@Morounofolu, are you sure you are a newbie? With this type of ambition or goal, I doubt it.
Take it easy o. Though nothing is impossible, we have to be realistic given the current economic and market conditions of listed equities.
The real problem is that he could be a newbie, and he could actually make 300% this year.

And that's where the problem kicks in. He would think that's how the capital market works. So he'd bring the entire N30m, sell his car and some real assets to invest all in the NGX; and then have a budget of what he'd do with the N500m profit he would make from the venture grin

Yeah, I understand that. It will be scarce in the first few days or weeks after listing.
My plan is to leave some reasonable funds in my brokerage account, so I can place a standing order once the suspension is lifted and it is listed for trading.
The other option is to subscribe heavily if they come via public offer.
Your standing order would be market order?

If they do public offer, the price may not be attractive.

Thanks for this heads up.
I will not let Providus-Unity pass me by, God willing.
And thanks for all your stock picks in 2025
You have not considered how improbable it will be to lay hands on it once live on the NGX

I'm not so sure what you recommend -- selling to avoid regret -- is wise, although I appreciate it depends on one's investment goals and approach.

The feeling of regret you describe is called loss aversion. It's a powerful psychological motivator that the best investors resist. It nudges you to sell when you shouldn't, and freezes you from buying when you should be aggressive -- all because you're market gazing, i.e., obsessively watching short-term market signals.

In general, I only (rarely) sell when my investment case on a stock has broken down. I bought WAPCO in the 50s because Nigeria needs massive private and government investments in capital assets, because the industry is a price-gouging oligopoly with high competitive barriers, and because Lafarge was the most efficient of the cement makers. I'm willing to take a 50% retracement from the current price to see that thesis play out. I'm not selling until the reasons I bought it deteriorate, or the stock gets to N2,000. grin
So you will sell WAPCO at 2000. grin

At least that means you have a price target.

I'm not really deep into analysing stocks now like I used to do. But it's something I will definitely resume later. But we have some semblance. I won't sell Dangcem even if it goes to 200. I bought it much less, and, if I calculate very well, the stock may have paid for its price in dividends over the years.

When you said you bought WAPCO in the 50s, I don't know if you meant when the price was in 50s or in 1950s. I bought that stock in good quantities at less than 30 naira per share. My 'good quantity' is definitely not up to what folks like Sunrisepebble or Oga Emma buys in one tranche cheesy

I haven't sold a unit. I considered selling last year at the peak of the takeover, and, by God, I'm thankful that I didn't.

Advice, I don't think I have attained the level to advise anyone on this thread as I have many people I look up to here. But in my short experience so far, I have found that selling can be beneficial when uncertainty abounds, especially when I'm in good profit. If I have no immediate stocks to enter, I always use FSDH and Stanbic.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by NSEstudent: 6:55pm On Feb 10
Folks have shouted greed and market bottom for a very long time. Chief among whom is Oga Agba.

This market has a mind of its own. grin

For avoidance of doubt, I take some profits but largely left winning stocks running. There is no guarantee I will keep them indefinitely.

I wanted to sell all my NB late last year, but the price went down below my targeted price, I ended up selling less than 10%, at about N58. Imagine that I sold all.

There are some stocks I have, with absolutely no intention of selling a single unit in the foreseeable future. Dangcem is one, Presco is the other. MTNN, may be another. Unfortunately, I don't have good units in them.

All these may mean nonsense in some contexts grin

The regret you feel when a stock you sold appreciates more, is nothing compared to watching your stocks lose millions of paper profits and run into paper losses. So it goes without saying that selling some units is advisable, pertinent even.

Oh yeah, I already got that. It's been a life saver, especially its mid quality streaming options.

But I'm looking for an app that has sky sports news UK. I love watching them analyse premier League games. Or even any app that has super sports blitz cos they tune in to sky sport every day by 11am and 7pm.

Youcine used to have super sports blitz but it disappeared and hasn't been seen since
If you have a good IPTV player, find Xtream codes or Stalker that has UK channels in it.

I bought an ODU last 2 Saturday’s ago (31st) and chose Wednesday (4th) as the day of installation, cos my sub on my first ODU was bound to expire Thursday (5th). Installer activated my device 30 minutes after paying for it on that Saturday and started calling me to come for installation. It pissed me off so much and i just couldn’t stand that my sub has been activated cos it was a waste as I already had one at home. To cut the long story short, an Airtel supervisor told me to collect the device from them and report the issue only when I had gotten the device. I received the device Tuesday (3rd), and my sub had been reading since Saturday . I called customer care last Saturday (8th), and asked to speak with a supervisor, complained bitterly and I was told that it would be investigated. I checked my data validity today to see that it has been extended by 1week extra.
They try with those extensions

It's Airtel of course. But he implied that it works for other uses but the iptv. I have some websites that Airtel struggle to open except I use VPN. Sites like pexels.

Don't know how a VPN would work on VIDAA OS (Hisense), my iptv is updated.

It works well with other networks, but doesn't with Airtel
Omo, I no sabi that vida OS. If I used a Hisense TV, I would buy an Android TV box for it. In any case, you should search to see if you can find a VPN that runs on that OS.

If Airtel is good in your place and it's just the iptv, then it's a problem a VPN can fix.

Okay.
So I will have one at home and one at my shop. Can one sub work for the two. Don't be offended.
Shebi I don explain how you go run this thing Bros?

Na the sim card you go dey use. If you dey commot for house, you go carry the sim card put for tweaked mifi or pocket so that when you reach work, you now put am for the router at work place.

As a matter of fact, this is what I do, despite having two ODUs. I just subbed another one today as the other one expired.

If I understood you well. I am getting two ODU? and the ZLT M30? How can one sub work on the two. Please I am in Onitsha and I need someone here that is close to help me.
Go to official Airtel office and request for ODU. You will get one ODU first. I already explained how you can use it on two devices. But if you don't mind subscribing two at the same time, you can buy two now and keep one at home, the other at work place.

My proposal was that you get one now, then a suitable mifi with which you can be using it at work and anywhere else. Then when the first ODU sub expires, you get another one which you can mount at work place.

Please I want to get Airtel unlimited data Router but I need clarification on this.
Is it still working? I would want to be using it both at home and in my shop. I hope it's what I can move from location to location. I have a good Airtel network in both locations.
Kindly advice me. I can pay the 30k monthly subscription.
The ODU/IDU pair is designed to be stationary. If you want to use the same sub in different places, then you'd do a few things. One, you should tell them to register the ODU for you with physical Sim. If they refuse as they are wont to do, you take the esim and, when you go home, you find a place to swap it for a physical sim.

Lastly you get a portable router (Mifi) tweaked to work with broadband bundles. Wahab has premium ZLT X30 you can buy and tweak. If you're on budget, I have a pre-owned ZLT M30 already tweaked to work with broadband bundles, for small amount wink

If you finish the sub, you can get another ODU and station that one at your work place.

The ip you're using is for the indoor unit
Use this instead 192.168.254.1
Correct. Except if it's different for G5FA, in which case he should look at the backside or any other side of the ODU to get the IP.

That is the game. Most company rise immediately dividend is annouced. Once qualification date is past, majority return back to their normal price it was selling. It is a sure way of making a better profit. But, it doesn't work for all companies.
This stopped working some years ago. It was a sure odd before that.

Since the web interface is similar to that of G5F, I suppose the mobile version will be the same. The options are given the same names on mobile as well.

The screenshots below are from mobile. If you select the developer options and put password, it will show the bands.
