This is the second time that the Portuguese captain has won the award, tying him with the Argentine Messi as the only two players to have had the honour of winning the award twice.

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe has instructed the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri to arrest and detain the whole Zimbabwean Olympic Team members immediately the arrive at the Harare International Airport on Tuesday, August 23.

Zimbabwe which is one of the countries in the Olympics without a medal presented a team of 31 athletes. The closest any of the athletes came to win a contest was at the 8th position.


Mr. Mugabe who is incensed with the team’s performance told the Police Chief to arrest all the team members and detain them. “We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money” he said.

A reader sent this in today. This happened at TBS, Lagos Island this morning when a BRT bus driver was caught on camera harassing passengers and he nearly beat up one.

The reader who sent in the pictures didn’t give much details of what led to the commotion but there have been several complains from commuters about the attitude and approach of the bus drivers.

Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber has deleted his Instagram account after receiving several negative comments about his rumored girlfriend, Sofia Richie.

Sofia Richie is the 17-year-old model and daughter of singer Lionel Richie. The two have been seen out together for some weeks, though it is not clear if they are actually a couple.

Most of the negative comments on Justin’s Instagram were directed at Sofia. Justin had earlier threatened that : “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”

Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WITZAN), has cried out that they are being persecuted because they had thrown their weight behind former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections.

The President of the nocturnal body, Dr Okhue Iboi, who reasons that Nigerians are hypocrite who only reckon with them in secret while publicly denouncing them.


The Edo State born Dr Iboi, was speaking about the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the state shortly after a meeting of WITZAN in Irrua area of the state, stating that they have a right to practice whatever they want since Nigeria is a secular country with the freedom to belong to any association.

“It is unfortunate that many Nigerians are hypocrites. When they hear witches or read about witches, what comes to their mind is evil or darkness. For our own witches group, we are children of light. We are for good.

Indian rights activist Chanu Sharmila, on Tuesday promised in New Delhi to end her hunger strike of 16 years in order to run in 2017 state elections.

Abhirr VP, Amnesty International India Spokesperson, said that Sharmila, who has been fasting for past 16 years, is ending the fast on Tuesday, with the aim of trying a different agitation.


She recalled that Sharmila launched her hunger strike on November 2, 2000, to protest the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), a controversial law that gives armed forces special powers of search and seizure in troubled regions.


VP said that the activist launched her protest against AFSPA after 10 civilians were killed by security forces in insurgency-hit Manipur.

On Tuesday she was granted bail after assuring a judge that she planned to end her fast.

The news and above photo went viral on several blogs that a Nollywood stuntman got burnt during the shooting of a movie. Even Vanguard online reported that the actor ‘sustained terrible fire injuries while performing fire stunts during a movie shoot.’ But could you believe that the above picture is NOT REAL.

The Actor/stuntman, Ani Iyoho who played the role of Federal Road Safety officer was badly burnt in a scene in the movie. The video clip posted online showed him on fire, burning. He was rolling on the floor and screaming. Clearly, the make-up and effect was far too good for many Nigerians to believe it was just a movie.

Following police shooting of an African-American man few days ago, there have been another shooting earlier today. Three Baton Rouge police officers have been killed and three others wounded. Officials think the attack on the officers is the work of multiple gunmen.

One of the suspects is dead. Authorities believe two others may be at large. The shooting took place around 9 a.m. (10 a.m. ET) in the city of about 230,000 people.

An army group in Turkey says it has taken over the country, with soldiers at strategic points in Istanbul and jets flying low in the capital, Ankara.
A statement read on TV said a “peace council” now ran the country and there was a curfew and martial law.

Nigerian music producer and singer, Babatunde Okungbowa, popularly known as OJB Jezreel has been reported dead.

A family the artist behind such hits as Searching and Pretete died at his home in Lagos.

The source said OJB had a relapse about two weeks ago and had to be placed on dialysis, which cost N35,000 weekly. His situation worsened on Monday leading to his death today.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Friday renamed the Kogi State University, Ayangba , after the late first civilian governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.

Bello announced the change in the name of the 15- year-old university during a statewide broadcast to mark his victory at the state governorship election petition tribunal.

He said that naming the university was the ultimate honour that could be done to the memory of the late colourful politician who ruled the state twice as the civilian governor from 1991 to 1993 and 1999 to 2003.

Maria Sharapova has been suspended for two years by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after testing positive for banned drug meldonium, which may end the career of the world’s richest female athlete of the past decade.

The 29 years old Russian professional tennis player, who is ranked world No. 9 by the Women’s Tennis Association claimed she had been taking meldonium since 2006 for heart issues, a magnesium deficiency and because her family has a history of diabetes.

The Nigerian Senate makes the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB UTME results valid for three years, reduced fees from N5,550 to N2,500 and also make change of course and institutions FREE.

The Senate has passed a resolution extending the validity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exam (UTME) results to three years as against the current one year.

The Senate also resolved that the examination fees be reviewed downwards to N2500, while change of course and institutions, as well as any other changes surrounding the examination be free.

The very beautiful lady is now a shadow of her old self courtesy of her evil boyfriend.

The young lady whose name was not given was held in captivity in a deep pit by her boyfriend for 8 months. The evil boyfriend who used her as sacrifice for money rituals is said to have fed her twice a week, as part of the instruction for the rituals.

The photo emerged online and has gone viral. This happened somewhere in Tanzania. But fortunately for the lady, she survived and was found still alive.
