Russia’s ambassador to Ankara, Andrey Karlov has been killed in a gun attack in Ankara, Turkish capital.

The 62-year old was given a speech at an embassy-sponsored photo exhibition when a man in a suit shot shot him in the back from close range multiple times.

In a video circulating on social media shows the gunman shouting, “Allahu akbar (God is great). Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!”
“Get back! Get back!” the man can be heard shouting in Turkish as he waves a gun.
“Only death will remove me from here. Everyone who has taken part in this oppression will one by one pay for it,” he said.

President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari has reportedly been flown out of the country on medical emergency grounds after the slumped yesterday evening.

According to National Daily, Kyari who has been suffering from an undisclosed ailment which has kept him away from office in the last seven days.

The Source said the relationship between Kyari and his boss, Mr President, has worsened in the last few weeks after more revelations of allegations of graft as well as abuse of office against the Chief of Staff. He was alleged to have received N500m from MTN to help facilitate reduction of the $5.2bn fine placed on them by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka said on Thursday that he had ‘destroyed’ his US green card as promised.

The 82-year old had vowed to give up his US Green Card as a protest if Donald Trump becomes US President.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Tuesday confirmed that it had ended its one week nationwide warning strike over the non-implementation of a 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.

The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, who said this in Abuja, urged lecturers to return to work.

“We are making progress, especially with the intervention of the Senate. In the next one or two meetings, if we are able to get a clear path to the matter, we will avoid elongation of the strike action.

Lecturers at the University of Lagos on Wednesday complied with the directive of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to embark on a nationwide one-week warning strike.

Dr Adelaja Odukoya, Chairman ASUU University of Lagos chapter, told NAN that he was impressed by the level of compliance of his colleagues in the university to the strike directive.

He said that the union was agitating for the interest of students, their parents and development of the education sector.


“ I am very happy with the total compliance of members in this branch. “However, a few of them, who wanted to test our resolve by attempting to enter the classes for academic activities, were quickly called to order. “We hear the National Assembly is calling for a reconsideration of our action and come over to dialogue. “I do not think there is any seriousness in the concern they are showing now. “We have been doing everything possible to hold dialogue on these issues raised and each time we try, it is promises or even outright silence. “We are not happy that we are declaring the strike because we know how badly it affects us. “But since no one seems to bother about the situation in our university system, then we have to rise up to the occasion,’’ he said.

Award winning photojournalist with NAIJ.com, Yinka Adeparusi who was earlier reported missing has been confirmed dead in an accident.

According to NAIJ.com, he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Abuja and died on the spot. He was last seen alive when he stepped out of his apartment at about 1.00 pm in Kugbo area of Abuja on Sunday, November 13, with a brief ‘I’ll be back’.

Friends and colleagues got worried after several calls made to his mobile phone lines did not go through and also he did not make any contact with those close to him or his colleagues in the office.

President-elect Donald Trump has said that he plans to deport about two to three million undocumented immigrants.

In his first interview after winning the election, Mr. Trump told CBS he will deport 2 to 3 millions illegal immigrants.

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, we have a lot of these people—probably two million, it could be even three million—we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump said in his interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes. “But we’re getting them out of our country. They’re here illegally.”

The procession of the new Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness, Eheneden Erediauwa began on Saturday 8th October.

Hundreds of residents in Benin, the Edo State capital gathered at the Edaiken palace to watch the crown prince walk for 8 kilometers on foot as part of the coronation for an Oba of Benin.

Crown Prince Eheneden, who is also the Edaiken, moved on foot from his palace to Eko-Ohae, where he would stay for three days.

The House of Representatives has suspended Abdulmumin Jibrin, The Chairman of the House committee on Appropriation for a period of 180 legislative sitting.

Jibril was barred from holding positions of responsibility till the end of the 8th Assembly.

Jibrin had accused the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara and other principal officer of the Lower Legislative Chamber of padding the 2016 budget to the tune of over N40bn.

Professor Allan Lichtman, a professor and historian who has correctly predicted the results of presidential elections for the past 30 years recently forecasted a narrow Trump victory in US Presidential election in November.

“Based on the 13 keys, it would predict a Donald Trump victory,” says Allan Lichtman, distinguished professor of history at American University in Washington, DC.

26-year-old captain Kate McWilliams and her 19-year-old co-pilot Luke Elsworth flew hundreds of passengers to their destinations this week.

The young pilots manned a flight from London to Malta, after McWilliams earlier passed a course ascending to the rank of captain.

Of the 130,000 airline pilots worldwide, just 450 are female captains.

There was tension in the University of Ibadan on Friday as a threatening message that purportedly emanated from a group, al-wilayat al-Islamiyya Gharb Afriqiyyah, was circulated among some staff of the institution and on social media platforms.

According to the message, the Islamic group threatened to bomb the school before Independence Day on October 1, 2016, saying that students and staff were their targets.

The Director of Communication, UI, Olatunji Oladejo, dismissed the threat, saying it was the handiwork of mischievous individuals who wanted to cause commotion in the school.


In the mail, the group described the university as an embarrassment to Nigeria for bringing western education.

Niger Delta Peoples Professional Volunteer Force, NDPPVF has said its members are workers in the oil and gas industry, stressing that they will detonate a bomb at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) if former former first lady, Patience Jonathan is arrested

The former first lady is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for having accounts containing more than $15 million with Skye Bank.

Mrs. Jonathan has since explained that the money was meant for her medical bills


The militant group, NDPPVF accused the anti-graft agency (EFCC) of witch-hunting the former first lady. A statement by Parkinson George-Amabo, spokesman of NDPPVF, the group warned EFCC that investigating Patience could result into “bad blood, embarrassment and possible unrest in the Niger Delta.”.

In Ghana, a thief who stole a wallet from a native doctor was shocked when the item turned into a dangerous snake in his hands.

The 27-year-old thief identified only as Mdu, had snatched the wallet from the owner, not knowing that the owner was a well known witch doctor, and when he tried to open it to see what he got for his efforts, the wallet turned into a cobra that wrapped itself around his hand.


The thief tried to remove the snake from his hand but to no avail. He then went to the owner of the wallet and confessed what he did.

One of Hollywood’s most powerful marriages is over.

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and the trigger was a conflict over the kids, substance abuse and anger. Jolie filed legal docs Monday citing irreconcilable differences.

Pitt, 52, and Jolie, 41, got married in 2014 but their relationship became the subject of speculation in 2004, when they co-starred in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.


She’s asking for physical custody of the couple’s 6 children. She is asking the judge to give Pitt visitation. It’s significant … she does not want Brad to have joint physical custody … only joint legal custody.

The South African Minister of Higher Education and Training, Blade Nzimande has announced plans to have witchcraft included in the curriculum from 2018.
Speaking to representatives from student unions around the country, the minister announced the shocking move and urged future university entrees to consider taking Witchcraft.

“There is a lot we can learn from witchcraft, like how they fly in that winnowing basket. Imagine if we learn that skill. It will eradicate traffic jams and everyone will just get in their basket and fly. It also means we will not be importing fuel anymore.” Blade said.

A Nigerian man who named his dog Buhari (same name as Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari) on Friday asked the court to dismiss criminal charges against him.

In a statement sent by his lawyer, the owner of ‘Buhari’ the dog Joachim Iroko said he had a “legal right” to name his pet whatever he wanted.

“The name is not exclusive to the president, Buhari can just be a name given to any living creature just for identity,” Iroko’s lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa told AFP.


Iroko appeared in court Ota in the southwest state of Ogun in August after being charged with “conduct likely to cause breach of peace” after naming his dog Buhari, Adegboruwa said.
