johnydon22:Johnydon Baba, just cool down for yourself. Stop sounding over confident with this your presumption. I'm putting it to you that the day you meet with me one on one and have a rapport wit me, all these your atheistic worldview would be smashed to smitherines in the proccess of time. Suffice it to say that there are Christian and levels of Christians. That apart, i look foward to giving you a "holla" for some stuffs like that, alongside my brother KingEbukasBlog when the time is right and most importantly Gods willing. For Hardmirror all i will say to you now is to cool down for Jesus. Fact: you are going through a very rough patch in your relationship with God. Cause: God wasn't reponding to certain things you where expecting from him at the course of ministry, e.g the healing saga you mentioned, your view on his position and personal effort in saving the lost and maybe other reasons you are yet to mention. Problem1: you were trying to engage him with human logic to evaluate his own side of contribution and faithfulness to his word as far as salvation is concerned and to make matter worse you were unknowingly doing it with a spirit of pride. Absolving yourself whenever there is a shortcoming and passing the buck at God. Solution: you can never rationalize Gods way with human logic. Always remember his ways are not your way and his thought not your thought. Faith and Logic don't mix. Also even if even if in your weak moment you want to engage him logically, do it with a sense of humility, then he will answer you one way or the other at his own time. He is the boss, he runs the show and calls the shot. Problem 2: This unsavoury relationship has now led you to believe that all those manifestation of the Spirit you had durning days of ministration are something any one can do if they decide to trian and develop themselve in doing it. Fact: Not true and partially true. Not true - because what you experienced was the literal power of God based on his level of anionting upon you. Man cannot of his own natural abiltity do those things. Partially true - because man can tap into the spiritual realm thru the back door e.g, native doctors, psychics, the occults etc. But when you go through these back doors, you subject yourself to demonic manipulation. The guy you talked about that was communicating with the dead was only doing it thru demonic medium. You know it to be so but now the devil has blinded you into thinking the fellow did it because of natural abilities and even now you now think that the issue of witches are nothing but religious unsavoury fantasies. But i wii only ask you these, do you believe the occultic world is real, if not what do you have to say about Ogboni fraternity and the likes. You also talked about still speaking in tongue whenever you feel disturbed, well i can guarante you that if you do not return to the lord that gift will sooner or later die naturally or just dry up and if you try to force it the highest you will get will be a demonic possession of your spirit causing you to speak in esotoric language. I'm not trying to invoke fear into you but i'm feeding you spiritual realities you are probably not aware of. Moreso if you think those healing you experienced were not Gods making but as a result of your own natural gift and ability i humbly challenge you to go and try and heal the sick or seek healing for your personal self without looking up to God and see if you wii get any result. Final Bullet: I counsel you to try and retrace your step back to the Lord. His has worked through you once, he is still willing to do it again and maybe in a bigger way. Note, don't be deceived by these atheists here on NL showering you with kind and encouraging words, some of them may wound up being ministers of the gospel tomorrow. Especially johnydon22. Take good care. |

HardMirror:Good! I have read your story from the very first page up to this page 17, and i've been itching to quote you so as to expose many of the self contraditory claims that your story is riddled with. To begin with, can you kindly explain what you mean @ the bolded, that your colleagues with you at the outreach for the first time in their Christian experience were laying hands on the sick and casting out demons. So what sickness/ailment were the locals actually healed from. That now made your colleagues to be fully convinced of the supernatural, which absurdly and regrettable you are now discountenancing. Again i beg of you to kindly intimate us with the particular sickness or ailment that the locals were healed of. 'Cos this claims of the miraculious seems to have become a recurrent theme in this your epistle. And it beggars the question of how someone who claims that miracles are real and have had a personal on-hand experience of such to now turn around and claim he does not believe in God who happens to be a supernatural phenonena. So it is either your claims of your colleague laying hands on the sick and getting them healed is true and this automatically disproves your claim that God doesn't exist or that the spiritual/supernatural realm does not exist as these dumb Atheistard would have themselves believe. Lets create a hypothetical scenario to get my point clearer. So lets assume that one of the locals was healed of a tumor or paralysis, now, what natural rational can yu posit that made this healing possible since you are now claiming that God does not exist. Can this very healing phenomenum be attributed to a mere layiny on of hands by ur colleagues, acting under your instructions? If "Yes", what natural/scientific rational can you use to explain it and if "No" why are you now denying the God/supernatural factor. And at the other side of the coins it is either your cliams of your colleagues healing the sick is false. And embarrasingly, this makes yu an impostor as far as being a high flying Christian you are claiming to be is concerned. Actaully i know the level you are operating from spiritually but in your pride, yu now think you know it all, seen it all and the infallible Hardmirror knows better than God his creator, he once had a father n son relationship with but now nay G(g)od doesn't exist. Archetypal"BRANHAM" of our age. So much mono-spiritual gifting{word of knowledge] with little grounding on d word of God and understanding in the dynamics n fundamentals of faith. Young man stop allowing the devil to be using ur head and spirit to be playing Champions League football. A word is enough for the wise. I asked the other ASF members I was with to start praying for people laying hands on them. And the whole place exploded.Oga Atheist Biko, what do yu mean by receiving the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongue. Because the last i checked G(g)od doesn't exist and consequently any claim for spiritual/supernatural phenomenom is false and hoax. So pls, what natural/scientific rational do yu have to explain this "receiving of the Holy Ghost with evidece of speaking in tongue" your ASF members received, since G(g)od doesn't exist n there is nothing like spiritual/supernatural phenomenom, or else these claims of yours are false and like i said before, that simply makes you an impostor/charlatan. Ewu! It was spectacular. It was like being in the Shangrila of the Holy Spirit.Bla....bla...bla....bla...Holy Spirit doesn't exist, so all your Shangrila are hoax. Mbok! I will try n see if i can make out time and expose many of ur lies. |
musicwriter:Lies from the pit of hell. Oga go and give your life to Christ and stop deceiving yourself and your fellow irreligious folks, Atheistards and baby Christians here on NL. |

vooks:True. But his endorsing it with that statement, makes it practically impossible for any purveyor of prosperity to try and refute. They sure wont stand a dog chance if they do. Well, God hates divorce,That he hates divorce doesn't mean he disapproves of it. As they are horses of different color. If he did he will be the biggest confussionist of all time. And the Bible is clear that he is not the author of confussion. Hence, he made a provision for divorce and the scripture is clear on that. Now let me explain why he hates divorce. There are two strings attached to it. 1. Because of the treacherous lifestyle of the men of old testament, due to the law of divorce. The law made it possible for a man to easely relieve his wife of her marital contractual aggrement to him, by simply issuing her a letter of divorce once he feels he no longer want her for whatever reason. And this became a source of grieve for the affected wives and their heart pains and cry came before the LORD. Hence the injuction. 2. And for a very important spiritual consequence, he dislike it because he wants we humans and more importantly, those he has come into covenant with to raise a holy seed unto him. In other words he doesn't cherish a situation where a man marries a woman, and after she has given birth to a child or children, the man now sends her away for no unjust cause. And she repeatedly suffer similar fate in the hand of several men. He just doesn't like it when a woman goes around having baby for different men, it breeds a kind of unholy seed before the lord. Pls study Malachi 2:13-16, for futher insight. so one would think he would cushion his servants from the vagaries of divorce. But lo and behold, He does not!Chooooiiiii vooks!!!! Are you the one reasoning like this. These are what the Bible calls unlearned question. Choi! Passing the bucks of our own human inadaquencies at the table of the Father. My brother, he has done everything that need to be done in that regard. The death and ressurection of Christ has perfected all that for us. That is why he said in, Col 3:5 - Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleaness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is adultery. My bro, all he is saying is that you should deaden, kill and bring under subjection all these natural impulses that have been listed above. It is now your own responsibility to bring them about. Christ death and ressurection have made available for you the capability to be able to do it. It is now left for you to leverage on it. If it is about showing your spouse love, honouring her/him, the wife reverencing/respecting the man as her head, the man not lording it over her, the friuts of the Spirit, they are well documented in the scripture. The problem here is identity problem. Not being able to see yourself the way God has structured you and is seeing you. All you need do is to look into the perfect law of liberty(emancipation), and identify yourself as who God says you are. How do you do this? Locate yourself in the word, medidate upon it and align to it accordingly. The Bible says in, 2Cor 3:18 - But we all, with an open face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into that same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. My bro, in a nutshell, as you look into the scripture to see who God says you are, as you continue to see yourself in that light, gradually you begin to change, transform, and metamorphous into that same image you see in the mirror(the scripture). It is not a one day thing, not a micro wave experience. But surely, as you continue to look into that mirror(scripture), and continue to align yourself into who the Bibles say you are. Before long, you will be completely changed into that same image(person), that you see in the mirror. Glory be to God! My bro, on this issue all i'll have to say is that "thereby hangs a tale". Stay blessed. I will see if i will have time to address the remaining issue you raised. The same goes to bro Gombs question on why i said there is poverty in Christ. It is obvious he failed to catch my drift. Shallom. |
vooks:First, i think i'm beginning to have a problem with your choice of word "UTOPIA", whoever told you that Wof/PG message on prosperity n divine health is centered around a state of utopia. Which simply means a state of perfect wellbieng as far as the issue of prosperity and health is concerned for the Christian man. Then that simply means a Christian man/woman should never suffer lack? Then what happens to: Phil 4:11 - Not that i speak in respect of want: for i have learned, in whatsover state i am, therewith to be content. 12 - I know both how to be abased, and i know how to abound: every where and in all things i am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound both to suffer need. 13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me - KJV. Then if he/she is to live in a state of utopia as far as health issues are concerned, then what happens to the plethora of scriptures that resonates with God bringing healing n cure for our infirmities. I'm sure you do not want me to start mentioning those portion of scripture. The problem i see here with you is that you seem to have gotten hold of the prosperity and divine healing message at the wrong end of it. To set the record straigth for you, Wof/PG message is not about living in a state of utopia/perfectionism in our everyday struggles in life, but rather mustering strength by reaching out to God in faith through his word and using it to confront these challenges and triumphing in them. Know this, if you fail in any of these challenges, that simply means you do not have the faith capacity to surmuont that challenge. What do you do next? You go and build more on your faith. FAITH COMETH BY HEARING; HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD. My brother, if you have failed in that faith project, it doesn't mean that God has failed, his word has failed, the principle of faith has failed. No! It only means you were confronted with a challenge that was bigger than your faith capacity. And consequently, it doesn't now mean that you yourself is now a "A DISASTER MOVIE",as far the figth of faith is concerned. No, it only means one thing - it's time to get up, dust up yourself and go and feed, inject and bombard yourself with the word of God. Feed and saturate yourself with the scripture like there is no tomorrow, listen n listen to those messages of faith concerning that situation. Engage yourself in spiritual exercise by confession of the word of God over your life and situations. Embark on a speaking in tongue marathon, maybe an hour of non stop speaking in tongue; for me when i'm in my element and on top of my game i can go 2-3 hrs non stop. I tell you when you are through with this spiritual exercises, and happen to be confronted with similiar challenge, only one thing is sure that is VICTORY. All i've done here is to try and disabuse/disorientate, your perceived mindset that prosperity and divine health message is all about a state of religious utopia. Well i may not blame you completely for this mindset. It is possible you are only reacting this way due to the kind of Wof/PG purveyors you have come in contact with. I want to assure you, that the prosperity/divine healing message is not about a state af utopia, but a situation where Gods children are taught n ecouraged 2 lay hold of the word of God n it use to confront the challenges of life and believe God for victory and success. I'v listened to Kennet Copeland, Jerry Savelle, Oyedepo, and Creflo Dollar. And i'm not sure i've heard them trying to glorify a state of utopia. Maybe, pastor Chris may preach it a little over the top, i personally do not have problem with him. As i'm matured enough to pick out the valuable part of his message and if there is any i can't seem to be able to correlate with the scripture, i simply discard. And of course he still remains one of the most inspiring purveyour of the Wof/PG to me. Also just so you know i personally do not reckon with the late Myles Monreo and his ilks whose names i can't even remember now, as a purveyour of Wof. To me he was nothing more than a religious motivational speaker. So next time don't shove him up my face in your list of Wof ministers. care to show me some objective evidence of the same?My response above should do for now. Do Christians live longer, healthier and happier lives over non-Christians?What a Pooh-pooh! And honestly, you expect me to answer this. No pun intended. No amount of faith can wipe away totally the uncertainty that accompanies being clothed in flesh and bloodYou are wrong! As this position is highly subjective, and relative to individual level of growt and maturity in apprehension of the inconquerable life of glory that has been made available in Christ Jesus. |

vooks:My brother in the Lord, don't be swayed by the claims of this woman. If you follow her write-up carefully, you will understand that she is just exalting her own personal experience over the word of God. As she has failed to draw from the scriptures to back up her claims. The word of God is our final authority and we have an avalanche of scripture to fall back on. For our healing and prosperity. The only place i do not agree is when preachers or Christians start saying stuff like we cannot be sick, then be sure i will not agree on this position. The fact is so long we are encased in this body of flesh, then sickness is inevitable. But as children of God it is now our responsibility to by faith draw upon God's word and ensure our health is restored. Also know that from her claims she researched into the history of faith healing and prosperity. And as result was priviledged to met and work with those pioneer of faith. But the question now is for the fact that she met and worked with this people: 1. Is association with them a guaranty for divine health and prosperity? Ans: NO. 2. Did she have a personal one on one encounter with God, that was built on personal revelatory knowledge of God's word concerning healing and prosperity? Ans: NO. My brother her case is like that of many today that strive so much to be closer to men of God than God himself. Moreso, the claim that the prosperity and faith healing message started from E.W Kenyon under a metaphysical influence is a lie from the pit of hell. It is devilish attempt calculated to bring these glorious message from the Spirit of God to the Church to ridicule and demonize it. My bro, don't be decieved by this deciet from the pit of hell. Go do your own simple research on it by reading books from great men of God some two centuries ago and upward and see if they preached alongs this line in their own level of revelation then. The only thing that has happened is progression in revelation. Get books by Charlse .G. Finney and Smith Wigglesworth and see what they have to say about divine health and prosperity. Thanks and do take care my brother. |
vooks:It is well. My point is to critique the health-wealth-happiness utopia peddled by Oyakhilome as being at a Christian's reach. My brother it is higly obtainable. All depends on your level of faith. If the word of God has provided for it, then the question is, do you have the faith capacity to appropiate those promises? Remember God is not a man that he should lie. If he said it then he meant it. And once you are able to reach out to him in faith concerning any of his word that touches on your health and prosperity. He graciously honors you with an answer. If there is no poverty in Christ,There is poverty in Christ, or else Jesus was eggregiously decieved when he said "the poor you shall always with you" As result, by default, we will always have the poor in the Church. there equally is no divorce in Him.Who said there is no divorce in Christ? Wherever did you get that teaching from? If it is from pastor Chris then he is wrong, as that would be very unscriptural for him to teach. And if you share same thougth, then you are wrong as well, i'll counsel you study your Bible properly on that issue. But the peddler of no-poverty-in-Christ has a failed marriage!Thats your own personal conclusion and judgement. What if in the eyes of God the opposite happens to be the case. Assuming he did everything possible to sustain the marraige, but the partner just refused. Nonsense, the point remains, both couples are to blame for a failed marriage just as they are responsible for a successful one.Really? Is that how you think? Like i said earlier, lets assume that one of the party did everything humanly possible to have the marriage salvaged, but the other would have non of that. Would you still insist on your position. And to say it takes two to build and destroy a marriage, is highly axiomatic and may not necessary be truth. Yes i agree that to build a marraige you must have the cooperation of both parties. But to destroy one, all you need is for the other partner to decline rendering him or herself usefull to the positive cause of that relationship. So I've no idea why you really have to sink this low and besmirch Anita and paint Oyaks as a saint.Pheeeww!! My bro. I never did that. Go and reread my post with an open mind. Yes i said pastor Chris did't sue for the divorce, but i can still remember i also said that rev. Anita also have a right to her decision. And the only thing i know i condenmed was her taking the issue to court, that is unscriptural. Mind you i have a little knowledge of the history of their divorce. And through out the whole saga, i never picthed my tent with any party,....finally i also believe there might be ligth at the end of the tunnel on this issue. I'm not attacking the messenger, just illustrating his folly.Agreed. I was discussing with a friend and I asked her why Christians get sick. She said it is in their power to rise above any sickness and to be disease free and they only fall sick because they allow themselves to. This thinking has no empirical proof nor scriptural basis. This is fantasy thinking.I concur. Sometimes it takes nothing but death to rouse these daydreamers out of their fantasies. That moment when you have to resort to medicine,I beg to differ here. The problem with you here is that you are exalting your personal experience and those you are seeing around above the word of God. My brother just so you know, i cannot die, it is impossican't! not until i have finished the work of ministry that the Lord has bestowed upon me. I cannot die suddenly, nor by accident in whatever way or form, neithere by sickness. My bro, i have not said one may not fall sick ooo!, but to think i'll now fall to drug for my healing? Taaaar! forget am. Bro you must know that your own level of faith or those you see around shouldn't be used as a parameter to judge everybody. Faith is personal. or bury a faithful believer who firmly believed they would be healed is the turning point. Here it is not your own faith that is being called into question. Little wonder all the most rabid Word of Faith purveyors succumb to sicknesses. Their medicine somewhat does not work on themNot true. Go and read about Smith Wigglesworth. |
Gombs:My bro. Choi!! How on earth did i turn that scripture upside down? I thougth i only referenced that portion of scripture just to buttress my point on why we have to exercise faith and patience in our act of faith giving. And all i did was to quote from the KJV version. Then in countering me all you did is to come up with the Message version that has a different rendering of it though still very close. And you call it turning the scripture upside down? Hmmm!!! Well let me give you these trioka of translation and see what you call them. AMPC - AMPLIFIED BIBLE, CLASSIC EDITION In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but immitators, behaving as do those who through faith [by leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness] and by pratice of patience endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promise. TLB - LIVING BIBLE. Then, knowing what lies ahead for you, you wont become bored with being a Christian nor become spiritaully dull and indifferent, but you will be anxious to follow the example of those who receive all that God has promised them because of their strongh faith and patience. OJB - ORTHODOX JEWISH BIBLE. That not become Atzlanit(sluggard) but immitators of those who through Enumah and Zitzfleish(patience) inherit the Hartachot(promise). but... It's the truth of God's word. No point tining down the truth... That's the devil's thought. How can i be one with Jesus, the heir of all things, a joint-heir, and hence impossible for me to be poor...and you still tell me to tone down that truth? When i said we should tone down the way we present the message of prosperity i didn't mean that we should water down the truth of Gods word as far as that line of teaching goes. But in tining down, i mean how it is being presented in many qauters in the body of Christ. It almost being touted like if you are a child of God then you must be rich and if you ever happen to be poor(according to their own porious estimation of what it means to be poor), then that is an anormally in your walk with God. They make it look like once you give your life to Christ then wants and lack should be a bygone experience once and for all in your life. They make it look like there should be an immediate turn around in fortunes in your life. Whereas the opposite should actually be the case. They neglect to let you know that even your suffering of wanton lacks and needs also serves as a form of trial for you to use as a platform to negotiate a solid inter personal relationship with God. Gombs tell me, how easy will it be for a newly born again Christian, from a very poor background, and without a higher education certificate, in country like Nigeria, to survive and quickly turn around his/her fortune in a couple years of giving their life to Christ. Of course that is pretty not possible. The only exception being having the kind of Olajumoke the Agege bread seller kind of story. Do you now see the reason behind the "God must pick my call kind of prayer point". Because many of them pastors have made it look like once you give your life to Christ, then there should necessarily be an almost immediate turn around in your fortunes. So my drift of toning it down is that is should be presented in a way that makes it clear to them young believers that though God has provided for their wealth and prosperity in Christ Jesus, they should seek for it in faith and patience and most importantly their salvation in Christ. if you think it is a lie, provide scriptures... Jesus made his kids rich, therefore a Christian is not the one trying to be rich, but one who's discovering His inheritance. For goodness sakes He said " All things are yours". Should i tone that down too?Same response as above. I know better. Thank you sir... I write here, then get to prayer... for all those who'd read this and get a change in their thinkingGood. ... forget An2elect2 and companyWhy? What are your reasons? Finally, take good care. |
Gombs:Ok. That's why we teach. Have you taken time to teach these?Really! Did you just ask me this? I mean, I'm here teaching, some are here trying to scatter... Imagine of those of us with knowledge of these things teach it so much so that we boot out the lies of the devil..I agree. But you can only do so much. like "God chose some people to be poor".Please what exactly is you definition of the word "poor". Ever wondered why the tithes debate kinda died of? The vehement attack on Pastors? If you've been on NL long enough, you'd know some of us put an end in the reasoning of some folks about these things...Ok. Been here just a year and few couple months. and we got personal messages of gratitude for it.Just as those with a differing view may have gotten similar message of gratitude. It kinda works both ways. And of course depending on the scriptures they came up with in defence of their position. Then they migth just be right. From my own scriptural understanding tithing is not meant for a Christian. But if one decides to engage in it then he shouldn't be condenmed.......cos tithing is a scriptural principle though not necessarily designed for the Christian man. But we are not talking about tithe here, so i rest may case. divine timing and patience... Mind explaining more with scriptures.. the term "Divine Patience" and "Diving Timing"?lolx,......dont mind me, just remove the word "divine" and maybe it will make a little sense. Well i'm sure you don't have any problem with the word "patience". As it is an important virture for a Christian to possess in their walk of faith. Then by timing, what i should have said should have been taking time to watch over your seed spiritaully and in a dutifull way. Of course there are to sides to these, depending on how you are constituted in the spirit at the point in time you exercised this act of faith in giving. They are: 1. This has to do with that point in time when one embarks on a journey of faith, lets say in seed sowing or on healing and one feels this strong force field of faith within and act accordingly at that point in time, in sowing that seed of faith(maybe a car) or declaring that word of healing over the infirmity in question. Then one gets this instant note of victory within, that one doesn't need to come again to pray or confess the word over the issue. And of course in this type of faith engagement, the result is sure and certain as the leap in faith had being taken and there wouldn't be any need to spiritually watch over that faith project or act. 2. This second one in question is when you feel impelled within to sow a seed for something maybe finacial seed or be it healing over an infirmity, then after taken that first step in giving or declearing healing; one doesn't just stop there but get down to persevering prayer over that sickness and costantly declaring the word concerning the ailment until one get that note of victory. And for giving one does similar thing as well by breaking up your fallow ground and nuturing that seed by watering it with confession of the word. Let me stop here for now. |
Gombs:Epic !!!! |
vooks:vooks, i think it's high time you stopped taking a jibe at pastor Chris because of the unsavoury turn of event in his marital life. It is a well known fact, that there are no couple that have not had a fair share of its own joy and pains as far as reationship is concerned. Hence pastor Chris cannot be an exemption. He is human too! Mind you he did'nt sue for the divorce. The wife did and of course she is entitled to her right. Though i do not subscribe to the part of taking your spouse to court. That one is unscriptural. Moreso, don't swallow hook, line and sinker every thing the fift estate had dished out concerning his divorce saga. Trust them to have embellished it with many unfounded and concorted lines. That said, i know you may bear grudges with Pastor Chris for some of his teachings especially the masturbation stuff, which you may find unscriptural. Nonetheless i'll counsel you keep an open mind where he is and not get easily worked up when you read or hear some stuff from him that may not align with your theological worldview. As he might at the end of the day be right while you happen to be wrong or vice versa. Please get this, pastor Chris is a genuine man of God, though some of his teachings may seem controversial or downright unscriptural. These does not in anyway negate his status as a man of God. As he has never preached in anyway to point poeple away from Christ or God our father. At times some of these percieved theological blunders are not deliberately designed to steer the children of God away from the truth but rather they happen to be his own mistakes and fallibility as human. What i personally do is that i take the ones i'm convinced is scriptural and the other ones i do not deem fit i humbly discard. That is why i have my Bible and like Paul said of the Berean Christians that "they went and searched the scriptures to see if those things were true" So for the Op i'll like to know your personal take on it with scriptural position rather than attack the messenger. God bless. |
Gombs:Bro. Gombs, don't you think that a Christian that has done some of the afore mentioned things you talked about e.g, giving, praying and confessing the word of God and yet nothing seem to happen. Don't you think the problem may lie in the fact that: 1. Active and revelatory knowledge of "faith" is not in place. Because it is spiritually impossible to sow a seed financially and water those seeds with prayer and confession of the word by active faith and not get a result. Like you know these spiritual principles/laws are more sure like any known law of physics. So i personally believe that if any Christian had done the above things you talked about and yet no result, then it can be easily put down to poor conception and understanding of what na.ked and active faith is all about. 2. It could also be as a result of poor grasping of spiritual timing. Seeing that many a time the preachers of prosperity makes it look like if you give now you will instantly reap whatever you have sown. And these quick fix attitude being progagated by some of them pastors doesn't help the young Christians in understanding how to divinely wait for your seeds to germinate, grow and bear fruits. Remember every seed grows at its own circle of growth. So there must be a place of divine timing and patience. Heb 6:12 - That ye be not slotful, but followers of them who through FAITH AND PATIENCE INHERIT THE PROMISE. Like you can see faith and patience[divine waiting and timing] is crucial if one wants to operate in this DIVINE ECONOMY. My bro. You can now see and understand why a Christian may not appropiate some of his/her divine blessing that should come through the principle of giving and receiving. Also note that when these two ingredients are not in place than a young Christian may start murmuring and complaining and hence start making the wrong confessions thereby invalidating the previous confessions of faith. And these is like sowing a seed, watering it and going again to uproot the same seed and doing these over and over again, and still expects to reap a harvest from same seed. It is spiritually impossible. Prov 15:4 - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a christian to be poor, a christian can only be IGNORANT of his riches, because to be a christian, is to be in ONENESS with Jesus Christ, and therefore a joint-heir with Jesus. This is why describing a Christian as "poor" is a misnomer.I think this is where lots of folks will misunderstand you and hence see your write-up as heretical and i think we should tone down in the way we present these message. And not make it look like - you cannot be poor as a Christian and if you are then something is wrong. Even though i understand your drivel, yet we've got to tone down the way it is presently being served. Anything other than a mild presention in outlook will not suffice. My brother i've been blessed by this Op of yours and i hope God's children will in faith and humilty profit from it as well. And not let all these dumb atheistard discourage them with their doomed Ahitophel counsel like comments. Remain blessed. |
An2elect2:My sister, you may not agree with him, but the rigth thing to do is to counter his claims with superior scriptural arguement. Rather than call him a false teacher and joining forces with an unbeliever to condem your brother in the Lord. The same person you are joining forces with has accussed your Bible of being distorted, what do you have to say about that? Moreso, the Bible is extravagantly adorned with scriptures on prosperity. Maybe the only problem is the way it is being presented. Like.. 1. If you are poor as a Christian, then something is wrong with you. 2. The prosperity preachers seems to glorify prosperity and riches more than salvation and holiness before the Lord. So i'm of the view that they have to find a balance and also stop making it look like if you are a Christian and you are poor then something is wrong. Stay blessed. |
Newnas:what an infantile generalization. Does every Christian hold the same view as that of the OP. And pray tell, what ever in the Op made you come to such a reprobate conclusion such as these. and the only righteous Christian is the wealthy Christian. He never said that, just your own distorted view. Now I know why owning a private jet is a sign of prophethood in Christianity even if those jets are used for smuggling ammunition.Sheer cognitive distortion. Help yourself man. Now I know why church services are the same monotonous dose of placebo giving people 'reasons' why they are poor.Same old "cognitive distortion" Young man you obviously need Christ in you life. However, tell me, was Jesus himself a wealthy man?2 Cor 8:9 - For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich. Yeah! He was as you can see from the scripture above. As all his needs were miracleously meet by the Father. As being wealthy simply means having ones need being met and not owning private jets like you wrongly surmised. how many men of God did the Bible -as distorted as it is - describe as wealthy such that they were known for their wealth?Papa A.B, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon -a stupendiously rich king- and of course some other patriach in the Bilbe. Moreso, the Bible is replete with scriptures on prosperity. And if you can't deal with it, don't blame us blame God as i want to presume your atheistic or islamic nature will reflexly obey. the Bible - as distorted as it is -Please, graciously supply us proof for this your distorted position. Then we can take you serious, or forever hold your peace. JESUS IS LORD. |
johnydon22:What exactly are you saying? Who are the masses that should pause a bit and ask these dumb questions of yours............"are these religion here to help us or are we the one here to help some few people get rich"? Who or what ever gave you that impression that Christianity is about the masses of adherents helping a few(Pastors) getting rich? Jonnydon22, it is obvious your are blissfully ignorant of what Christianity is all about. Just so you know, Christianity is the life of God in a human person - simply put, it is divinity in humanity! And Jesus Christ is our role model. Whose life and deed we pattern ours after. And not that of any pastor/pastorneur. My brother, Christianity is a personal relationship with God. And our lifestyle is not subject nor dictated by that of them pastors. But that of Christ, like i earlier noted. Jonnydon22, do not for once think that we Christians are feather brained. We are not ignorant of the lavish lifestyle some of these Pastors are entertaining themselves with. That we give and sow seeds financially does not mean we are gullible tools at their becks and call and whims and caprices. But rather the scripture resonates with such sacrificial attitude. Hence we are only just obeying the dictates of our heavenly father as stipulated in the scripture of truth. But if the pastors now decides to avail themselves of this our financial bounty for personal and selfish aggrandizement instead of using it to further the cause of the ministry and helping the poor. Then be sure our God and father will surely requit it of them on the day of reckoning. Sorry if i was a bit harsh ab initio. |
Peritus:May God richly bless you. |
kissval1388:Point of correction! The Ooni is not the Vice Chancellor but the Chancellor. |
solopumpy:@ the bolded.......... I'm pretty sure you would be blissfully proud of yourself, that such a super intelligent being like you could afford to make such an infantile generalization. BTW..........the Ooni is higly welcome!! |
malvisguy212:Well, i'll leave yu and MuttleyLaff with a number of english translation of the Bible on this same verse to stew and ponder on. NIV - However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear this name. AMP - But if anyone suffers[ill-treatment] as a Christian[because of his belief], he is not to be ashamed, but it is to glorify God[because he is considered worthy to suffer] in this name. CEB - But don't be ashamed if you suffer as one who belongs to Christ[Christian]. Rather, honour God as you bear Christ name. Give honour to God. CJB - But if anyone suffer for being Messianic, let him not be ashamed; but let him bring glory to God by the way he bears this name. ERV - But if you suffer because you are a "Christ-Follower", don't be ashamed. You should praise God for that name. EXB - But if you suffer because you are a Christian, do not be ashamed. Praise God because you wear that name. TLB - But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the priviledge of being in Christ's family and being called in his wonderful name. MSG - If you are abused because of Christ, count yourself fortunate. It is the Spirit of God and his glory in you that brought you to others. If they are on you because you broke the law or disturbed peace, that is a different matter, But if it is because you're a Christian, don't give second thought. Be proud of the distinguished status reflected in that name. GW - If you suffer for being a Christian, don't feel ashamed , but praise God for being called that name. VOICE - But if you should suffer for being a Christian, don't think of it as a disgrace, as it would be if you had done wrong. Praise God you are permitted to carry this name. I sincerely hope these various translations will help you re-structure your thinking on this issue. Enjoy. And God bless. |

This your reply left me cracked up. I don't even know if i should say yu did't read my post at all or should i say yu failed to comprehend it in the first place, though this may sound sarcastic. malvisguy212:Agreed, it was in reference to the trials they were and would go through as FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST -"CHRISTIANS" and he was actually contrasting it to that of the unbelievers. That they Christ followers[CHRISTIANS], shouldn't be caught being punished by the same offence that an unbeliever is being punished for. The unbeliever could be punished if caught in theft, murder robbery or any other crime as listed in vs.. 15 - But let non of yu[who is a follower of Christ i.e a Christian] suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil doer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. In verse 16, he now says.... - But if anyone suffer because he/she is a Christian[follower of Christ], let him/her not be ashamed; but let him glorify/praise God on this behalf[this priviledge of being called a Christian or follower of Christ]. Yu can see clearly as i have managed to rephrase it, that he was actually refering them early believers as Christians - which simply translates as a follower or imitator of Christ or someone that is like Christ. So please stop all this sophistry yu guys are sophisticating here. and is in reference to the name as IMPOSED upon them by THEIR ENEMIES, because our enemies want us to suffer.Sincerely i don tire for this spurious claims yu guys are making here. My God! This is pure chicanery. Pls, show me just a single verse from the scripture as a proof for this claim yu are making that it was the early christians enemies that gave them the name "Christian" Seeing it is possible for it to have been coined by the early believers themselves. As the scripture is silent on the side of the divide that actually coined the name "Christian" , hence, we cannot for certainity assert with any sense of certitude that is was the pagans nor the early believers that first coined it. As a result whatever concusion we arrive at this issues, is subject to mere speculation and should never be treated as if it were a fact. and amazingly it was the pagans at antioch who first call the apostles christians. The pagans are trying to described something they did not see.Same answer here as the one above. If you are a constituent of a Kingdom, you do not name one in the same Kingdom any thing; but you call them according to the relation between the two of you (brother, sister, mother, father, workman, labourer, minister, bishop, deacon, etc). And who establishes the relation? The Lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22, James 4:12).Agreed. But yu guys seems to be making a mountian out of a mole hill with the appellation "Christian" And if i may ask,... - What is the meaning of the name Christian?? - Are yu a JW or CATHOLIC?? - And don't fail to supply just a single verse in the bible supporting your claim that it was the pagans in Antioch that first called the early believers Christians. |
malvisguy212:My brother, my brother!! Pls read the scripture with understanding. That statement in the above verse of scripture as put up by Apostle Peter is not a simile, it is not a figure of speech. He wasn't talking figuratively, metaphorically or rhetorically, rather that is a clear statement of fact. Intentionally set up to provide the early believers with a lucid contradistinction of the type of trials and challenges they are to face in the hands of the unbelieiving society. In no uncertain terms it seek to help early believe have a lucid understanding of the peculiar trials and affliction they are to face and be identified with. And this is to be in sharp contrast to that of the unbelievers. Simply put he is trying to explian to them that if they should ever be found guilty in the hands of the law of the society, it shoudn't be because they commited one civil crime or the other, like theft, murder, a meddler in other people affairs, and any other crime. But rather it should be because of their professed faith in Christ. Which is likely to attract ridicle and opposition from the unbelieving society, the wake of which is certian to bring verbal insults/ disperagement , persecutions like commiting them to prison, physical molestation/ assault, confiscation/destruction of their property and etc. And this is why it is imperative that one reads the scripture contextually so as to arrive at meaningful and intelligent conclusion. Now reading from vs 12 - My dear friends, do not be suprised at the painful test yu are suffering, as though something unusual were happening to yu. 13 - Rather be glad that yu are sharing Christ's sufferings, so that yu may be full of joy when his glory is revealed. 14 - Happy are yu if yu are insulted because yu are Christ's followers; this means that the glorious Spirit, the Spirit of God is resting on yu. 15 - if any of yu suffer, it must not be because yu are a murderer or a thief or a criminal or a meddler in other people affairs. 16 - However if yu suffer because yu are a Christian[/u]don't be ashamed of it, but thank God that[u]yu bear Christ's name. Goodnews Version. Now my brother except if yu want to be dead to reason then there no gainsaying the fact that the above portions of scripture clearly called the early believers CHRISTIANS. Now yu also got up talk of how that was the only time an apostle mentioned that name in the bible. And so what? Are yu trying to insinuate that because that is the only instance we have an apostle or a believer making reference to that name/term in the entire bible, then it is unscriptural, hmn!.. Yu obviously want to draw strength from the injuction in the scripture that in the mouth of 2-3 witnesses should every word be confirmed. But yu are obviously not thinking outside the box to understand that the mere alluding to it by Peter in a positive setting is a pointer to the fact, that he is giving and lending support/ credence to it. And yu must also understand that in trying to seek out scriptures to bolster any doctrine in the faith; even if we could only pinpoint a singular scripture that point to an issue of doctrine,.. Maturity in understanding the scripture also behoves us to search out for other kindred verse/verses of scripture that genarally speaking, sort of lends credence or credibilty to the obvious singular one that we have. Hence in good authority, i believe that Paul's reaction to king Aggripa when he insinuated that Paul was almost trying to convince him to become a Christian, also lends credence to the fact that Paul himself was not averse to the idea of being called a Christian. Acts 26 vs 28 - Then Aggripa said unto paul, almost thou persuadest me to become a Christian. 29 - And Paul said, i would to God that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day,..... So we can conclusively say that Peter alluding to it and Paul consenting to the idea of not being averse to the idea of being called a Christian, both inclusively lends credibility to that term as an appellation that was accepted in the early church, whether or not the people that coined it as non believers had the intention to use it as a spite word/term or not. |
MuttleyLaff:Thanks for the words of encouragement tho..... Although i do not personally suffer from identity crisis. As i am an old hand in the mud on issues like this. And the fact of who i am is not lost on me. My life is not governed by what people say about me. Well i'm propelled and driven by what my God says about me and what i think of myself. I am a divine contraption from the top drawer - 1 Cor 15 vs 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am........ - I am a procduct of prophetic ochestration. Divinely designed to succeed. - For i know who i am........because greater, greater, greater, greater, greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.........for i am born of the indestructible and in corruptible word of God........and daily my mind is renewed in the knowledge of the image of him who has created me.....i am gods. Thanks bruh and take good care. |
