XrisLee: Maltreatment Of MTN Call Center Agents At Mayfair Gardens
''Indians are here on Nigerian soil, slaving us and using our money to en-rich their lives. This must stop...''
''I work as a customer care representative for Mtn Nigeria which was contracted for Communication Network Support Services Limited (CNSSL at Mayfair Garden Ibeju Lekki) we have always been told from the onset that we are not full staff of MTN Nigeria which we acknowledged but MTN has terminated the Contract CNSSL partly and now contracted it to a South African Indian company called ISON BPO. We've been maltreated badly.
The termination took effect on July 31st, we were re-issued another 3months contract letter from same CNSSL. before the termination of appointment, MTN who is the principal partner already sent a mail to all of us that our Unspent Leave days will be monetised. Gbenga Adebayo who is the CEO of CNSSL, paid nobody nothing and we have been working for 3years and (we have been confirmed as a full staff with letters), took up all our Unspent Leave days and cancelled them all. from August 1st to Oct 31st which the new contract states, we will not be going on Leave. Those of us on Maternity Leave were asked to resume, even if u had the baby a day before or face been sacked I have a two weeks old baby and am working to support my family, so I can afford being sacked. But the stress is killing I leave home 4:20 everyday and get home close to midnight, except on night shift I can't even continue breastfeeding my baby, Our HMO has been cancelled. We were left with nothing after which he's sub contracting from ISON BPO for the period of 3 months (1st of August to 31st of October) We would be paid just our normal salary which is 75,367.05 Our work time has been unjustly increased from 5hours 20mins to 9hrs with one hour break which is unfair to us. This increase is only applicable to those in Mayfair Gardens, Ibeju Lekki, meanwhile most of us stay on the mainland, All other call centres (Apapa, Ikoyi, VGC), still run the normal shifts as usual. MTN has abandoned us and now we work like slaves. We can't talk because if we do we would be sacked, alot of people have been sacked unjustly. We're expected to pick calls and speak with 194 customers for the 9hrs. And for the night shift speak with 228 customers in 12hrs.
This is injustice.
While the stress is killing alot of us, we cant enjoy the free medical care because of the cancelled HMO. This is slavery I hope we would be saved from CNSSL/ISON BPO before its too late. This silence is long overdue and that is why I am sending this mail, Indians are here on Nigerian soil, slaving us and using our money to en-rich their lives. This must stop.
The MTN staff in south Africa recently protested for salary increment. We are not asking them for too much, all we ask for is our normal shift hours and for them to put an end to this madness''. We share your plight but this is not only about mtn call center agents this as about contract staffing generally, MODERN DAY SLAVERY in Nigeria, an Indian or lebanese that doesn't knw any better will be employed as an expatriate earning jumbo pay and unreasonably huge allowances. We have a voice and it's sad to know that blogs that we have given the power to make our voice reach a louder audience would rather post about useless rumors of how a girl that died is a runs girl when Kylie jenner wears a swimsuit or if Kim kardashan if going to divorce kanye west such useless things that cannot add value to our lives just to have traffic on their blogs, please nl and other blogs we need to let Nigerians know that after being subjected to a lifetime of schooling home and abroad we are subjected to this inhumane issue of contract staffing like we don't deserve anything good in our lives, if we do this, the message will go viral and get to the appropriate authorities. Thanks |

Politics › Re: How Nairaland Can Make You A Millionaire. by nosiebaba(m): 2:58pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
MistaHumble: This forum Nairaland is rated as one of the most visited and talked about forum both in Nigeria and even beyond borders, thanks to the man behind this great idea Mr Oluwaseun Osewa.
Nairaland has over a million registered users and the site can comfortable boast of receiving more thank 100k visitors every single day from all around the world. This clearly means that this forum is to me the most recommended in regards to meeting people and networking for Nigerians in genuine businesses.
Now straight to the main point, with a forum like this having this high amount of registered users and visitor it is very possible to reach out and introduce your goods & services right? I know a lot of people are meeting new customers and clients as well as business partners here on a regular basis and also making good transactions.
My point is imagine yourself with a unique product or service that will attract just 10,000 people here who will keep coming back to you. Don't be greedy and set a target of making just N200 profit from your product or service for this 10,000 people you have captured to yourself. We are already talking about N2,000,000 on a regular basis if they are happy with your product or service.
Now check around you and make research, what do you think you can sell to 10,000 people and comfortably make just N200 as your profit. If you can come up with that great product or service, then trust me you are surely a millionaire in the making without a doubt.
Some one once told me something, if you decide to sell a full truck of dangote cement and a small van of cigarette, which will bring more money and I thought its definitely the truck of cement but to my greatest surprise its actually the van of cigarette. This is because people smoke more cigarette than they buy cement.
If you have a unique product or service but don't have the time or know how to get your target of 10,000 people, you can contact me so that I can help you get your target but on a small commission.
Think deep and let's together become millionaires. U r stating the obvious. Okay selling a truck of cement and stealing a diamond necklace which will make you richer. Stealing a diamond of course. While the idea you are trying to sell is good, your example isn't befitting of your point my brother. |

Politics › Re: Amaechi, APC Are Corrupt, PDP Insists by nosiebaba(m): 2:45pm On Aug 05, 2015 |
DONSMITH123: The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the claim by the former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, that President Muhammadu Buhari is begging him to accept appointment as minister or Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as tantamount to glorifying corruption.
The party said the claim also exposes the president’s “fight against corruption’ as anti-people and targeted at only members of the PDP.”
The party insisted that Amaechi is corrupt and has raped the state in an extreme manner, expressing reservations over the president’s stance, and his tolerance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who has at several fora had boosted that he was a dependable ally of the president and also a prospective ministerial appointee for either the Defence Ministry or Ministry of Petroleum.
In a statement signed by the Jerry on behalf of the state Chairman of the party, Mr. Felix Obuah, the PDP said it was amazed at the manner Amaechi’s corrupt and fraudulent actions are continually being celebrated by his lieutenants, the APC folks in the state and Abuja.
In like manner, the PDP recounted the illegal disbursement of N2 billion agricultural loan, non-execution of the contract for the construction of the Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte Specialist Hospital, after the payment of the sum of $39,200,000, illegal withdrawal of N96 billion from the Rivers State Reserve Fund, illegal sale of Omuku, Afam, Eleme and Trans-Amadi Gas Turbines, as well as the sale of Olympia Hotel.
The PDP also recounted the fraudulent practices surrounding the mono-rail and other phony projects abandoned in the state, after billions of naira were reportedly paid to ghost contractors by the former governor.
The party recalled how under the state Chairman of the APC, Mr. Davies Ikanya, when he held sway as Commissioner for Special Duties, billions of naira earmarked for the rehabilitation of Rivers indigenes, who were deported from a neighbouring country to the state was mismanaged, an incident that led to him being disgraced from office.
The party also challenged the governorship candidate of the APC, in the state, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, to explain what happened to billions of naira on Operation Zero Potholes, a conduit pipe used to siphon government money under his watch as Commissioner for Works, during the Amaechi administration.
It maintained that Amaechi and members of the APC were corrupt and lacked qualities to hold public office in a government that claims to be fighting corruption and making ‘desired change’ in governance.
The party maintained that Amaechi’s quest for public office was driven by corruption, wondering why he would claim that President Buhari was begging him to take up ministerial position, when he was yet to clear corruption allegations against him. This, according to the party, “amounts to glorifying the former governor and corruption, if his claim, at a public function in Abuja that Buhari was begging him to accept a ministerial appointment is true.
“We make bold to say that under Amaechi as governor, corruption was legalised and institutionalised. There are obvious evidence attesting to the validity of this position and the PDP is fully ready to provide proof of its claims. “Looking elsewhere from Amaechi and chieftain of the APC, and concentrating only on those who worked under former President Goodluck Jonathan and members of the PDP in the ‘fight against corruption’ amounts to witch-hunt and selective prosecution.
“As a president who “belongs to everybody and for nobody,” Nigerians would expect that you demonstrably commit yourself to doing the right thing by not having sacred cows and allowing Amaechi and other APC chieftains who are found to be corrupt to clear themselves by facing investigation and prosecution by credible anti-graft agencies, not those seeing to have compromised their actions. Doing this, will further earn you credibility and trust,” the party said.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/amaechi-apc-are-corrupt-pdp-insists/216634/ I wonder why nl always look so onesided in their posts. 50percent of posts everyday are pro pdp. I'm worried about the credibility of this site. |

Politics › Re: Daring The President On Halliburton Scandal Prosecution. by nosiebaba(m): 9:29pm On Jul 24, 2015 |
francizy: PMB and OBJ share some certain history as both played major roles in the misappropriation of the $2.8billion dollars back then when PMB served as NNPC chair. During Shagari's administration, Shagari let PMB off the hook by setting up a sham probe committee that not only discarded facts but claimed there was no missing monies amid the glaring loophole in the account. This was basically the reason why PMB payed Shagari back the favour by only placing him under house arrest rather than locking him up in prison like he did to Shehu's other principal officers back then. So the favour Shagari did for PMB was payed back by PMB.
What I am saying in essence is, PMB will not probe OBJ on the Haliburton scam because he knows OBJ's mouth leaks like the ànûs of a gay and hence OBJ maybe forced to expose his loot back then with PMB All this one na story, did u dare Jonathan to prosecute anyone? Don't be as sorry loser, GEJ has lost and nothing cn change dat |
Business › Re: Nigeria’s Gas Reserves To Last 79 Years – DPR by nosiebaba(m): 9:16am On Jul 24, 2015 |
I try to tell Nigerians everyday, natural gas is an area that is waiting to be exploited. Cars can run on natural gas and cars in Benin Lagos are already running on natural gas, using natural gas gives your over 60 percent savings on fuel cost, meaning if u use 10,000 naira on petrol or diesel then u will only 4000 or less on using natural gas for your vehicles of the same mileage. Many companies now use natural gas to generate power boycotting Nepa completely even redeem camp that has 24 hours light use Natual gas turbines. I hope the government and individuals will wake up and exploit this great benefit, because one way that the price of petrol can be reduced is if there is an alternative fuel that is cheaper and the great news is we already have that, it's Natural gas in its compressed form also known as CNG.

Business › Re: My Take On The Slave Labor In Nigerian Banks - Cramjones by nosiebaba(m): 2:33pm On May 20, 2015 |
cramjones: I read about the pay scale of bankers in Nigeria with deep and utter sadness. I haven't been able to sleep since I read the stories on Nairaland, for I have been deeply disturbed. Prior to these articles, I erroneously thought that entry level bankers earn nothing less than 120k, but I was very wrong! My nephew is banker, but he keeps asking me to send him money. I joke about it, albeit ignorantly, not knowing his pay is that of a slave.
Fellow Nigerians, granted we have over 50 million unemployed youths, nevertheless should we accept to be slaves in our own country? What will a young man full of life and energy do with 24k/month or $110 per month. I can remember many times I have spent such an amount one night on a family dinner. This is not fair and must be stopped! We must task the incoming administration to review our labor laws. It is unacceptable for a graduate working in a multibillion dollar coporation as a banker to earn less than $4/day.
Instead of trekking from pillar to post, do something about it! I would like to urge all youths to use the power of social media and spread the word. We must start that way. I will do my part by telling the C-in-C to tackle this slave labor head on. Not just the banks, but we must have enforcable laws that all employers of labor must abide to. Little wonder why Kelechi and Kayode are doing drugs in Indonesia. Little wonder why Ifeoma, Kabiru and Femi are drowning in the mediterranean trying to cross to Europe. We must put an end to modern day slavery, wickedness and greed!
You have all taken the right step by revealing it. Now make it popular and we will work on the one-on-one side. This must stop!
-CramJones Please let's not restrict this "fight against modern day slavery" it should involve every graduate of both university's, polytechnics etc doing hard work, hazardous work and are being paid peanuts with no job security @ all. |

This is seriously............... You are both saying the same thing and also fighting for the same course. Please let's not restrict this slave labour thing to banks only it's spread across all sectors of the economy even in some oil and gas companies, graduates do the hard and hazardous field work and earn as low as 50k |
