AbaganaMiracle: Zombie, what is "Land of Edo"? What does that mean in Igbo language? Some of you are really daft. What is "Land" in Igbo language? After answering that, then come back and tell us the meaning of "Edo" both in Nnewi dialect and in Igbo language. There is nothing like "Land of Edo" It doesn't make any sense and because Igwe Nnewi said it still doesn't make it have any meaning. Because he is Igwe Nnewi, and so what? "Ana Edo" means "Land of Gold", simple!! Lmao Abagana man don finally spread the confusion. |

NoQualmz: Just watched a video online on the once ghetto looking EkeAwka round about now faced with sanity. I was marvelled that the ever busy, dirty and always rowdy EkeAwka roundabout has now received the attention of the govt. The uncouth roadside traders who majorly contribute a greater percentage of dirt around the EkeAwka axis weren’t in sight. Security men were also seen hanging around to ward off urchins. Nice one Soludo
Whatever Soludo is doing now...needs to be intensified. Demolish dirty looking structures around EkeAwka and give Zik avenue a face lift. Wish commercial banks or cooperate establishments buy that axis of EkeAwka and construct buildings of fresh air there.
While attention is being given to EkeAwka..Our hardworking gov mustn’t forget to work on upper iweka, one of the most dangerous area in Onitsha. The sort of tales u get to hear from that place isn’t pleasing to the ears...it’s one which evokes fear. Traders and visitors from other states as far as the north have one or two gory tales to recount about that place called upper iweka. If u doubt me go to Twitter and facebook using the #UpperIweka and see things.
God bless Soludo God bless Anambra In clearer terms, from the video the once redundant traffic lights were fully in use. Vehicles were waiting in lines for the green light. In fact the two traffic stands were fully in use. Roadside hawkers were no where to be found. What was so evident in that video were street urchins standing and looking like traffic sanity was a new thing to them (quite embarrassing). |

ANSMEDIA: Onitsha River Port has finally been concessioned. FEC approved the concession in Feb 2022, and on June 30, 2022, the concession contract was signed, in Abuja (“commercial close”).
Next step is financial close, and then formal commencement of the 30-year concession.
Concessionaire: Universal Elysium Consortium, led by Dr. George Nwangwu, lawyer, academic & expert on infra regulation & privatization
Concession model: Rehabilitate, Operate & Transfer (ROT)
Concession Period: 30 years
Onitsha Port: >12 Ha land; 324m wharf, expandable by 234m
You know why Onitsha River Port is so important ie why it has so much potential?
According to National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), 60% of the containers that arrive Nigeria through Tincan, Apapa & Onne Ports end up in the South East.
They mostly travel by road (trailers)
Nigeria has 4 River Ports:
Onitsha (Anambra) Lokoja (Kogi) Baro (Niger) Oguta (Imo)
Onitsha Port is the first to be successfully concessioned.
@NigeriaGov says the remaining 3 will also be concessioned, and the lessons learnt from the Onitsha process will come in handy.
https://twitter.com/toluogunlesi/status/1555492114162745346 A welcome development...but anything coming from Tolu will be taken with a pinch of salt. Meanwhile let the concession model begin...until then,!? |
