I'll even wear Nigerian boxers once the come in the desig.

I love Nigeria..

If you've grown up in Nigeria without being fiercly patriotic you must have your head examined- I swear.

Deepzone I think I'll invite MC Usman to come see this. You actually agree that good can come from the North. Ope o! smiley

There are so many Roads named Ahmadu Bello Way so there is no need. At the zero rate at which infrastructure is been built we'll never get to Yar Adua Way, "talk less" of naming everything after all the dead heroes.

HealthRe: Nigerians And Dirty Habits: Can We Ever Change? by nuggard(m): 2:27am On Sep 07, 2008
suggestion.

Zonal forced and supervised sanitations should be done.
For instance,The agencies or ministries of works, environment, housing together with the police would on alternate weeks cordon off certain streets and supervise people cleaning their compounds and gutters. If you prevent them from doing their usual saturday trade for 3 weeks they would make it a habit to clean their immediate environments afterwards.

Obviously bigger projects like providing waste bins and disposal are in the hands of the government.

Peeps who are like blah blah everyone else is doing it, the truth is that it is a reflection of the quality of life you that you desire.

Foreign AffairsRe: About Growing Afro-chinese Economic Relations by nuggard(m): 8:08pm On Sep 05, 2008
good discussion guys.

Aren't you bothered though, that African products- manufactured goods, don't command the same brand power that European, Asian and American goods have.

Probably, it is better for African countries to improve trade amongst themselves and have some sort of harmonized quality control. otherwise we may end up selling our resources forever and producing nothing of note.
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama Indirectly Sending Message To Nigerians. by nuggard(m): 1:01am On Sep 05, 2008
Big B1:
My man, slow down and let us think a little bit more broadly.
Just because you happen to be an original Nigerian man doesn't mean everyone on nairaland forum (supporting Obama) is also original Nigerian or Africano.
If you don't know, there are different type of folks here: we have zebra, we have others with 2 to 3 passports and we also have few that have never been to any country in Africa before; so let us slow it down.

Some of these folks may be supporting Obama because they have 2 or 3 things in common with this man and others may also be supporting him just for the sake of the liberation of blackmen in general.

My man, there is a reason why this topic resides at the foreign affairs section, I'm sorry, it isn't always about you or me or Nigeria. No disrespect, but from time to time, it is always a good idea to think a little more deeper.

Allow folks to support who-ever they desire; it is their rights and prerogative.
I don't take too kindly to being accused of being simple, especially if you cannot pinpoint what the problem is.

I simply am saying the easiest explanation (and you even fall into the trap of reiterating it), for black people supporting Barack is mostly because of the colour of his skin.

The thread carries "Nigerians" in it, so semantically speaking we should concentrate on Nigerians. So please my man, don't limit the robustness of this thread and disguise it with pseudo-afrocentrism. Also with due respect.

It would be disingenuous of me to say i've completely broken myself from the myopism of my parents generation but I am glad I have made a conscious decision that except I and many other people are wlling to open our minds, my children and yours tongue will inherit a very divisive country always on the brink of chaos.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Signs Nuclear Agreement With Iran by nuggard(m): 12:05am On Sep 05, 2008
Hate to say I told you so because I didn't huh

It's been in the works for some time now (I mischievously put an article on this some time back on wikipedia / Kano State).

Don't read too much into it because the Iranians are just going to send a container full of blue prints and theses from the University of Tehran and poor old baba lecturer in the physics department of University of Ilorin would have more material for his handout. And that will be the end of that.

We do have Uranium deposists in parts of Adamawa/Gombe and we can borrow the technology from the South Africans. They've been operating Nuclear powered stations for approx 20+ years.

@ sinmbo
South Africa is not facing any sanctions from the UN. They later signed the non-proliferation agreement, and gave up their nuclear arsenal.

An alternate source of energy though is Geothermal. I'd say the cost is cheaper, minimal pollution and easy to manage even for Nigeria.
