Uche2nna:If I did not know you are demented, I would have been insulting you. But thank God I understand. Manchester United playing kick and follow game. Your Tv or most likely radio must be tuned to radio Kudirat. @The Lady who wants to follow a soccer team you only have to make a short list of say five teams in a particular league(since you want to join most of the debates it should be in the premiership-most guys here support any of Manchester United, Arsenal , Liverpool, Chelsea.) check wikipedia for the team's history, the club's website for their organisation, messageboards for the acumen of the supporters but most importantly watch the matches. And if you want to be patriotic like Mr Solo aka Christiano you can choose teams like Newcastle,Portsmouth,Reading,Watford, Everton and Middlesborough that have Nigerian players. by the way since I know you are interested I am a Manchester United fan. @Fagmodu amodu:F*ckoff ![]() |
Jk why should you be bothered about what Mourinho says. Its the attitude that some chelsea fans have that irritates me ( I am not including/excluding those on Nairaland). I've met a few of them who worship the gay. I loath Mourinho because all he does is run his mouth, switch off his brain and assume a posture or pout that is sure to be in the press. He is a fxkin dramatist persona. Unfortunately the gullibe fans laugh and commend everything he does on the touch line (like those Ji Jitsu dances). Not taking anything from him, he won the Portuguese league even before he signed Ballack et al, but for F*ck sake why doesn't he concentrate on being a manager then a nollywood actor and Leave the Monday headlines to Blair. |

welcome Henrik.however be wary of Jackal otherwise you might be something like" scottish. . . ."Today is a boring day in the world of soccer, ja? |
@Christino I guess whoever refers to me. I did not say it before but indeed your views are myopic and contradictory.1 day ago you say that SAF's management is poor and next we hear our away form is excellent. Now why should you have a contradiction as part of your argument? You views are myopic because you believe that winning arsenal and Chelsea would secure the premiership in November( Short sighted, synonym for myopia ) when there is still 24 games to play.We lost to Arsenal and drew with Chelsea, so what? The fact is we are ahead of them, There are no excuses for any of those results, afterall, football sometimes is like throwing dice. The difference is that we haven't had a bad game in terms of input for a while and we keep improving. Chelsea on the other hand appear to be stagnant, and Arsenal are throwing points away- and these are our Rivals! maybe its a killjoy attitude we all suffer from, still I hope you don't get offended, because I have tried to argue with passion, sentiment and hopefully without malice. PS: its parochial |
Jk,my thots on Saha. To be honest I am no longer bothered about Saha. all I wanted was for him to show he is a fighter and I am glad he scored after the celtic fiasco. If you were in his shoes and you scored an own goal wouldn't you work hard to vindicate your presence.Honestly I think he is a slow developer or just lacks confindence. If he had scored half of the clear chances he has missed he surely would have above 15 goals by now. Beautiful goal, you should see the goals he scores in fifa 2004!Like 30 goals per season. ![]() ( yeah I know fifa 04 is like 2 years before you were born, it still keeps me happy though) @superstar, hopefully u did not vote Ronaldo as the man of the match. His dribbling was awesome and even comic when at one time there were 4 chelski players on him.by the way,my man of the match was Carrick especially for his yellow card. keep em coming. |
Christino:how am I going to say what I have to without insulting you. 1 point from 2 home games is failure, innit. for most parts of the game it looked like we had won the game but shyt happens! and all that talk of how chelsea have not been consistent really bores me. As for me I am glad that a) we are above chelsea b) we frustrated them, isn' it interesting to see how chelsea players become antagonistic when they are down. c) Ashely gay is not worthy of kissing Ronnies nether end. d) we played excellently and outplayed chelsea. what pisses me off is that chelski seem to get a point when they don't deserve it-that's why I am not religious,God afterall is not a Red Devil. |
nuggard:why did anyone not ask what can is, are you that literate? It should be Nations Cup. was really hustling to make the 1000th post, and I went to bed last night when it was at 99. . somfn to my consternation the next day twas at 996 , so i filled in the spaces ![]() |
This may be a bit un-traditional but I fancy Fergie plays 4-5-1 against chelsea. Put another way, If I were in SAF's size 18 shoes I would use this formation. Line Up. Van Der sar Nevill Ferdinand Vidic Heinze Brown Christiano Carrick Scholes Giggs. Rooney/ Saha subs. The usual except 4 silvestre. bbc's analyst suggests that SAF would play 4-4-2, I disagree for the reason he(analyst) mentioned,we would be playing 2 against 4 in mid-field which may be catastrophic. By playing a diamond in the middle, chelski can get the ball forward quickly especially with the boring long balls. launching the ball just between the defence and the Midfield would be a problem 4 United as chelsea has players like ballack, essien and lampard capable of testing the dutch giant with shots from afar. playing 4-5-1 may sound initially counter productive, but I feel it still gives the edge of playing with width, as well as having 3 MF' s playing centrally against chelsea's attacking 3. Rather than the 3 mf's playing flat(whatever its called), Wes Brown, Carrick and Scholes would form a shallow-concave line reducing the space for ballack to play while keeping Essien and Lampard in check ie in front of the midfield or defence. I would pick Heinze ahead of the other LB's because he doesn't gallop forward as much as Evra, He is strong and is not as confused as silvestre. Also his more defensive approach gives Giggs the freedom to move centrally (as against celtic) especially with most of the crosses coming from Gary Neville and Ronaldo on the right. should Heinze be out of position, Vida can cover for him while brown takes a more defensive approach. Wes brown comes ahead of O'shea cuz He is faster, has better shots and is better arially. Carrick and Scholes would supply the clinical through balls for the forward-and this is where my problems lie. By playing either of Saha or Rooney, the bench looks richer and gives the room for making attacking options which have been lacking for a while. The dilemma is which of the duo should start. Saha has shown great awareness and his movement is awesome, however his fininshing is lethargic. Rooney on the other hand can barrel his way through an Ice frozen mountain, however his height doesn't favour him as much as saha is blessed. While I am not sure his speed matches that of Louis, he can outrun and out foul most defenders. I will refrain from making a prediction.but hope we all enjoy the game. |
Nuggard makes the 1000th post on strictly United. . . I have joined the legends. |
And Now |
Okocha scored the 1000th goal of the can |

just saw a few of Adu's clips on You tube and I feel like shooting myself. Thank God I wasnt anti-adu, but I thought to myself " U fukin cow snot why are you not leading the campaign to sign him." so folks, adu for Nigeria President 2007 |
not surprisingly chelsea have conceded 4 goals away from stamford bridge as against uniteds 3 from home. The 3 points gap may be accounted for, not only by the class of united but also by our ability to score away from home. United has 16 away goals against chelsea's 9. Chelsea may be our equals in terms of defence, the difference is our superior forward line as well as our mid-field.( yeah) |
kitaun:Fa fa foooo00WL. Oh essiens last minute rocket was meant to destroy bremen, Mikel obi's bonnet header was supposed to give him a first goal and you think Herr Ballack was parlying with his compatriots. common man! is carvalho out of sunday's game? |

Good riddance. who is next. . . . |
kitaun:@ Kitaun. . . you are one of the soccer elites and I am just too happy to give you a lecture, -thats right. Uefa wont pair teams from the same group or country in the second round, but from the quarter finals on, the draws are free.thats why arsenal , celtic, liverpool and celkit are not on the list. *wipes board* . @marlet01 I never gamble and I have stopped making poses, I rather look at what strategys teams may employ and what factors may or may not affect the game in hand. sadly I am not good as a technical advisor/advicer otherwise I would ejaculate strategy over your face.chelsea first, benfica sometime. |

ABUJA — THE leadership of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to replace Vice President Atiku Abubakar as he prepares to formally declare on Saturday to run in the 2007 presidential race. The PDP, according to indications in Abuja yesterday, plans to launch an intensive lobby to get the National Assembly approve a replacement for the VP who is on suspension from the party and is ineligible to pick its nomination form which collection closes in another one week. Vice President Atiku is still challenging his suspension in court, and his aides say he remains a member of the PDP. Vanguard gathered that PDP leaders caucus at a meeting in Abuja on Monday to review the recent development in the Presidency resolved that once the VP publicly declares for the presidential race on Saturday, he would no longer be tolerated by the PDP-led Federal Government. It was learnt that the meeting which had in attendance leaders of the National Assembly, reviewed the implication of the Vice President declaring to contest on the platform of another party while still remaining within the PDP-led government as Vice President. Source said President Olusegun Obasanjo nominate a replacement to the National Assembly should the Vice President declare to run on the ticket of another party. Obasanjo on 2007 Meanwhile, President Obasanjo warned, yesterday, that it would be a calamity for Nigeria if the PDP lost the 2007 elections. The President, addressing the 35th National Executive Committee meeting of the PDP, which was called to review the recent congresses/primaries conducted by the party said although all indications pointed to success for the party in 2007, members should be vigilant.-how arrogant, democracy is about the peoples manifesto not the PDP's agenda. He said: "I have come here to congratulate all PDP members. We don’t appreciate the blessing of God. It is when we count our blessings that we will see what God has done for us. Here we have a party waxing stronger. All those who started with us where are they except one with his caricature? Yes we know you dont appreciate the blessings of God especially because you think you are a god, as to those who started with you, we have buried them and done 3 days of mourning for them. where the Bleep did you expect. "Whatever the adversary might say, it is a grudging acceptance of dominance of the PDP in the political horizon. The post mortem about the congress and primaries we are doing is necessary. We are doing what we are supposed to do. Other parties are sleeping. of course baba, especially since democracy is dead, the post mortem report/result will probalbly end up in your boxers, oops my bad baba, I forgot your boxers are made off khaki, a soldier neva dies. "Here we are opening our doors. Here we are re-examining our activities and here we are re-positioning our party and they are there sleeping. what are they expected to do,if they campaign you say they are instigating violence and those of them who dont eat from the national cake are too tired to complain. "At the end of the day, if we succeed they will be complaining. Anyway, the court is there and I hope it would not take three years this time to adjudicate. I think the new electoral act has taken care of that." no sir,in Nigeria we have pre-trial judgment where we check if you can survive prison before we do judgment-judgment. I am surprised you did not know this, after having a vaccation there yourself you only make reforms a year to the end of your 8 year reign of terror-haba retarded general, this guys suffered the same thing you did.ok maybe not atleast you got eggs from ota farm. The President commended the manner in which the congresses of party have been managed so far, adding that in spite of the complaints in three of the 36 states of the Federation, the congresses were successful. the few lives that were lost dont change the census figures seeing you contributed alot to the present population. baba carry rubber oh "Our adversaries are expecting that our fall-out will fall into their pockets. They are joking. We will manage our fall-out very well that nothing will happen. We are a tested and trusted party. We are a party with track record and as we move on with this exercise (the primaries), if there is anything to complain about, please let us be civil. baba is your opening statement that funny oh yes I see the humour, your track record really is hilarious."The leaders should be fair to all because this is how the process will go on. We must watch out in our celebrations. Enemies within will want to cause disaffection among us. They will say Ali (Party Chairman) is fighting Anenih. There is nothing like that. I'm glad you noticed, the only thing on network news since 1999 have been your celebrations, and your gigs. boogey boogey baba, uhh, baba you are a bit rusty. "In human interaction, there must be friction and the solution to that is communication. Anybody that wants to leave the party should leave now because some of them are paid agents, who will not succeed. Some will say they are with us but they are not with us. They are paid to cause confusion. They will not succeed. no its lubrication-"ghana must go lubri."TM "The failure of PDP will cause calamity for Nigerians and it is even unthinkable because when you look at the other political parties, what do they have to offer? I hear them that they will continue with what we are doing, that means they have nothing to offer. In 2007, there will be a change of personality but there will be no change of PDP," he said. exactly, if they continue with your policies they will have nothing to offer. hope the new personality is a bit more handsome cuz you are not exactly Denzel, tho your pa's say you are. PDP okays ward congresses Announcing the resolutions of the NEC meeting, the National Secretary of the party, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, said the meeting approved that the ward congress be repeated in Delta, Cross River, Benue and Akwa Ibom. The NEC also approved the postponement of the return of the forms for Senatorial aspirants to November 27, 2006 as well as the reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of the party to replace those who have joined other parties or died. The NEC also set December 3, 2006 as date for the fund raising dinner for the party. Yesterday’s NEC meeting was well attended by virtually all the members of the Committee although former Chairman of the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), Chief Don Etiebet stayed away on the ground that his name was not on the list of those invited for the meeting. My Saturday declaration on course, says Atiku Meanwhile, Vice-President Atiku yesterday said his proposed formal declaration on Saturday this week to contest the 2007 elections was still on course. Receiving a delegation of the Yoruba community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led by Chief Bolawa Taiwo, the VP asked the group to continue to support democracy and its ideals, adding that nothing makes a country and its people prosper like democracy built on justice and fair-play. Leader of the delegation, Chief Taiwo, informed the VP that they were at the State House to express their support and to commend him for his various contributions to the growth of democracy in the country. The group presented a birthday card to Vice-President Atiku on his 60th birthday anniversary which comes up on Saturday. Obasanjo on leadership Also yesterday, President Obasanjo spoke of his determination to ensure the emergence of an effective leadership in next year’s elections. In his Presidential address to Course 15 participants of the National War College in Abuja, he said: "We must face up to the peculiar challenges which our democratic experience presents. The forthcoming general elections present us with an opportunity to ensure the enthronement of a leadership that is focussed, serious minded, people oriented and God fearing. All hands must, therefore, be on the deck to make sure that we have a free, fair, transparent, and credible elections." Thank you for saying what you have never been. I'll add that to my CV Represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Agwai, the President whose address focussed on Government Economic Reforms as a Factor of Grand Strategy, said: "Our economic and institutional reforms have to be sustained and consolidated, if our national growth, and by direct implication, our national security has to be assured. "Institutions like the National War College have a critical role to play in this regard through constant interrogation of the issues that define our economy in relation to global trends. "That is the only way we can entrench the ideals of democratic good governance and ensure the survival and sustenance of our democratic process. Bad leadership breeds corruption, alienates the populace, discourages enterprise and contaminates the soul of the nation. A proper grounding of our political structures and institutions is critical to sustained economic growth and harnessing the element of economic power," he said. For a Civil engineer turned dictator you aren't doing too badly-putting in all the groundings, entrenchings etc. surprise surprise how many buildings are going to collapse. |
we are just too passive during high stake games, on reflection we should have played at full strength against FC copenhagen, should we not qualify, Fergie would have indicted himself as he's said he gambled on the game. |
