Serious feed scarcity hit abia state. People might be forced 2 sell off their laying birds as a matter of fact.
Pls I need layer feed formula asap before my birds starve 2 dead.

No. 2 might be a contribution, mine started laying @ about 20 weeks and they never had this problem. Another thing is the nesting box, try to cover half of it so that it would be somehow dark. That way they won't see anything to peck at. They pecking usually start when a bird just finish laying an egg.

Do you have a perch for them? If so describe it.

Tnx for d advice broda. I will try cover their laying nest a bit so as 2 make it a little darker..

I also bought mine from farm support but they don't have this problem. Your birds died due to "vent pecking". It is a form of cannibalism that can be caused by many things:
1. Is the light too bright?
2. Do they start laying before 20 wks of age?
3. Are they overcrowded?
4. How did u design the nesting box?
Etc.

I really can't say why birds of now adays are so agressive, have you tried debecking them , tho one of them died due to too much bleeding at least it saved a lot of others from dying.

They were debecked @ their eleventh wk.

I don't in anyway condone a man beating up a woman but I have seen a case where no matter how hard the man tried to walk away during a quarrel wit d wife, the woman refused to allow him getout from the room. It's still very much in my mind. Let me just give you guys a summary of the porofit:
1. Feed intake per day: 66.5kg
..
2. Cost per kg of feed = N2350/25kg = N94/kg
..
3. Feed cost per day = 66.5kg x 94=N6251/day.
..
4. Average no. Of crates per day is 14 crates.
..
5. Average price per crate is N600.
..
6. Gross Profit per day = N600x14 crates = N8400.
..
7. Net profit is N2149 per day.
..
N.B. Cost of routine lasota vaccination (N720 every 6 wks or less), antibiotic preventive dose, water, multivit etc not included. They're small though.

So sure 60k/mnth, not bad for a beginner. Hope u gonna double d number of birds in ur nxt stock.

agonbello: On an average scale, each 200layers should eat 1bag(25Kg) daily. So 350layers should eat 1.75bags(43Kg) daily. 50Kg daily isn't a problem to the birds, the only "supposed" problem is "increase in production cost".

Does over feeding of layers leads 2 drop in egg production? Say like giving 350 birds 2bags of feed(50kg) daily.
