Ok so I am new at this. My senior bro gave me a Phantom 5 and don’t get too excited; he didn’t buy it for me, it was given to him to review as his company wanted to find out if it was worth giving out as gifts to their prestigious clients and top managers. Knowing I love techy devices and trendy gargets, he loaned it to me for a week to review and revert on it.

So, I am taking it a day at a time to view, use and comment on each unique app on the device.

Day One: Behold the camera

Today, I told myself since it was late at night, I would try the much talked about dual natural flash and low light camera combo.

It was 8:15pm. An hour after my brother gave me the phone to try and I was hanging out with my BFF, Chid. We were seeing a late night movie so I thought, this is the best time to take a picture cause the viewing hall was dark so…snap-snap and there it was. Just like they said; the picture was clear, every detail captured and looks so natural. We stepped out and took more pictures in the parking lot and got so carried away at the finesse that we literally looked out for dark corners and items to take pictures.

Day Two, [/b]I must say one thing that caught my fancy in the new TECNO Phantom 5 is its trendy look. This sleek device blends with any personality be it professional, geeky, stylish, matured or youthful- the Phantom 5 design definitely top my Smartphone design of the year.

[b]Investigating the 5 star rated Finger print sensor

It isn’t the first Smartphone to use finger print scanner as part of its security, Samsung and Apple have done a whole lot in this area but one thing that draws me to the Phantom 5 finger print sensor is the location. I kinda like the fact that all I need is to gently place my index finger on a subtle groove right at the rear and this smart phone and it unlocks-less show off, just the way I like it. Most other devices will have you sliding or holding a thumb over the ‘Home’ button, not bad though just that the rear position of Phantom 5 scanner is subtler, lol.

Touch-accurate

Guys, I can’t forget this quote by one of them TECNO Mobile staff at the Phantom5 launch in September 2015 and I tell you it’s rock-solid true!

My question; which finger print scanner type do you prefer? Slide-over or touch n’ hold.[/b]

Trust me, I am not in any way trying to talk down any type of finger print scanner used in a smart phone, every Finger print technology (PFC) I have seen is amazing but some are more amazing than others.

Take for instance, my friend uses a ‘big’ smart phone (name withheld), very big I must say. The finger print scanner on this smart is the slide-your-thumb-over kind of scanner and I bet I have seen her slide hers a couple of times over before that tiny computerized guard behind the ‘Home’ button figured it was time to let madam into her phone-that’s crazy.



But that on the new TECNO Phantom 5 is just great; being a nice little groove below the solid 13MP auto-focus Rear camera; the Phantom5 scanner is touch and hold type, not the slide-over type.

Look, I know xioami builds quality phones, but the tecno phantom 5 looks more premium than the mi4. Unless by quality wise u mean price then u win . But then that would also mean the mi4 is better quality than a galaxy s6 edge.

Are u saying all these because xiaomi is new to the Nigerian market? To be frank I think the tecno looks a better phone than the xiaomi mi4.That thing is running android KitKat for God's sake. And snapdragon 801 is outdated. Also the phantom 5 has a better build quality. It even has a fingerprint scanner and sd card. Let's be honest here and call a spade a spade, phantom 5 is 64 bit running lollipop and better build quality. How can u say the xiaomi mi4 is better just because it's got snapdragon 801 vs mtk.

Oh before u sleigh me, I don't use either phones. In fact I hate Chinese phones. I use a galaxy s6 and HTC one.

@OP, there was a treaty! All the Telecoms companies signed it. MTN broke an agreement they signed, why should they not pay? You are mixing things up here!
They were aware of the amount involved before they signed and as well broke the law. You coming here to say the fine levied on them is heavy is unjustified! A RULE IS A RULE.

I feel very sad about the issue, and more sad is the way people are talking. I read through the comments of the south african law maker worries and its just sad.

Yes I support Mtn being fined if the broke the law but the fine is too much! It no longer a thing of they broke the law, its now a thing of because it is a south african company, and I see people saying Dstv is next. My question is, would giving them heavy fines make them a better company than they are now? Or would it make them provide better service? Let's be reasonable.
If it was Glo it happened too, would you put all the so much effort you are putting now to make sure they pay? No. because its a nigerian company.
and someone said "south african the home of xenophobia" well, xenophobia means the fear of foreigners. If you ask me, this is the same reason we want mtn to pay these fines! The same reason we want dstv to leave. Xenophobia is the f'in reason for "ghana must go" xenophobia started the civil(biafra) war cos of the fear of igbos in the north who were murdered before igbos decided to cut out of the country, then the war began! So my friend we are not "holy" we need to stop all these! If we claim these south african companies don't offer good services, we should make them to do so not ask them to pay fines. Why did NCC , not say MTN should offer free calls to Nigerians for a day instead? Too me it sounds like "eh en this foreign people don enter our trap today, we go show them pepper" and this is called "wickedness". then excuses everywhere of why they must pay the fine on one of those many excuses is they make so much money of nigerians, I don't get, is the services they offer suppose to be free? You claim they make so much off nigerians? Well the last time I check they have the cheapest calls! And you guys don't consider how much they spend in running a network in a country like Nigeria where there is no light! So every single mast (which there are thousands in this country as they cover the widest range) is powered by diesel generator 24/7. Now take a second and calculate how much they spend.

If they did not care about their customers, it would not be a big deal to cut them off. Etisalat rates are not cheaper, airtel network service is poor, Glo is not better than MTN in anyway! They do not deserve to be treated the way they are. It is unfair!

If they must be fined, the fine is too much! NCC should reduce it and stop treating them that way simply because its a south african company because it is not because they broke the rule at all.

One more thing, if they pay the money, where does it go too? Into NCC leaders pocket?
