Specs

Honda pilot has got a few tricks,Apple car play and Android Auto out of the box, A real SUV with the strength to take more road beating than the highlander. Though interms of reliability highlander tops by a few margin.

Fuel economy highlander is better in city, while the pilot tops in highway.

Third row seat
The pilot has better seating arrangement, more leg room than the highlander and bigger cargo space.

V6 engine
I would prefer the highlander timing chained engines to the pilot timing belt engine. That's just my personal preference because I won't have to worry about fake belt or maintenance of changing belt especially since it is an interference engine.

Consider equivalent trim levels

The EX and EX-L trims of the pilot have more but the highlander limited and XLE comes very close.

To the itel S26U I am currently using. when buying Itel go for higher ram like 8gig to enjoy lag free experience. Other things they have a low quality unlike other users.

I bought the Itel S26U only because my work is heavy duty and I won't go and buy Samsung 700k to break the screen and be looking for 500k to replace it. The S26U doesn't lag at all and the 6000mah battery last me around 2 days.

Talking about the CRV. Would you recommend I buy the CRV over the Matrix? I am being discouraged from buying the CRV because CVT gear issues. Some even say the CRV is costlier to maintain than the Matrix.

The CRV in your picture is a 2007 to 2011 model which has automatic transmission not CVT

When you guage fueling and some replacement parts like bigger tires, more engine oil volume, axle fluid, the CRV may demand more expenses than matrix. But I have used Honda and Toyota in several categories, my Honda is always cheaper in part replacement and it last too compared to Toyota.

I have transversed naija roads often and I always recommend CUV over sedans because of
1. Flood the ground clearance means CUV should wade better than sedans especially if you dey Lagos and some parts of Ogun

2. Bad roads due to the height advantage of CRV over matrix, you won't have issues of pothole cracking your sump or your exhaust scraping the ground. You may even need to do some light off-road which favours CUV over sedan.

3. Leg room and cargo space for a family man, holidays traveling, long distance journey where you need comfortability for driver and passengers, the CRV has that room for you. You can also recline both vehicles back seat, the CRV still has more space to fit a chest freezer or standard 2 door upright fridge than the matrix.

4. For fuel economy and average good road, the matrix should be better, you will be saving 20 to 30% on fuel for same distance with CRV or Rav4.

I. Don't know why people are so adamant about rubbishing hard work of others, it was this same nairaland I told people that since my existence in life I have not rent a house in my life.

If I am offered 200k salary can't I still be living with my parents which removes paying house rent from the salary. My family or my neighbor drops me off at work even if they cannot pick me after work doesn't that reduces my transportation expenses.

At my age I still carry food to work, I eat snacks in the morning and eat the food mid day meaning my morning and afternoon is sorted out. When you see the condition of the salary you try to adjust your expenses, the extra saved at those times can be used to startup a side hustle which adds extra to your salary.

Trying to adjust your expenses to fit your salary isn't poverty but a lifeline, know what you are doing, build yourself for better opportunities and growth.

Some of you don't know the reality of Nigeria now, those who couldn't collect 30k salary with me in 2019 more than 90% of them haven't achieved half of what I have today.

You didn't specify the year, but let me give you a few breakdowns.

If you are getting the matrix avoid the 4wd variant, the 4wd is extra maintenance and it is expensive to replace the axle. It is the most fuel efficient of your choice with the 1.8L engine.

The Rav4 has 4 engines, 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L and the V6

From what I know the 2.0L is very rare, what you will mostly see is the other engines.

2.4L has oil burn issues if buying naija used be careful, the transmission is 10pin solid. The 2.5L is a very good engine but has 13pin which is expensive if buying naija used, ensure they never changed the 13pin to 10pin due to cost and durability, causes drivability issues.
The V6 is okay if you don't mind the fuel consumption. Overall has more leg room, cargo space and ground clearance than a matrix so it is a better vehicle in all ramification on Nigerian roads.

The CRV is a bullet proof vehicle. Cheaper parts than Toyota, solid earth dreams engine, confirm transmission and suspension is solid too. Don't be fooled by the slant boot design, that thing swallows cargo.

If I am torn between the Rav4 and CRV, I would gladly pick the CRV because the EX or the top of the line EX-L has more specs and cheaper to buy and maintain than a Toyota

If you know the job doesn't fit you, don't bad mouth it, leave let someone who appreciates it grab it, those of us earning 1million naira per month started from somewhere.

Please 🙏 I just got a naija use 2016 honda accord v4, unknowingly, I ignorantly turned the steering to set the Tyre without starting the car.....gbam the wheel locked, ignition did not work again, we have tried everything to start the car to no avail, we have shaken and turned the steering while starting the car for days with no result.

In fact the key has breaken from the keyholder/remote while on this process, though we can still manage to use the broken key.

I was advised to sought after people that are knowledgeable about Honda Accord not to turned minor issue to bigger issues

Kindly assist with a way out.

You have not said what the issue is.

1.Is the steering now unlocked?

2. Is light showing on the dash board at all when key is turned? Is their a flashing green key?

3. If key is turning but no response from engine, then it could be something else.

4. For replacement key, nah panel betaer\locksmith would fix that and then program it to your ECU

They have internal water pump which when about to fail gives no heads-up. Also the failure causes catastrophic engine failure best is try and look elsewhere if nah naija used, if nah Tokunbo ensure to change the part as soon as possible I believe replacement is set at 100k km by manufacturer

Hi this is what I envisaged when I left Lagos.

In 2019 B4 I left, Sura to Ikeja was 200 naira I used to frequent computer village, then 2021 to 2022 it was around 500, now 2026 should be 1k or over that.

Cost of living in Lagos is expensive especially at odd hours tfare cost can jump to X2.

I am afraid not for myself but my family members in Lagos and the young generations. Where all we make is for maintenance not even for living at all.

It is a home but I don't pay rent. Free Accommodation is part of the benefit of working there.
