4litres: Yes, with the zte. Already had a power bank so no issues there plus i imagined a lot of people will have this. Cool. It's easy to use the ZTE with most routers with WAN port. Also, that ZLT M30 is an underrated router. My problem with it is its small battery, and it uses micro USB instead of type C. I travel with it all the time with my ODU sim. |

4litres: So i have been following the thread for awhile now and i have learnt a lot from all of u. I also want to give a small update I just discovered. So i have this m30 mifi that has wan port and i decided to use it in place of the idu so as to reduce the bulk and battery consumption when moving it around. Lo and behold, it worked like a charm and the battery now lasts way over 12hrs since it's only the odu that's now connected to it. So basically, the idu was the main culprit on the power bank since it uses dc power. This also means, if u have any mifi that has a wan port on it, doesn't matter if it's mtn or airtel, it will work. You're using the M30 with the ZTE ODU I guess? M30 is probably not PoE capable and won't work with ZLT ODUs. Or is it Huawei? You'd still need to charge M30 from time to time. |

nicestlady: I've been hearing a lot of words since I recently started following this thread. If anyone can help with their meanings.
Monkey hunters Profit takers Bearish market Bullish JIJO 1. If you have really been following, you must have read the story of the man who went to a village and declared he's buying off all their monkeys, thereby making monkey a hot commodity, albeit momentarily. You should use the words I have already written to search for the full story. In a nutshell, monkey hunters are those who promote stocks they already bought to create demand for it and then pull out at profit, leaving adherents stranded. 2. Profit takers are literally PROFIT TAKERS. In most contexts here, they are those who bought a particular stock when it was cheaper than current price and are now selling to 'take' their profits. So when they are in good numbers, they can cause a stock to appear bearish whereas everything else points bullish about the stock. 3. Bearish market is a season or a period during which most stocks lose in price, causing the index to also lose points, in most cases. 4. Bullish is the opposite of bearish. 5. JIJO = jump in jump out. So if you are not sure of the direction of the market or you're not willing to make commitments like long termers, you can use a series of market strategies to discover entry and exit points and execute them. If you do this, you're a jigoist |

You said something like get a new device, Would I have to pay for that or? Take it to where you bought it. They should be able to find out what the problem is and probably fix it. The new device, you'd have to pay for it, unfortunately. But you can keep the old one too if you want. |

enoch5553: ZLT X17U This particular ODU dey worry, but if I haven't tested my own Sim in it and it worked, I would have laid the blame on it alone. So, the device is not the problem. Although there may be something about it that makes some people who were baptized into the ODU kingdom through it to be having the most complaints, one of whom is my guy. When you call customer care, what do they say? Have you taken it to the specific office you bought from, did they say anything useful? I will assume your location has terrible Airtel network but it seems you said somewhere that you have tested a normal Sim with it. If it is confirmed the sim is the problem, you should just go take another device and sim. They have a new ZTE device now, G5FA, a junior brother to G5F. |

akinremedy: solution is to add an alternate number to your device sim. Airtel has been disconnecting people for a while now. I had to visit their office to add mine yesterday and it worked immediately Didn't they initially register it with alternate number? I suppose this will be the problem my guy is facing but he's decided he'd get the new ZTE G5FA next week. |

It came back around 11pm yesterday and I was getting 50mbps and today it went back to below 1mbps. What can be done to resolve this situation?? There is only so much we can do. fuckboys: they all share same pci of 401, you lock them together with the cell number also. Okay, so this is actually another angle, a crucial one. Some of those cells are available in more than one bands. If you lock a common cell, and the cell is really good, you will enjoy it. If the one on one band misbehaves, it jumps to the other band. The same thing happens if you lock to a single band, say band 7, which I do sometimes. If your area can get many cells on band 7, it will be throttling between cells to give you best service. What people do is to write down these cells and band frequencies so that if they get the combination (frequency and cell) which gives the best result, they lock them and enjoy, happily ever after, theoretically. But bear in mind that locking may not help when Airtel is generally bad, which happens all the time and almost all nights in my place. |

Tover: I took my ODU router to test it at my elder brother’s house. Since it’s a new area, he has been experiencing network issues across all available networks. I went there hoping the ODU would make a difference, but to my surprise, when I locked the router to Bands 3 and 8, the signal strength on the router page was full and it even showed 4G+. However, the speed was only about 500 kbps. When I switched to Band 7, it showed “no service,” yet the speed increased to around 800 kbps. Is there any solution to this? Those bands can be useless at times. And they are always available with best signal metrics. Band 8 sometimes can be manageable but band 3 is mostly useless The good thing is that I locked band 7 and used it for tracking with install helper app. I mostly leave all bands unlocked, so the router selects band 7 virtually all the time. The best band. Only on rare occasions does it periodically use band 8. |

Osyxcel: You mixed it up.
Band: B1, B3, B7, B8 (4G), N78 (5G) Frequency (EARFCN): 3256, 3400, 3500 (4G), 627264 (5G) Cell (PCI): location dependent and could be anything from 0-503 (4G), 0-1007 (5G)
Best not to lock cell. I was implying this all along. These are band frequencies and not cells. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 3:29pm On Jan 20 |
enoch5553: I tried that, Maybe i should drop more info
I've tried band locking each band one by one, The only one that got me some semblance of speed were the bands that forced my network to 3g, When doing so i got 11mbps thereabout but it was pretty incosistent, Those were bands 20, 28, 38, 41 Apparently this happened because those bands are not in your area or even in Nigeria. By the way, I found this as a trick to force my ODU to use 3G. If I do select 3G only, sometimes the service will be available but internet connection will either not switch or when it switches, it won't be usable. So what I do is to lock a cell I made up, on any of the LTE bands, then the router will start using 3G. It will work for long before being unusable. I don't know why 3G does that. If it works infinitely, I wouldn't mind using only 3G as it seems to stream well sometimes, especially on those Airtel bad nights. |

Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 9:43am On Jan 20 |
williams85: He is right, for you to cell lock you will need the PCI and the EARFCN. But to band lock, just tick the band you want. Those numbers he mentioned are not PCIs. They are band frequencies. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 8:01am On Jan 20 |
fuckboys: I think y'all shouldn't band lock but cell lock only.
First remove cell and band lock, go to system status and check for all available cells and bands in your location then lock only the cells with this highest numbers. The higher the cell number the closer the cell tower to you.
My case is cell 3400, 3250 and1876 and band 7,7 and 3. All I did was lock just cell 3400 and 3250. Don't lock bands and you're good. Those numbers you mentioned are not cells but band frequencies. In other words, you're still locking the bands. By the way, how were you able to lock multiple frequencies? Which router are you using? |

dejiman: TODAY - 19TH JANUARY 2026.
Barely 2 months into acquiring the AIRTEL ODU ZLT X17U, all working well and smooth until some devices stopped connecting to the Router 2.4Ghz Wifi.
I cannot connect to the 2.4Ghz wifi. Some recent devices connects to the 5Ghz wifi fine. I tried different troubleshooting, including re-setting, factory rebooting, but no luck.
I cannot connect to the the 2.4ghz network. Everything was fine about two months ago. Nothing have changed in the routers at home, work or friend house.
I spent the longest hours at the Airtel Office in Omida, Abeokuta but they couldn't do anything.
I will advice people should be cautious in making their decision about the device.
If you're having the same issue, please let me know.
Thanks Another bad review for X17U |

NSEstudent: I am also looking to get that Huawei.
Nobody has talked about ZTE IDU. It may have it. I will try to connect it tonight and explore it to see. So if you don't get Huawei, you can try ZTE. So the ZTE IDU, MF296A, does have a guest Wi-Fi feature. However, unlike ZTE MC801a, which I am currently using, it does not set the number of devices that can connect to the guest ssid. It does have the feature to set the number of hours a guest device can apparently access your network; which is good. The two UIs are shown in the attached photos. MC801A is the second image.
