Our house was burgled some times back, broke through the burglary/wall on a Sunday we went to church and went visiting, there a church that's very noisy besides us so I guess that noise was used as a cover these guys had all the time in the world they ransacked our house head to toe, I mean dusted all our clothes one by one, even undies oo.I believe those guys even saw us drive out.

None of us were home oo but the fear stuck, even till now, anytime we all leave home it crosses my mind. Only that we now have a neighbour so we are now 2 . Even my son who was little then talks about the incident , calls them bad bad people.
Got home at night to that so we couldn't fix it immediately ,so scared they could come that night , my husband had to stay in the room they broke the burglary keeping watch, I and the children in another room. I was so scared, I doubt any of us had a wink of sleep that night.

It was then I understood the oyinbos talk about therapy, trauma etc etc.

For what I didn't even experience directly I still have it at the back of my mind, for a long time we made sure someone was always home, even on Sundays , changed the gate to jam key instead of padlock because we felt that's how they confirmed no one was truly home, anytime I remember it I always cringe and they took laptop, phones and tablet and a flat screen TV in carton (guess they didn't know it had a broken screen )

So I can't even imagine those who have experienced armed robbery. Hmm ...

Ha, I thought my customer was trying to cheat me when he told me beforee he could get to buy from suppliers on Monday he saw wheem, and it was expensive sef it was the third supplier that sold for him. We both thought it was the pengassan whatever.

He said he's selling 1300 as at Thursday oo. He sha sold for me 1270.Thank God I have filled my cylinders.

Then it will be extended to us Nigerians.
It's getting there already, they also want to control the retailing, then the shege will come, whatever price he determines is what we will be forced to buy.

Someone that wanted to prevent other marketers from importing petrol and wanted other marketers to be buying from him.

They now wrote a press statement saying 'in the interest of Nigerians ' loool and some are falling for it. Same way some gullible people believed petrol will be 400naira once the refinery starts working, so he will sell at a loss abi.

Nigerians can be very gullible honestly.

If they want to do thorough job, let them extend their tentacles to all other workers across the nation. Nobody will open his eyes and let one union bring his hard earned company down.

We have whole lots of Lebanese and Indian companies, in which Nigerians are working like slaves, yet unions didn't see them, but only oil money from Dangote refinery.

The unions are not saints but Dangote too is not a saint. Why are you hell bent on preventing those interested to join unions? To what extent.

Any company who is against the workers joining union does not have the interest of the workers at heart and wants to exploit them. It's as simple as that.

By experience we know this.

Also you cannot sack a worker for joining a union, they can decide not to join but if they join they must not be punished for it.

Of course Dangote no go gree, pengassan too no go gree they will tell him who do you think you are? Na you first waka come, other international companies dey before you and they respect themselves and the law of the land so who are you again sir?

You can't even sell some basic products unless you join an association. If you try it, the Association will threaten you, destroy your goods, and attack you and your staff. The constitution does not provide for this kind of unionism.

Let Dangote too re call the 800,workers and allow his refinery workers freedom to associate shikena,

Unionisation is not compulsory. Workers who are willing to join the union, signify their intention to be part of the union by obtaining a form fill same and send an email to the union.

Union matters are not peculiar to our country.
Nigeria is not a stand-alone country. We are signatory to the international labour acts and a member of the international labour organisation (ILO) whose task is to seek and ensure that workers' rights and benefits are protected.

Dont be fooled by Dangote's theatrics. He, just like many employers don't mean well for their employees.
If not for the Union. Many workers would be treated as slaves. While the employers act like they are doing the workers a favour by paying them paltry salaries. Forgetting that the company exists, progresses and make profit because dedicated employees are doing their best to meet the company's set goals. Hence, it is a symbiotic relationship. And not one of master-slave.

Imagine where I work. I worked for 10 years, and I never had pension, my tax are deducted, and there is no HMO.

But the moment I and my colleagues joined the union, the Union had back and forth with the company, took the matter to the ministry of Labour, the company was reprimanded and told to do the right thing or be ready to argue their case in the court stating why they should not be prosecuted for not complying with the nations pension act.

The right thing is to pay workers pension contributions.
They immediately agreed and complied.

Today. Just 4 years after compliance to paying the pension , it will amaze you to know that my pension balance is sitting at 13M. This is just for 4 years oh.

Now I have retirement benefits, good HMO, nice take home and my tax are also taken care of by the compnay. All of which were non-existent in my over 10 years of pre-unionisation work years.

No doubt, the union (PENGASSAN & NUPENG, etc ) smile to the bank with members dues , but trust me, it is worth every penny they take from me.

Have you forgotten how Dangote refused to tell Nigerians how much he was selling fuel to NNPC when he first started production and NNPC was the only OFF TAKER.

The price was high.
Nigerias were crying. Asking him to tell us how much he sold to NNPC for NNPC to be selling at that ridiculous pump price to Nigerians.
For months. He refused. Not until Independent marketers decided to boycott him and keep importing saying, it was cheaper for them.

He sued the NNPC to direct the Independent Marketers to buy from him and not to import.
What is more monopolistic than this?

He was called to order and later withdrew the case.

As a way to fight back, he reduced the prices of all his products. So as to reduce the profit margin for the importers.
So this was possible earlier, yet he didn't do it. Lol.

Whatever price reduction you see today is being made possible because of the price war between him and the Independent marketers who themselves are greedy lots and evil cabals in the oil & gas industry

As a result, you and I. The ordinary Nigerians are the beneficiary of whatever cold war exists between them.

Trust me, if Dangote has his way, with his monopolistic tendency, then it's finished for the oil and gas industry.

In case you are not aware, this current union action was a result of Dangote sacking all his workers who are pengassan members.
You dont do that now. That's called work place victimisation.

Just like you are arguing. Union member is voluntary. As long as the workers are willing to, employers are expected to recognise workers' rights of membership of any legal trade union.

Without people being union members, when evil, Wicked and profit driven employers like Dangote swing their hammer against the workers, who would stand for such workers?

Just like in this case, you just wake up to see that you have been sacked for whatever reason. Especially for being a union member. Would you be happy if no one rises and stands for you.

What this means is, bread winners would suddenly lose their means of livelihood.
Families are plunged into poverty and, of course, consequently untold hardship.
This singular act adds to the unemployment rate, with the possibility of attendant increase in crime rate as human instinct for survival kicks in naturally. All because of Dangote's ill advised move, in his bid to make a strong statement to the union.

This is exactly what the union is trying to fight off.
You cant just wake up as an employer to sack your employees and then replace them with Indians.

You can never have a stand-off with the UNION, especially when it comes to victimisation due to union membership and expect to win.

One of my babies had the cord round her neck, labour was progressing well and it was time to push, pushed first time, pushed again it seemed baby was bouncing back.
All of a sudden the matron said Mrs xyz stop pushing I was still trying to push, next thing she shouted Mrs xyz stop pushing!!! Her shout/scream caught me off guard for a very nice nurse so I calmed.

Next thing she chook her hand inside trying to use a finger to wriggle something, I sensed she was struggling with it , with the intensity of the way she was struggling the stuff was tight around something , she held those their scissors like stuff she used her finger to hold the stuff with and clipped with the scissors, next thing I felt was gboa, the baby came out.

Apparently it was the cord dragging the baby back it was very tight around her neck so anytime I pushed the thing was dragging her back . I was just saying howz my baby how's my baby, I was so distraught I couldn't even hear her cry. She just said calm down madam your baby is okay ,she's crying. After assessing her she said this your baby is 'oriyomi'.

Thank God because those on ground were experienced to know what to do at that time.

I dunno if there's a scan that can detect that stuff now.

There's money in lagis politics and a possible reason for them killing themselves. I know of a low cadre staff who had built 2 mansions in lagos. NURTW isn't left out here. I know of a secretary who lived close to orile agege general hospital who died mysteriously too. I was at my sister's house during his house warming ceremony.All key union members were in attendance. I agree with your submission about money being the motivating factor, there's money in Lagos. Some agencies are more juicer than others but the juice is there.

You would hate politics anytime you visit alausa. I know of 2 senior officers who died this year alone. They were both in their early 50s. No sign of ailments. One was just promoted while the other was due. They were already celebrating his new position when the news broke out that he slumped and died. Someone who had no history of HBP.

They use charm against each other to get promoted faster. They go farther than you see them in the physical. The other day my neighbour, a senior officer at LABSCA said she saw what we call tira dangling on her entrance door handle in the office. There was a time she wanted to sit and her instinct said she should check the seat cover, what she sits on everyday. She saw 2 tiny needles pointing out. Maybe the needles had been soaked in charms and once it touches her blood, na to collapse straight.
The woman too no be easy woman but she doesn't harm anyone. They're afraid of her in that place cos they've tried her many tines but failed. She too travels for medical check up every 3 months overseas.

While your submission is correct office politics especially in govt work is the same in most states not only Lagos, normal office politics is playing your game well but charms are involved in government offices not only Lagos, different charms and asaasi, even in public universities , general hospitals, teaching hospitals , federal agencies are not left out
