It is because we are not the only one. Europeans are not good at drawing borders we know but that has not stopped some countries from developing. Take a look at India, the modern nation of India is a recent country in the grand scheme of things, the English drew borders haphazardly when creating India but that has not stopped them from developing. Today India is an emerging superpower.

For a while now blaming the West for Africa's numerous problems have been a favourite topic for a lot of political commentators. A lot of us Africans have been told and now firmly believe that they are the cause of everything that is wrong with us from stealing our resources, sponsoring terrorism, destabilising economies to even corrupting the present generation. These people talk loudly about how they (the West) have kept Africa in bondage and prevented our development all in a bid to keep us down and keep them up. This narrative is at best, a gross misunderstanding of how the world works or at worst, a well done misinformation campaign trying to mess with our minds. A few things we need to understand is that:

1. Every nation acts in its own national interest. Let me get this out the way; Westerners are not saints, they can do and have done many terrible things and they did it all to benefit themselves. But every nation has the right to further its own interests. And this was especially true a few centuries ago when the "Scramble For Africa" was in full swing. They left their continent, came to Africa and took everything they could all in the name of their respective countries. In other words they were acting in their own interests, just like the hundreds of tribes they met here. The empires they met here also did the same albeit on a smaller scale. We were not saints neither were they, everyone was doing what was best for themselves.

2. We are the cause of our problems. A pregnant woman is going to die today because the money allocated for medical supplies in her village health centre was embezzled. A young lady with her whole life ahead of her will die today because of the incompetence of the Nigerian Police Force and a child will go to bed hungry today because of the economic policies a man in Abuja crafted and implemented. Somebody is going to die today because of fake drugs, another because there was no money for treatment. None of these were caused by the West. The rot in our society was not caused by the West but by ourselves. We shouldn't blame them for things that are clearly our fault.

3. We should take responsibility for our problems. A man who goes around blaming his problems on others is not ready to tackle them and reeks of irresponsibility. So also a nation that goes around blaming other nations for its problems is also not ready to tackle said problems and also reeks of irresponsibility. We are not animals but humans who are as smart as our mates anywhere in the world. We should be able to recognise our problems and then try to solve them without casting blame. South Korea did not go around blaming the West for its problems but sat down and tried to solve them. Today South Korea is an economic powerhouse with better standards of living than its northern neighbour North Korea. Japan is arguably one the nations that have suffered the most at the hands of the Westerners but look at them today, an economic giant with the most powerful passport in the world. We should try to be like them, problem-solvers instead of blame-seekers.

Never in recent history have we had this level of interest in the actions of the president. Every word spoken, visitor received and appointment made have been scrutinised and nitpicked by both sides. On one hand we have the BATified, these people treat every action of Mr. President as that of a political genius, the kind of genius that comes around once in a generation and they are not afraid to let us know it. They keep us updated about everything including the Nigerian Stock Exchange (since when?). On the other hand we have the OBIdients, these people are the fault finders, they see these last weeks as initial gra gra and they are patiently waiting for any mistake that they can pounce on. They are also waiting for their principal to come and take his rightful seat.
The actions of the BATified comes from the fact the election was marred with controversies so they have a lack of legitimacy to deal with while our OBIdient brothers still don't believe that Peter Obi did not win.
The past few weeks have been dramatic and I am personally waiting to see what the next few years will be like.
We should have elections like this more often😉.

Putin started this unjust war for heaven's sake. He is just embarrassed that what he thought would be a 3 day special military operation, is already a 1 year plus war.

That hand is gone, it will take the grace of God and quality medical attention for that hand to heal again and I don't think that is possible with the kind of hospitals we have.
I would have advised you to break the habit loop but I don't think that is possible anymore.
Open up to your relatives and friends, you need support from them now more than ever. Let them understand that you are sick and need help.
Go to a good teaching hospital, if they can't help then they should be able to direct you to someone who can.
It's going to be hard, just put that at the back of your mind but with good and quality medical attention, you will be fine.

Democracy did not destroy any thing. Things did not start getting bad in 1999. Military era was one of the most corrupt eras in Nigeria history. It was crude oil that covered their shame. Corruption, nepotism, religious extremism and tribalism destroyed Nigeria. Democracy is the only form of government that can work in Nigeria.

5 reasons why I think PMS subsidy removal will not be as bad as people think:
1. Diesel is the main fuel used in haulage. Since we longer enjoy subsidy on diesel, producers and transporters have already absorbed the increase in price.
2. Diesel is also one of the the main fuel used in large scale power generation by companies. As mentioned earlier, the increased cost have been absorbed.
3. NLG is the another fuel used in large scale power generation by companies and the price of gas is going down.
4. Our refineries are coming back online. Apart from Dangote refinery, there are repair works going on in our other refineries and the chairman of BUA is also building a refinery in Akwa Ibom. Multiple players mean competition and as we all know competition drives down prices of goods and services.
5. NNPC released a statement that they would soon start giving companies license to import PMS, thereby increasing competition in that sector.
Things will be hard for some time but PMS subsidy removal is one of the hard decisions we need to take to set this country on the right path.

While i was in camp, i came across alot of tribes and when i had a conversation with them. I was made to understand that many of them "worked" their way to that camp. Subsidy is the least of our worries in comparison to fx arbitrage. The latter is the real monster, and it will fight back dirty. People sit in their homes an use bank connections to make millions daily, and you just want to take that away? If Tinubu successfully unifies both fx windows, I will be his supporter till his tenure elapses. Curbing fx arbitrage would lead to a massive boost in investments. People who have money won't be looking to make cheap profit from off the exchange market any longer. They'd look for ways to either put them in the banks or invest in real sectors of the economy. These are things I expected Buhari to do, and he failed woefully.

While I won't go as far as saying subsidy is the least of our worries, if he can unify the exchange rate then I will know that he means business and like you I will be one of his supporters
