WebmastersRe: Forum Traffic by nuckecy(m): 10:53am On Jan 12, 2009
I can see!!

Let me start this way!

Definitions

Traffic means;

1. The number and types of people who come to a Web site. Measured in many different ways.

2. Communication over a network and especially the amount of communication over a network. In network technology, traffic is usually measured in bits per second or packets per second.

3. Site audience.

4. Data packets being transmitted over a network.

5. this generally means visitors to your site. The term is often used in search engine marketing and advertising when people talk about ‘driving ,

6. The volume of visitors to a website. Traffic is the currency of online success, but is not the only factor.

7. is the number of Internet users accessing and viewing a website.

8. is the total amount of visitors who visit your website. It is a general term denoted to describe the actual number of humans or bots visiting your site.

9. The amount of visitors and visits received by a website.
----

This definition should help you. If you have any questions again post it. If u looking for definitions just type in google "define: traffic ". It will give you several definitions base on context.

WebmastersRe: I Need A Graphic Tutor by nuckecy(m): 2:58pm On Jan 09, 2009
Hey, I believe you don't really need a tutor to help you achieve what you want. You can actually do it alone if you have these list;

1. Time
2. Passion
3. A computer or laptop and all the applications you need installed.

Now creativity grows from the inside. If its in you it will flow. Please don't bother yourself if you cant spit it like fire not everyone has it. We all have our role to play. One could be a Developer and the other a Designer. Teaming up they can benefit and achieve goals together. Over the years I've realized that I can develop more sites if i involve more than 2 hands and brains.

What I have to offer you is the above list, some encouragements (Believe me you can do it alone without a tutor) and few websites to kick start a self tutor and some extended tips to become a good designer.

Encouragements

Believe me you can do it alone without a tutor

Websites:

1. http://tutorialized.com
2. http://pixel2life.com
3. http://psdtutts.com (Envato Network)

Now the extended tips, hmmmmm. Well maybe later.
WebmastersRe: I'm Testing Nairalist.com: What Do You Think? by nuckecy(m): 11:09am On Jan 07, 2009
@Seun

Nice work!! Its gonna be a great site though. It looks more like ad Admin view of all entries.

My suggestion is;

1. Make the site a 2 or 3 column CSS based.
2. Make the states and all the different catergory a dropdown list, its gonna be very weird having all 36 states displayed on the page.

I'll keep tab to see how its growing. Its a nice work.

WebmastersMy Boss Suggests All: But Am A Web Designer by nuckecy(op): 8:12pm On Dec 17, 2008
Hey a friend of mine made a complain to me today -

"that he doesn't know what to do about the current situation he is right now. Presently he is working for a Web Development Company as a Web Designer while his colleagues do the coding. The situation is he can't conceive his skill because his boss makes the suggestion on how he wants the site to be and look like, the boss doesn't exhibit any graphic flare. Wrong colour combination etc. Am just fade up"

I mean this guy is good but he wants some suggestion on what he should do. I gave him mine, source for another place because you are killing ur ideas,because before you know it, you be thinking like him.

Lets talk about this.
WebmastersRe: Feedback On New Website (www.djdouglasmusic.com) by nuckecy(m): 1:51pm On Dec 17, 2008
@ Kris

You've done a great job there!! I like it. My suggestion is;

1. Make background that will have all the margin to 0. It will look nice that way.
2. Recommend an MP3 encoder to the DJ, then let him know that no matter how long the songs are he can still encode it to a smaller size for people to download.

That's my review.

@ Yawa

I recommend an Award for you. Nairaland Best Reviewer (NLRB)
WebmastersRe: Web Designer/ Graphics Designer by nuckecy(m): 5:55pm On Dec 09, 2008
This is an interesting Post, Yawa am glad you here to smooth things out. He said all no need to contribute. But I can testify, I migrated from Graphic Designer to Web Designer to a Developer, this occurred in a span of 10 years working underground. Its shares a common trend.

But its hard to reverse from Developer to Web Design, such one might not produce the same stuff like a Designer. I take my leave.
WebmastersRe: Webdesign : Can You Do It All? by nuckecy(m): 2:48pm On Dec 02, 2008
@ MT

Yes as a Webmaster you are expected to know all the technologies to an EXTEND. Based on my experience I've discovered that IT is dynamic and if one needs to know the technologies it means you might not even have time to work. Its best one know at least 2 programming languages and other which might be relevant in the field to an extent.

Working alone in a huge job (example php or ajax or asp) wont pay to a good end if you choose to work. I strongly believe on team work to accomplish the goal at hand. As a team, others can troubleshoot errors and contribute to problems if one's head gets clustered. Thats my take in the question.

@ quadrillio

Am curious about where you belong. You should have given a straight suggestion on the question.

quadrillio:
NB:Curiousity kills the Cat

all what u mention are necessary for a Web Designer not a Web master I believe you know the different.

Web Designer (primary school)

Web Developer (Secondary School)

Web Master (University)  grin  grin  grin  lipsrsealed
Well according your rating above I can't seem to see where you belong, you forgot that before one will call itself an WEBMASTER he must know what a DEVELOPER & DESIGNER should know, same to a DEVELOPER to DESIGNER.

WebmastersRe: Preview This Site Plsssss by nuckecy(m): 11:15am On Oct 13, 2008
Switchmax, this the first time am commenting on website reviews, but I just want to say "You've tried". I respect your work, its Good though but just to work on your graphic abilities. Most webmasters started with CODING and after perfection they became complacent, forgeting Graphic. I never Thought about Coding until recently, am building it up.

Everyone had one or two hitches before the became good. My first website I designed I thot it was the best, but later I improved with time. I worked underground and improve myself. So you just have to work underground. If rush to get jobs, else you risk your portfolio.

Get an Original Copy of Photoshop CS3, its the best and its what I use. Get more information on Pixels (handling Graphics and images). Get an account for Stock images and alot more. Just give a good attention to Graphics before you know it your websites will scale through W3C validation.

Here are reference to some websites that really help me in my Graphics: www.pixel4life.com & www.tutorialized.com. Good for Photoshop Tutorials on Pixelization.

Do your thing!

WebmastersRe: Joomla Cms 4 Web Design by nuckecy(m): 11:09am On Oct 11, 2008
I've known Joomla for a year. Used it to develop the University of Port Harcourt website with a collegue. Its kool but complicated. One have to map out its linking before starting. It's easy, u need CSS much more than PHP, PHP comes when installing the app. For you to be able to input your own graphic you need to know Photoshop or Firefox ie (pixelization in my own words).

On the otherhand, Joomla bends me to a certain design or template. I prefer to design my sites from the Scratch,  Joomla is not for 6-10 page design. Its for cooperate firms, universities etc. ie 20-100 pages or catergories etc.

That's ma experience.

WebmastersCuil: Am Still Down With Google by nuckecy(op): 12:40pm On Jul 29, 2008
Hey guyz, Cuil the new search engine on the Web, founded by an Ex-Google staff. I've just checked it out, kool CSS and Web 2.0 compliant. But come to check the search ranking, I still prefer Google.

Although its features a new kind of search display, like an on line magazine display with image by the side. But Google still beats it when it comes to functionality.

Google said " they welcome the competition but they are still the best". What do you think guy. www.cuil.com

WebmastersRe: Using *Dreamweaver* (webdesign) by nuckecy(m): 3:21pm On Jul 19, 2007
Is it only one profile page u wan arrange or a site wit lots of profile page?

1. If na only one u wan arrange no need to look for a default pic, just give a dull colour wen u ready to fix a pic u can do that or create a picture script as
<div id="MaPIC"> (no space) <img src="images/me.jpeg" width="80" height="73" /> (no space) </div> like such optimize a picture in photoshop or any app with a dull colour or a place art to take the place. When the picture u want to replace is ready just upload using the same file name it willl just take its place.

2. if na lots of profile pages is wat u want, its has to be handled by a database script like php/mysql. U need to have an idea of such.

I believe i don give small help?
