The problem I identified is that they want to be seen as cool Christians. Inadvertently seeking validation from unbelievers. Which shouldn't be the case. I remember telling you how a post addressing the indecent dressing of Christian ladies is always faced with attacks of "allow us dress how we want".
Direct same post to Muslim ladies and all they would ask for is Allah's guidance and grace to be steadfast.

The standard is dropping...

It's so pathetic. You correct they say you are judging, even right inside the church. It's now so terrible you cannot see decent wedding clothes, especially the traditional ones, it's like there's a boobing competition, the clothe will flow to the ground but all the damn bre.asts are showing

The funniest part is everybody knows what is decent, but let them continue deceiving themselves.

Is it wrong to ask people to wear better clothes?

As for portable he is doing well with his diss song, na real from brotherhood to sisterhood.

It's crazy to know that he hasn't seen his kids since she left him like 15 years ago.

This story reiterates the point that sometimes, people generally might not listen to counsel, I would have thought after Dr Olukoyas stern counsel to the woman an improvement should have been made considering that she would have respected his opinion as a man of God.

I also appreciate the fact that he's talking about it plenty years later and resisted the temptation to shalaye via press conference then, for that marriage to break down it was something because they were the couple going about with keys for singles very late 90s to early/mid 2000s so the divorce itself would have caused a lot of shake up in his church. That couple made waves back then via books and programme's in campuses before this SM era.

I was so shocked In January when I first saw the video I had to watch the interview, I watched the 2 part video to know what really happened.

I am an anti-Divorce advocate as a christain but there are lot of things to be learnt from his story for both males and females especially the christains.

Until I watched this interview sometimes in January this year, I thought he was still married to Ify. I never even knew they got divorced. I still remember the lady's picture on billboard, fair lady.

If you were conversant with campus programme's some 20years back the name Olumide and Ify Emmanuel will always ring a bell.

The interview was eye opening though. Watched it all.

Why forcing them to donate then and pay for either the blood or the screening when they will be asked again to go and buy blood when it is time to attend to their patient? It is cheating

Seems you are mixing it up, at the point of donation no payment is made, (except you paid someone personally to help donate ) when you need the blood thats when payment is made that's when people say they buy blood and the blood bank peeps say the amount paid to get the blood is cost of screening the blood donated.
Family / Re: Are Some Pry1 Pupils Lessons Not Too Much For Their Age? by NoToPile: 9:34pm On Mar 30
Seems they do more than 10 subjects from primary 1 or basic 1 in the Nigerian curriculum

It's bulky if you ask me. Phe, CRK, vocation stuff or is it social studies, home econs, basic sciences etc

My child does Yoruba and always sing the aiku aje isegun song I. E days of the week. it's the very basic they are taught - greetings and all that.

When you ask they say it's in the curriculum.

As long as the child is the proper age for the class they should cope.

I don't think you understood a word in the report you read above.

15k for screening each pint of blood? May be you are right though.

You already donated two pints in advance, why making you pay again? Does it even make sense to you?

No, it is not. The arrangement is fantastic, corruption is the problem here.

That's why they make the patients' people donate blood in advance. Sometimes, patients relatives would donate and they wouldn't need that blood again for a number of reasons

Wrong @bolded.

All the blood patients relatives donate can be mopped up by emergencies and then what happens when the people who donated need them? This thread and this discussion we are having now.

Let's leave the corruption part aside, that's another angle to the whole story.
Health / Re: The Blood Bank Fraud At LASUTH By Lola Okunrin by NoToPile: 5:46pm On Mar 30
nedekid:

It is called a blood bank. You deposit blood and when needed, you should atleast equal dose of blood.
If you deposit your cash in the bank, 6 months laster, your come to withdraw, is it the came excert notes you deposited you will be given? No, you get it from a pool of funds accumulated from other depositors.
Same thing with the blood bank, you deposit blood not donate in this case. Your blood is given to others that have donated earlier that needs it now, few months down the line when you need yours, it ought to be given to you from the pool of deposited blood. The issue of your deposited blood expired is not tangible then.
I think the major problem is the staff selling the blood and profiting off it, as in a bank cannot give out more than it has as it will be insolvent.

Let's even leave the racketeering aside.

The donation is meant to guarantee the availability of the no of pints you donated.

The issue always is at the point the blood is needed, there might not be blood available because other patients had used it.

When emergencies occur they won't wait to ask if they have donated or not, blood available at that point will be used to treat them and then those who donated might have nothing to use when it's time for them to use it. . Whether this is right or wrong is another thing entirely.

It still about supply. Point is in some cases donating does not guarantee blood will be available when the person needs it Which can be very heartbreaking

Is it meant to available - yes.

What if it's not then what happens? If there's excess supply we won't be having this discussion.

I did a little bit of training at Blood bank so I saw how the issues go, as far back as 09.

When the train collided with the BRT bus last year there were calls for blood donation if there was excess supply I doubt there would be such calls.

All I see is ignorance. People don't realise that donated blood expires after 35 days of refrigeration.

If you donate blood and it is over a month, your blood isn't useful again. Hospital labs need to better educate patients and their relatives to avoid all these insults.

People need to be enlightened more because a lot of people don't even understand all these you are saying,

Lots don't even understand why they are paying when they need the blood. Some know it's screening fee because they were told at some point, most feel they are being cheated.
Those that work in blood banks should speak up.

Lots don't understand that blood expires too.

I just belive the solution is if there's excess supply of blood all this won't happen. It's because it's scarce.

Then people should not be forced to donate blood Until when they need it.

Why should I donate blood in advance and then have to buy blood again when it is required?

The payment is for screening not the blood you are getting.
Whether it is donated in advance or at the point it's required you will pay for the blood gotten.

Blood issues can be one big wahala in general hospitals.

And people hardly donate, blood is not like drugs one can buy there has to be a supply. Once no supply it will be scarce hence the wahala we have here and there.

Even if the person has money if there's no blood what will happen?
Health / Re: The Blood Bank Fraud At LASUTH By Lola Okunrin by NoToPile: 10:24am On Mar 30
Hmmm.

Well, even if you donate in general hospitals you have to buy blood when you need it Seems it's the screening fee etc etc. Technically seems you are paying for the screening not necessarily the blood itself.

All pregnant women are to get someone to donate.
Paying someone to donate for you is at your own discretion, if we have more willing and fit donors maybe we can have a better system.

The donation is supposed to guarantee availability of blood when you need it

The availability when you need might be another issue entirely, generally when you have donated you should be guaranteed blood.

People should be more enlightened to donate blood willingly. Lots are scared,
Most will only do it for a fee.

Religion / Re: Pastor Chris 'Heals' Nine People On Stretchers (Video) by NoToPile: 11:24am On Mar 29
I think the a major issue is that we need more well groomed christains not church goers,

There used to be a process to all these things

Salvation - being led to chirst

Foundational or believers or new converts class - Different churches have different names for this. Here you are taught the basics, consecration, sanctification, holiness, holy spirt, gifts of the spirit etcetc.
Here some converts receive the gift of the holy spirit by the evidence of speaking in tounges, some much more later on
Basic things you ought to know as a believer is taught here.

Water baptism- some people actually think this is not significant grin

Then possibly membership class and so on.

A lot of people skip all these as new converts, even those born in church see no need for these.

The reason I am saying all these is because when you are equipped properly and in addition to your personal walk with God, naturally you will be able to discern.
You might not be able to place it but you know something is off. You don't really need to experience it it can be traumatic.

Merely watching a TV program, you will know if the church's foundation is of God or not.

Merely stepping into the church auditorium you will know.

Miracles are real, there is divine healing, as a true christain you can't deny this. Also I know you do not always need to be laid hands on to be healed. Healing can come through laying of hands and it can also come without laying of hands. There is also no distance in the realm of the spirit.

There are lots of fake pastors, fake ministries, those with powers from evil sources and so on but there are true men of God, those who God called and have not mixed another thing with their call ing.

There are also some that the GO is a true pastor but due to expansion and many branches there are a lot of branch pastors who have deviated and are now bringing disrepute to the church of God.

As a christain you should be well equipped not to fall prey . It's your duty to ensure you do not fall prey. Because the Bible has told us this will happen.

Properties / Re: Hardship: Rent Defaults Soar As Landlords, Tenants Clash by NoToPile: 11:46am On Mar 26
Fr33born:

How many Landlords in Nigeria, especially Lagos negotiates or discusses rent increment with Tenants?
Lagos Landlords just wake-up in the morning and double the rent and tell you to pack if you can't pay. And they don't increase in tens but in hundreds.

Landlords in Lagos negotiate rent.

I am a landlord and also a tenant and we negotiated rent with our landlord this past year. It's simple if your rent was increased by you can always negotiate.

Our landlord was trying to increase our rent to a new price simply because the new flat in the compound was let out at that price ( it's agents that cause all those wahala) we negotiated and let him see reasons why our old flat can't go the same rate and that we are old tenants and the flat let out is brand new.

Baba is based abroad he said okay how much will you pay, we told him he went up a bit from what we said we can add and we agreed.

Besides we had seen it coming because of the following

1. The price they let out the new flat,

2. Current prices of the same type of accommodation in the area which is about 2times what we pay even more depending on the facilities and all that and had prepared.

3. Inflation.

Oga landlord how we go do oo, please try and beat it down, consider us now if he doesn't agree then it's a different thing entirely.

Now imagine a case where our own tenant telling us we do not have a right to increase by whatever percentage.

We gave him maximum shishi. Radarada.

Landlords are humans too, if you deal with them nicely they will do same to you. My mum still collects 6 months from her tenants still they take advantage of an old woman.

It's wickedness to even think that your landlord should not increase rent at all.
You never jam the ones that will tell you it skipped their mind, due date of rent skips tenants mind in Lagos, some will never pay until you hound them. They expect you to be running after them even when they have the money to pay, irresponsible tenants. Some even when they don't have at the point of expiry of rent feel they don't owe you an explanation. Common courtesy they don't have so landlords will be brutal with these set.

Until one is on both sides one won't understand.

Houseontherock1:
Most landlords are not wicked; it's the situation. However, unless we built the house together, my tenants can't tell me how much to bill them for rent. They should realize that this financial hardship concerns everyone and landlords buy from the general markets too. If your income can't take 3 bedroom flats, just move to 2 bedrooms undecided

Shikena.

And some instead of some tenants to negotiate increment with abeg consider us they will be carrying shoulder high.

And some tenants have always owed even before the economy became bad, so those set will never move landlords in these times, it is those who have always been consistent you will consider if the tides turn for them.
