How fast you get a trip? A phone with a 6gb Ram and a phone with a 2gb ram. All things being equal.
The 6gb ram will catch orders faster than d 2gb ram.

Anyone that has a flourishing business will never fancy Lagos as a state to reside in. Most factories are now in Ogun state.
The people I pity are those that earn like 30k or those fixed salaries in Lagos. Housing, feeding and transport will wipe off any gains from such salaries.

I work as a marketer with a microfinance Bank here in Ibadan Oyo State but the situation of things has been terrible for the past 7 months now and it seems the company may fold up soon because they are running at loss.





There are times we will just be moving around without achieving anything, most of our customers has ran away because they couldn't pay off there debt and it's affecting our salaries, most times the Branch Manager will tell us to get the guarantor arrested but at the end nothing will come out.
For the past five months we haven't received salary,except 3,500 for transportation.
I just had to quit this job to look for another opportunity probably a teaching job or secretary in another organisation.

I believe God is in control and will definitely make a way soon


Is there anyone facing the same challenges?

Bro. Corrolla is very sturdy, rugged, can withstand extreme conditions.
2020 , before end Sars, the 3mb was under repairs, only one lane was shared.
I was coming from v.i going to mainland. We spent 3 hrs 20mins before we got to shoprite. Didn't switch off for one minute.
Rider was even tired. He was frustrated.
A lot cars were overheating that night. I didn't spot one Corrolla that broke down.
Toyota is a damn good car.
The challenge is forex and the ailing economy.
If a typical worker earns 1m / month. He/she should be able to buy a good car.

Toyota is superior to Honda engines. A normal corrolla will swim agungi n come out unscathed. A civic or accord EOD can't try it.

To be honest, if u experience civic wahala u fit comit suicide. Not to talk of City. Even Accord. Engine alone is not car, there are more than 100 components associated with or connected in the engine bay. Honda engine is rugged but the gear is ajebo. Engine fit no give u problem but other things can make u sell of the car in frustration.
Just take a look at the car complaints on this thread, how many are corolla? A car gains wide popularity not because people are using it, but because it has been tested and it is actually durable, quality and easy to maintain.

I remember when Jetta was reigning, it didn't last because the first wave of buyers where frustrated, same story with Passat, Peugeot 306/206, Nissan, BMW, Chevrolet and co.

A car is graded for its total package, engine, gear, electrical system, quality of interior, body design and general quality of its parts.
I dare say Toyota is not over rated.

Most gear specialist na bullshit. Why is he giving a guarantee of 6 months ,if he's sure of his stuff.
Better don't throwaway money. After 2 months, if there's any issue, he won't refund your money. Don't be surprised, he will ask you to pay for more items to be used to further repair the gear.

A one time travel won't really do damage . What I'm saying is , during the time, I was using it, I declined inter state trips because it will lead to constant firing of the engine which obviously will worsen the shortening scenario.

So medium trips n short trips were my ideal favourites, and indrive was just coming up then. So short trips were really profitable.

Don't chase target.. Start the work gradually. In a month, you should know your income level.

Profits in ehailing depends on various factors.

1. The health of the car

2. The strength of the driver

3. The knowledge of the terrains. ( most new drivers will work fully today, ignoring the fact that a simple error today could set them back for 3 or 4 days even a week, if they are unlucky).

So, start gradually n build experience. The hustle is still profitable if the car is yours, even if you are on rentals. It is still better than most of the office jobs out there.

I once saw one uber guy topping the engine in the afternoon... I know an irresponsible driver once I see one.
Those periods, i check my engine guage every morning before I start the car. No guesswork or chances.
If the oil level is towards the lower mark and for one reason or the other, I don't have one litre to top it up, that days work is suspended till evening.

I will take bus to Mobil lateef Jakande buy 2 1 litre packs ,then it was 2500 - 3100.
I always top the oil when the engine is stone cold.

I could even suspend the day's work n start the following morning .

I won't start the engine unless it is properly guaged [ oil between the two holes on the dipstick)

I dont rep Lagos mechs @ all . Esp those ones that say they ring engines.

Ringing engines is akin to like doing surgery on the human body.
If the mech ( surgeon) does not get it right. The factory calibration of that engine is gone.

The funny thing is these so called mechs are as expensive as f..k and most times they don't deliver.

I used my Corolla from the time I noticed it was burning oil (oil consumption) (2014) till I sold it (2021), I was topping oil 1-2 liters prior to next oil change and depending on usuage. I travelled wella, far trips.
Here in NL car talk, I asked about the problem, a lot said I should save up to buy another engine.
The engine served me wella and still silent till I sold it.

I switched from 5w30 to 20w50. Cos it is a waste of money and synthetic oil. It makes no sense cos I saw it as wasting of expensive oil. I changed it at 5000km instead of 7500km(which I believed it is for the synthetic oil).

Let's not forget that modern cars require top up after 1000km. At least I have seen this in 08 Corolla and 07 Accord.

If u can afford to be topping up the engine will serve you till e tire.

Over flogging of cars is one of the reasons cars don't last long with some drivers.

I am a staunch believer in getting value for your time spent. In this hustle, some drivers still work almost everyday.
Running around Lagos like a headless chicken taking stupid fares .( some still take 1k trips :

At the end of the week., the guy that worked 4 days has the same net income as the guy that worked 6 or 7 days.
So 2 or 3 days for one driver was a total waste .

Multiply that by 50 weeks, you have a driver that has a net loss of around 120 - 150 days in a year.

Such drivers have cars that depreciate very fast.

The challenge is not all drivers understand management of an old engine.
An engine that shortens oil can't be consistently used on long trips anymore.
Medium (10-15km) trips will suffice.

Not planning to fire the car to Edo or kogi when you know the oil shortens.

Say what you have experienced. My car has been shorting oil for a very long time. N its still the same 2-3,litres monthly.

Good. Water is the best. Mine is malt, I cant barely go a day without one. I have already down one today and fighting it should just be all for the day. Use to stuff fridge with cookies, groundnuts and malt, but I have to stop. Once I’m home seeing movies, nothing rest 😂 unless I’m asleep.
