Guitarlife:Pls go ahead with this account, we're all ears. |
rainazoe:Thank you so much @rainazoe, @maternal and @4Barr . I'm grateful for the responses. She's headed to Ontario. She finally got one health insurance from here this evening but it cost like 80k for 3months for 2kids and 2adults. I'm not too sure about the exact name ...maybe cornerstone or constone insurance. Well, Lets hope it's worth it and it works as the flyer says. Fingers crossed. Thanks again fam ! |
Good morning house, Pls I'm asking for a friend. She will be landing in a few days and she wants to get health insurance from here for a family of 4. Pls should she go ahead and do it from here? I think ethopian air travel insurance , heard it covers the 1st 3months after landing. Or is there any other way to get insurance before the Canadian one kicks in (considering it takes roughly 3months)? Or should she wait till she arrives Canada? She has small kids 2& 8yrs . Although they are not sickly, but shes just trying to be cautious. What's your take pls.? |
patakioy:Congrats on your progress. Ideally Your POF should be in your account for at least 6months before submitting your documents. If using a gift deed, the timing doesnt really count that much (in my opinion). Provided you have the money from a credible source and you can prove it is from a close contact. (Like family members). Pls refer to page 1. There are better answers to this question there. Good luck with your application. |
bepop:Ideally it takes about 2- 3weeks, if there are no holidays in between. But mine took over a month because of the holidays. |
Frances86:Thanks @ Frances86. To enrol for the Canada pre arrival services, you need to be post AOR. Check the planningforcanada website. you will see a tab to apply . Fill in your details and They will reply you and ask you to select a date . Also, from the planningforcanada website: you need to show a proof of eligibility. Proof of eligibility could be any of the following: an IRCC invitation letter to obtain pre-arrival services, or a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) letter/document, or a passport request letter that indicates Permanent Resident visa issuance, or an IRCC request that an applicant for permanent residence complete medicals, or a Single Entry Permanent Resident Visa, or a Permanent Resident Visa pick up notification letter. I used my AOR UCI to apply, I didn't have the other docs at the time. Or Send a mail to wekun@iom.int with your UCI number, and ask questions. |
Aygal:@Aygal. Thanks. To your question, What is your job description? (list over 5 of them) . You need to be detailed, so we can help you look up the nearest NOC. Also what is your wife's job description? NOC codes are not based on what you studied in school, but based on what you're currently working on /the description for the job you want to claim points for. |
Nono16:My fam, COPR received today. All glory to God, who causes us to prosper. Ok heres a break down as promised. Started the journey by enrolling for the IELTS exam. IELTS: I studied Liz blog for reading and mainly writing. I believe the free version is very useful for writing, she has very good techniques and samples. For the speaking, I watched sample interview tests on YouTube. Those videos are enough to get you a good score. I practiced with the free Cambridge materials, and I always timed myself. When I did the first practice, I scored a 27/40 in listening and a 30/40 in reading. I was shook!!!!. I couldn’t believe my eyes lol, but I kept practicing. Over the next 2 months, I started scoring 39/40 and 40/40. At this point, I knew I was ready to take the test, and I registered. Lo and behold, my result wasn’t too different from my practice results. L= 9, R = 8.5, S = 8.5, W = 7. My 1st attempt. I believe the secret to acing the test is: i) Practice practice practice, ii) familiarize yourself with the test question formats, iii) have a calm state of mind on the morning of the exam, iv) For writing, use pencil and start from task 2; it carries more marks - 66% of the total score, while task 1 takes 33% or so…..i cannot over emphasize checking out LIZ blog. ECA: I used WES and it was pretty straight forward, as I evaluated my foreign degree. It took about 2 or 3weeks. ITA: As soon as the ECA was done, I jumped into the pool with 452 or so. I have to state here that if you have 2yrs and 10 months work experience, pls put 2yrs only when creating an IRCC profile. NEVER ROUND UP pls. Even if it is 3yrs and 11months, pls claim 3yrs guys. I claimed 2yrs work experience: 1year of NYSC and 1year post NYSC. Be very careful when creating an account pls. POF: Before I got ITA, I had already gotten 50% of my POF sitting in the account for over 6months. The remaining money came in as a gift deed from my family. It actually came 2days before I submitted my application. I had to wait to print the Statement of account. Bank documents- I used a dollar account. I asked for a letter in the CIC format, but the man in the customer rep booth refused. He gave me a generic one. I had to request for a letter of non-indebtedness to buffer. So from the bank, I had my 6months SOA, letter of non-indebtedness, and the generic bank reference letter. PCC: I paid the regular 10k in Abuja and some $15 or so for US PCC. I paid the forensic dept. in Louis edet house to help me with holding my hand to thumbprint for the FBI one, and I DHLed the sheets to the US. (The report returned in 24hrs). REF LETTERS: The Company I served with during nysc, refused to give me a reference letter, so I asked my previous supervisor to write one for me. He wrote it on a plain sheet and got it notarized. He attached a scanned copy of his ID card showing his position, just as a backup. Also, they paid us cash, so I had no paystubs and no bank proof. My supervisor took the initiative to write out this fact and he included the amount paid monthly in his letter. For my post NYSC job, I had paystubs, letter-headed ref letter from HR, bank print out etc. AOR: On the day of submission, I forgot to attach my current reference letter from the company I was working with (although I wasn’t claiming points for it), and I submitted. I was so worried. I added LOE to the beginning of certain placeholders, e.g. in the POF part, I explained that the bank offered only the generic letter: I wrote just 1 sentence on a plain sheet, and under it, I gave a tabular breakdown of the money conversion rate using oanda from USD to CAD. Then I put a table of content thing: 1st page – letter of non-indebtedness, 2nd page – bank ref letter…….etc. I also put a general LOE in the general section placeholder, it had a summary of all my LOEs on one sheet of plain paper, I wrote brief sentences here too…e.g.: EMPLOYMENT RECORDS: in 2016, I was paid cash for a period of 1yr in XYZ Company, hence my non-inclusion of paystubs - more details in the employment record placeholder. I did this just in case different VOs were working on different parts of my file at the same time, at least they would see the LOE in the employment part or see the LOE in the general part. For clarity sake. -I previously had a visitor’s visa to Canada, so I was not asked for biometrics. **When post AOR: try to enroll for a planning for Canada session. They give individualized action plans for people based on your NOC code. It helps you to know what you are up against, technologies to learn, and attributes to quickly imbibe before you get there. OTHERS: The first 2weeks post AOR were challenging. I used to check my profile 3times a day, but after the first 2 weeks, I totally got occupied and hardly checked except on Saturdays. Also, pls keep your LinkedIn and social media up to date with your current job status. They actually do cross check guys, most esp LVO and AVO. I had no visa denials and no ADR, I paid all PPR fees upfront, didn’t order GCMS notes- so I don’t know which VO attended to my application, but I think it should be Ottawa. SUMMARY: As a last note, Pls don’t put a full stop where God has placed a comma. Don’t fret and don’t give up. Do what you have to do, be very clear and concise in your application. Avoid discrepancies, and long turanchi. My love goes to NewMum0625, Tojued, smslive, mcstan18, joo2000, ifeoma77 and a host of others. Newmum actually replied me repeatedly, answering my questions via mail in a very detailed manner, ….Tojued too, but she refused to give me her num lol. Then there was this guy in PH that kept replying me, he even gave me his contact to call him. May God reward you all. I will be open to help anyone with questions that I can answer, but remember no 2 applications are exactly alike. Use your discretion to act, and always read up page 1. |
osagiepetre2b:Go to Louis Edet house (HQ), and head to the forensic department. They charge 10k per person. It should be ready in 3days. |
smslive2:Congratulations. So happy for you . I smiled all through as I was reading. Upon all the rejections, you made it! |
boundlessjoy:Me too I'm interested pls . April ending though. |
I am based in abuja, so i submitted in the VFS abuja office at silverbird. 1) The payment for the COPR was N17,990 or so, and N500 for SMS, so total i paid was N18,340. 2) My PPR mail didnt state any location too. i wasnt kuku bothered, i just printed the mail and gave them like that. I'm assuming all intl passports are shipped to Accra Office. 3) I didnt pay any transmission fees to lagos VFS.(maybe they internally transfer it to lagos on its way to accra included in the above cost). But there was nothing like transmission mentioned sef yday. They didnt even ask anything relating to acrra. As soon as i left, i got 2 mails about my tracking number and a text msg. Dont panic,It seems all those who got PPR on the 18th of dec , were from OttawaVO and they didnt put location as per Accra. Las las just go to lagos VFS (if in lagos) and pay your N18,340 (PS: ensure you have change, cos i heard they never have change to give you). Olsbby: |

Planning for Canada session. Send a mail to wekun@iom.int with your UCI number. . the above is a post from @pepe1. Also Saw this on the planningforcanada website: Proof of eligibility could be any of the following: an IRCC invitation letter to obtain pre-arrival services, or a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) letter/document, or a passport request letter that indicates Permanent Resident visa issuance, or an IRCC request that an applicant for permanent residence complete medicals, or a Single Entry Permanent Resident Visa, or a Permanent Resident Visa pick up notification letter. Pls is this info still valid? Pepe1's own or the one on the website? I'm post AOR, and i dont know the exact doc for proof of eligibility to submit pls. Plus no info on this on page 1 too. pls help.... Abuja people. |
I declare speedy COPRs/ PPRs in this Part 5. The Lord will grant our heart desires. I will testify very very soon. Amen. |
Bello321:Yea it should be. The lady who did mine for me, spread the ink on a flat platter, then she rolled my fingers from left to right, and she made me paste it too from left to right on the printed out FBI paper, for each finger. For every new paper, she spread the ink again, and made me roll my fingers from left to right once more. Then at the end of each paper, after rolling the 10 fingers, she spread the ink again, pressed my four fingers at once, and touched the lower bottom part of the fingerprint sheet. No rolling at this point, and then she did the same for the right hand and the thumbs. Hope this helps. |
mosky47:Oh i see. Let someone help you hold and press your fingers this time. Start from the left to the right(as in the rolling type). |
mosky47:Sorry about that. Did you print the FBI fingerprint paper from their website? Could that be the problem? What paper type did you use? I suggest you print the fingerprint form from their website and redo. Cheer up pls. |
Bello321:Its pretty simple, go to the fbi website and print out a thumbprint paper. Make sure you print like 5 or so. I did my fingerprint in Abuja . If you're in Abuja, head to Louis Edet house (Police headquarters). they can help you do the thumbprint. I paid about 1500 or so . Then head to DHL and pay 19k for the courier. you should get the approval from FBi within 48hrs. If you're in Abuja, i can give you some extra copies i printed. |
@Newmum0615 . I'm a silent reader but I just had to come out to say congrats. Thank you for answering our questions both on NL and via mails. You have been selfless on NL. May God bless you for that. As Pst Andy Osakwe would say, a running tap that provides water to others, can never thirst. By faith, I will share my PPR testimony this August In Jesus Name.Amen And for all PPR hopefuls, August is our month of miracles. Lets keep trusting God. |
Tojued:Ok as a feedback to Tojued, I was able to sort it out at the Louis Edet house . I gave them 1,500. and they were super helpful. Thanks again Toju. |
Tojued:Ok thank you so much for the swift response. I'm racing there right away. God bless you !!!! Tojued ![]() |
Hi Fam, Pls does anyone know any where i could do fingerprinting for my fbi pcc in abuja pls? I wanted to do it with ink and cardboard, but i think it ought to be more official or professionally done. Pls i'm open to suggestions . Thanks. |
Good day AbujaNIV, Pls i submitted my passport for a dropbox renewal (as i have been doing previously), but after 2weeks i recieved this mail below, saying that i need to schedule an interview at "no extra cost". My question is, pls how do i go about this? I know scheduling an interview via my portal requires paying another GTB MrV fee. Or am i wrong? Do i just walk to the embassy in Abuja? No extra docs were asked for in the mail. I will greatly appreciate your response pls. Thank you. @LagosNIV & @AbujaNIV

Dear AbujaNIV, Thank God for a forum like this. Pls my mum's visa expires in a month, and we were hoping to get it renewed for her via dropbox. She's been travelling to the US for over 8years now on vacations, with no rejections and no negative records. But as i was applying for a renewal of her US visa this time, i realized that the application gave a "First appointment date is Dec 13th 2017" message on the left hand side of the page, although it gave a dropbox heading. My question now is, pls does the dec 13th date, mean she has to drop the passport off in DHL on that day? or she has to attend an interview in person on that date? None of her data has changed in the last 8yrs, and she has never overstayed. I would really appreciate your help on this pls.

Good morning house, Pls I have a quick question. Would you recommend TVS or just regular pelvic uss? I have Pcos and my doctor is trying to do some infertility checks. I wouldn't like to waste money doing the 2, so I'll like to go for the most detailed one pls. Any comment will be appreciated pls. Echo scan in Abuja charges 5k for tvs as opposed to the 3k for pelvic uss(maybe it's more expensive cos it's better?). |
Hey Everyone, I know this might be queer. But I want to say a very big thank you to everyone on this forum that replies and gives detailed insights to people's plights and concerns. I must say it can be hard seeking for answers online, but here on this forum , advice is given for free. May God bless all those who genuinely take their time to reply to others. We might not appreciate it outrightly , but I know heaven will reward you all someday. I got a lot of help on my quest to study in the US 2Yrs ago( from nairaland), and here I am again benefiting from this forum as I embark for Canada . There's really no stupid question, guys. Ask as much as you can , and even if no one replies, ask again. May we all find mercy and get our visas . Amen. |
penitential:Thanks for replying. Your insight is well noted. From my experience thus far, most university degrees are basically filled with theories and less practicum. I went to a so -called famous sch in the US and I can say that although I came out with a very high gpa, most msc programs there are just overrated and living on past glory, and I'm assuming that canada univs might be the same( I might be wrong though), hence my choice of going for a diploma. I was at BCIT last week and what I saw was impressive. My degree was in electrical field , but I'm making a switch to IT. |
Good day fam, Pls a couple of questions here. I just got admitted for Fall 2017 to BCIT for a 2yr IT diploma program. So here's the thing: I recently graduated in May this year with an Msc in EE from a US univ. I also have a BEng from a univ in nig . The diploma in bcit seems really fabulous and poses to be a great deal breaker. I just hav 2yrs work experience from Naija but I doubt if that counts. With the number of study visa rejections lately, I wonder what my fate might be with the VO's. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Ps: I already have a Canadian visitors visa valid for the next 3yrs. |
