Honestly a law need to passed such that any body that went on strike for more than 4 months should forfeit their salaries post 4 month. Because the way I'm seeing it, this is nothing but holding the FG to ransom. You'd still be gingered to continue strike knowing fully well you'd still receive salaries.

FG postponed the meeting and you are still blaming ASUU. Is this how you reason?

Shame APC which the East derides without reservation is showing more tolerance for the ambitions and yearnings of Easterners than the pdp they love so much.

Pdp cant pretend to be oblivious to Eastern agitations, but the best they can come up with is to say Jonathan is free to seek their party ticket. No single reference to Easterners or a statement addressing their demands.

Even if na to pretend, make pdp try to pretend to be positively disposed to an Igbo presidency. This shabby treatment of the east by pdp is appalling.

I support the defection of Umahi and we need more easterners there so as to balance in both parties.

Yoruba can be president if APC decides. It's not good for a major tribe to cluster in just one party. We ve been saying it since 2015 but our people failed to understand.

With the way things are going, Wike may face disgrace if he follows any candidate to come and campaign in the South east states..

This will be bad market for the candidate he will accompany to the campaign.

What annoys the Igbo in this WIke is that it was because Amaechi was fighting him and Jonathan in 2015 that they hated Amaechi and massiively voted for him.

I Live and work in Rivers State, though I am from Delta State. After reading this ,I know most bigots will come for my head .A lot of tribal war rages in Nairaland over comments and posts, which are majorly based on imaginations and mode of understanding. Why I am saying this, is because some people will definitely read a different meaning to this topic.
There is this notion I want the rest of Nigerians to be aware of, before dabbling into matters. Virtually every South southerner and south easterner have these mutual relationship, either by marriage ,friendship ,business partnership and even by neighborhood .Space will not permit me to write a long epistle .
As a resident of River State ,I observed this silent resentment towards Nyesom Wike for his action against Ibos in Obigbo and the recent ones .I assume it silent, because it's as if everyone is waiting for him somewhere imaginary.
Take a look into the demographic distribution of the population in River State, especially the Ikwerre's, you will find out that, for every family, there is at least one Ibo man or woman attached to the family, which happened by marriage and by extension the proximity of the state to the mainland Igbo states of Abia, Imo,and even Anambra. Almost every Ikwerre man have one or more Ibo friend or Neighbor ,whom he/she has a very strong affinity towards. In so making, anything that affects the Ibo man indirectly affects him/her. I can boldly tell you that, Nnamdi Kanu has a huge followership in River State than even Imo state, not just followers residing in Rivers, but indigenes.
There are a lot of River state stake holders, that are married to women from core Ibo states, which invariably qualifies them as Ibo men. These people, by implication have been insulted severally by Nyesome Wike, through his actions and utterances towards the Ibos. The wives of the two former governors of the state are Ibos, most of the militants on whose influence Wike attacks the Federal government have Ibo wives, some Ikwerre Kings and Chiefs have Ibo wives, many Ikwerre landlords and big players in the state politics have Ibo wives. Can you now decode where the resentment is arising from? If these group of people that I just mentioned have Ibo wives and Ibo children, it therefore means this adege in my place comes to mind "GBU NWAM BU ÉMA" which interprets as, KILL MY CHILD IS PRETENCE OR JOKE.
To further buttress my findings, at the moment, virtually everybody that once loved and cherished Wike are regretting ever supporting him. The regret is not based on performance ,but his perceived support for the killing of people whom they have affinity towards. Can you now get where I am driving at? Even some Ikwerres are harboring this same resentment based on my earlier submission of marriages and age long relationships.
It is widely accepted that Ibo women are very beautiful ,which gave them the opportunity of being married to the rich and highly placed individuals, both politically and otherwise.
Ponder on this, If you where in the shoes of people like, Dr,Peter Odili, Rotimi Amechi, Godswill Akpabio, Liyel Imoke, Akeredolu of Ondo State, Atiku Abubakar and even some Wike's foot soldiers, who have Ibo wives. What will be your thought as it affects Wike politically, will you support Wike at national level? This is why I postulated earlier, it's as if everyone is silently waiting for him somewhere.
Nyesom Wike aggravated the whole own goal by giving the Northern Elders Forum, the platform to spill whatever they spilled.

What baffled me is, how come the relationship between Wike and Ipob got soared, because I can remember vividly that the leader of the proscribed group Ipob visited Obigbo and was planning to visit Lagos State. It was Wike that said they need him here in South south/south east, that he shouldn't risk his life going to Lagos, because he might be assassinated.
In my own observations, during the end sars protest, the Sultan of Sokoto might have called Wike to as a matter of urgency protect Northerners residing in River state, else he will loose any support from the North if the need should arise. With this, Wike swiftly started the eye service venture, which eventually comminuted in the lash back from every one that have soft spur for the Ibos, this was where he scored the own goal.

You are right. Wike messed up big time.

A lot of my friends and relations that used to support him all the time are no longer interested in him.

But for ipob, they are messing up too

Ango talks anyhow and Wike talks anyhow so i wont be surprised if Wike found him a good instrument that he can use to attack the Igbos hence he invited him in the name of Northern Elders forum to come and talk.

If Wike thinks that the northerners will attack Igbos with five states because of his tiny Ikwerre that is not up to one state, he is really deceiving himself.

And to demonstrate his ANGER against his critics, he has threatened to award more contracts for the construction three (3) additional Flyovers to bring the total number of new Flyovers to be constructed before the end of administration TEN!

On a lighter note, the Governor says those who are not happy with the on-going construction of Flyovers in Port Harcourt are free to "die".

Project is good but the problem here is that the oil producing communities in Rivers state are suffering while the Ikwerre land that is not producing oil like them is enjoying the oil money much more. Too bad.

This is what other ethnic groups in Rivers state are passing through in the hands of the Ikwerre people who have been in power for almost sixteen years now.

Education / Re: Why The Strike? We Have Kept Our Promises To ASUU – FG by Nwadiuto247: 2:12pm On Dec 09, 2020
YHYson:
The minister of labour and employment Dr. Chris Ngige yesterday revealed that the agreement they had with ASUU was for the union to call off the strike before 9th December 2020.

The indefinite strike embarked by ASUU has gone a little over nine months and still counting. With the current stance of the Federal Government and the union, one can say the calling off of the strike is not anywhere in sight.

ASUU has gone to the table several times with FG since the strike began to discuss their terms for calling off the strike but there haven’t been any positive change as the strike continues.

On the 27th of November FG and ASUU had agreed to end the strike as FG promised to remit the sum of N70 billion to the union for the revitalization funds and Earned Academic Allowances.

On Sunday 6th December in an interview with The Nation ASUU National President Prof Biodun Ogunyemi said that they were still consulting but certainly, before the end of this week, they would report to the minister of labor the findings and feedback from their members.

But there seem to be divisions among members of the union as some are calling for the end of the strike while others are asking the FG to pay the full N70 billion before they return to class.

In the interview, the union President also revealed that for a smooth process the FG should pay the salaries of its members as the agreement between them had timelines.

In response to the comments from the ASUU President the minister of labour Ngige said that FG had kept its promises to the union as things are being put in place for the payment of the money.

He made this revelation in a statement from his media office on Tuesday, titled, ‘We have kept our promises to ASUU – FG.’

“The truth of the matter is that a ‘gentleman agreement’ was reached at the last meeting in which ASUU agreed to call off the strike before December 9, 2020, and the minister, in turn, agreed that once the strike is called off, he would get a presidential waiver for ASUU to be paid the remainder of their salaries on or before December 9,”

He continued: “The N40b Earned Academic Allowances have also been processed just as the N30bn revitalization funds, bringing it to N70bn.
“Likewise, the visitation panels for the universities have been approved by the President but the panel cannot perform its responsibilities until the shut universities are re-opened.

“The gazetting is also being rounded off at the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation while the Ministry of Education is ready to inaugurate the various visitation panels.”

He revealed that: “they were paid for February and March, after which it was extended to April, May, and June, months they were on strike on compassionate ground, bringing it to five months.”

The statement added, “Asking the government to pay these four months before it goes back to work means ASUU is placing itself above the law of the land and no government will encourage it as it is a recipe for chaos in the labor milieu.”

In the meanwhile, the President of the nation President Mohammadu Buhari gave his comments on the strike as he labeled ASUU as being selfish saying that they are not considering the problems facing the whole country.

He said this through his media adviser: “Government conceded something. The problem is that they refused to look at the problem of the whole country. The Minister of Labour is working hard at it. It is amazing how ASUU will stay out of classrooms for so long. There’s a need for our elite to understand the challenges facing the country.”
