I agree.

Dimple10:
best to send your passport elsewhere right now until this issue is resolved, it doesn't seem like a good idea to send documents there.

Hi Lizz22, I am yet to find a solution o. They are actually pretty fast. They got my passport on Sunday and by Thursday, it was ready. The only problem now is how to pick it up. I have called them and written emails, I was told to wait for a resolution.

I am trying to find out if other courier services are experiencing the same thing. If they are not, I might have to use another courier service.
lizz22:

Pls have you found any resolution on this? Cos I would like to send mine to Cairo for stamping too. As they seemed to be faster than the rest.

Has anyone sent to Egypt vfs recently? I sent my package 2 weeks ago and it was received last week Sunday. Counterfoil generated and passport resent to the VAC within 3 days. But what I’m hearing now is that DHL is unable to pick items from vfs Cairo because they require a customs obligation form that vfs is refusing to provide. Is anyone having the same problem?

Does anyone know the current timeline for Egypt VAC?

Hi everyone, for those that sent their documents to Egypt from Nigeria, how did you pay for 2-way courier. DHL is saying that I can only pay for 1 way at the point of sending the package.

Hi Lotusgoddess,

Congratulations! Have you gotten your passport back? How long did it take between when you sent your passport and when you got back? Also, can you please help with the steps for sending to Kenya? Sorry for the loads of questions.

Thanks.

Lotusgoddess:

Counterfoil generated 10th May. Less than a week from when it got to CVAC Nairobi, Kenya.

God be praised!

Hi Barby008, what's the process for Abuja VFS? Do I need to book an appointment? Also, do we need to make any further payments to have our passports sent?

barby008:
Tbh, Accra direct and Abuja/lagos VFS takes almost the same timeline nowadays. If you aren't in a hurry, just use Lagos and give them 2 months max..use that time to tidy up things

Abuja VFS took 5 weeks for me, received passport on Thursday

Hi Mijavid,

Please what's the process for sending to Germany. I am currently torn between sending to Accra or somewhere else.

Thanks,

Story of my PPR

My story began in 2016 during youth service, I wondered what was next and although I had a couple of promising options based on my skillset I wasn’t sure which way to go, if I was going to achieve my set out goals then I must overcome two categories of challenges, myself and my country.

You see, I chose to study physics because I needed that training to get myself into a career path I was very interested in, school disappointed me because of course, I didn’t get what I bargained for, I went into school thinking I was going to graduate as a bada** physicist with all the competence that I need to get sh** done but it was all theory, and boy the gap between theory and getting actual problems solved is no small leap, add erratic power supply and not so good outlook due to bad governance and so on, I decided to study in a developed country, long story short that didn’t work out, in one humiliating response while seeking funding for graduate studies a professor told me that my school wasn’t well ranked plus my grades (2:1) weren’t good enough.

It’s kuku not their fault, na me no get money to fund myself, so I switched to plan B (Express Entry). CRS cutoff was in the 430s - 440s range back then, so the plan was simple, work 3 years for POF and maximum work experience point, write IELTS and get ITA. But like many things in life, it didn’t turn out as planned. I completed youth service in 2017 and started work a few months after. Fast-forward 2 years and before I knew it cutoff was through the roof, complete POF was nowhere in sight based on salary (so I started forex and lost all the money I put in a few months after, I don suffer!), then I needed extra certificate and good IELTS result to improve CRS score but those wouldn’t come easy as well.

After all the IELTS success and failure stories I have read I still messed up, I didn’t bother to practice the writing section until I paid dearly for it after my first writing result came back as 6.5, result came out on 1st of July 2019, 75k up in flames and it was so painful, then I understood why my dad would beat the sh** out of me whenever I came back home with terrible results back in my unserious days in secondary school (story for another day). I wrote another IELTS 19 days after and the result was good enough although I didn’t max out, ECA was on ground already so I jumped right into the pool.

The struggle for extra certificate is another story, I enrolled in Open University for PgD in IT thinking it was going to be an easy one being a software developer, first semester result came out that same July I failed IELTS, and I had 2 As, 2 Bs, 1 C and 2 Fs, carry-over that I didn’t have throughout my first degree days, why me?! I already learnt about BCS as at then so I jejely advised myself to drop-out because the stress was killing me already, it took more time and effort than I expected plus the university’s process wasn’t the best it could be. I wrote the BCS exam in September and once again I failed 1 out of 3 courses, wahala be like bicycle o, back to back failure like I’ve never seen before all in one year. 2019 was a battle but the war continued. I rewrote the extra paper in March of 2020 before lockdown began and result came out fine in August but 5 points was already lost due to age.

With extra certificate evaluated I was sitting at 460 thereabout but this was during pandemic and my new score was no longer competitive. Frustration was beginning to set in and I had almost given up, the next hand I could play was to learn French, but God had other plans. After some gingering by my fiancé I started learning French and less than 2 months into it, December 15 2020 I got OINP notification of interest and that was how I closed chapter on learning French, the joy in my heart knew no bounds because I’ve been hoping for it, and even though it would cost me part of my POF I didn’t mind.

4 months and some ADRs after, nomination came in and CRS jumped by additional 600 points, ITA soon followed and at last, another major milestone and it felt so good. Post ITA began and this was the part where I got married to the LOML. But as you may imagine (or maybe not), there was yet another hurdle, getting passport! No paper and it was during that time NIS closed portal to cater for backlog while working on a new one for the new enhanced e-passport I think. We had to wait some time before applying and some more time before she could have her biometrics taken, all of these while deadline for ITA submission was counting, my saving grace was that submission deadline had been extended to 90 days during pandemic but that was barely enough time . Remember IELTS? That was about to expire in July, same month ITA will expire. And guess what, passport issuance was nowhere in sight.

4 days before IELTS expiration and about 1 week or so before ITA will expire, I submitted our application with her passport collection slip showing that showed that passport was already due for collection, then I added a LOE explaining what was going on with NIS backlog and the new enhanced e-passport portal wahala. 1 month post AOR, passport was issued and I quickly raised a webform for submission.
Disclaimer: I would not advise anyone to do this, for me it was a calculated risk that I didn’t lose sleep over. This was during the pandemic, IRCC wasn’t processing applications so well and was focusing more on CEC applications at the time so I figured the officer in-charge would relate with my plight.

At this point the process became boring and the long wait began, I closed the two EE tabs that lived rent free and always open on my phone browser until we got BIL in November, this thread and another one for July AOR on canadavisa dot com.

When PPR landed in April I had 8 months validity on my passport so I had to make a call, send to Accra and risk having it unstamped until there’s less than six months, then I’ll have to go through the stress of renewal which wouldn’t be so pleasant; or spend money sending it elsewhere to minimise that risk. It wasn’t cheap but it paid off, we got out passports stamped and returned in 10 days of sending to Berlin.

The path to success is not always a straight line so expect that life will throw you a curve ball once in a while. One lesson that I sometimes learn the hard way is that things just don’t always workout for me until it’s God’s time, the pandemic opened up more opportunities for me that I could have imagined, even if I had learnt and passed French back than I would be counting down to July for FSW to resume right now. At the end it could have only been God and I’m thankful it ended in praise.

Thank you all for keeping the thread going, to everyone at various stages of this journey, I wish you all the best.

Gracias.

Hi Haircombb, how were you able to pay for the gcms notes. I have tried using my naira card and my dollar card but I am unable to make the payments.

Haircombb:
I got adr for remed, proof of employment and renewed passport on Feb 3rd, deadline for submission was 3rd of March. I was able to do my remed and submit my proof of employment but I had delay renewing my passport.

I attached a LOE stating why I will not be able to meet the deadline for passport submission and attached my data capture appointment as evidence. I received no response concerning an extension.

I got my renewed passport on 15th of March and uploaded it immediately via webform. I haven't gotten a response from the webform till date. I also sent several webforms after that, no response.

I tried calling Ircc several times too, but was not able to get through. I ordered for gcms notes too and it's past 30 days, I have not gotten any response.

How else do I get in contact with IRCC to know what is happening with my application?
