Jozzy4:
Have you study the greek word "pais" in Act 3:13 before saying servant is error ? pais: it means " a male CHILD, boy (b) a servant of God (c) a female CHILD, girl"

So where did your bible version see "SON" thats inserted?

According to the greek word 'pais',its either Jesus is a CHILD or Servant , wich?
Please don't make me laugh. So the arguement has now gotten to the level of digging into the etymology of words.

But atleast you should have been sincere and generous enough to let us in into the fact that the word pais could also mean a "MALE LOVER".

So we probably can also ask which is he(Jesus) a son/male child/servant/or a male lover(concubine).

Well the King James version has son and i will personally choose a son over servant any time any day.

NOTE : scripture made it clear that Jesus IS A SERVANT of the God of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob ( Act 3:13)
I'm done arguing about the divinity of christ with you. It's your right to believe whatever that floats your boat religious wise.

Well, i just want to point out an error in the bible verse you cited above; refering to Jesus as a servant of God in Acts 3:13. It actually refered to Jesus as the son of God and not servant.

Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his SON Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

I hope correction has been taken.

NOTE: I'm not averse to the idea of Jesus being designated as a servant of God. As the old testament is replete with scripture designating him as such.

Shallom.

Hahahaaa!!! Slow down love. Seems you will never cease to amaze me with your extravagance of folly.

What exactly is your problem? Is it that you are suffering from chronic "low comprehension"? Don't mean to sound insulting but the kind of reasoning you come up with whenever you quote the bible is rather just too embarrassing.

Ok, let even analyze the portion of scripture you quoted to infer that the bible was not talking about Jesus.
Revelation 1:4–5

4John to the seven churches that are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from him who is and
who was and who is to come,
well reading Rev 1:4 from face value, it doesn't give an indepth explanation on the person being described, and that was why i gave u a home work to go and study Rev 1-3. If you had done that maybe you would have been able to save yourself from this public ridicule you are exposing your self to.

If i may ask who exactly is this personage that is being described as who is, and who was and who is to come?....u didn't even make any bone to let us into who this person is. Cos you certainly don't know and all u've been doing is simply splitting hairs.

Well i'm going to explain this to u for the umpteenth and last time. Now for us to have a good understanding let start by reading from:

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. Saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Vs 10 I was in the spirit on the lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.
Vs 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and last...
Vs 12 And i turned to see d voice that spake with me. And being turned, i saw 7 golden candle sticks;
Vs 13 And in the midst of d 7 candle stick one like the son of man, clothed with a garment down to d foot, and girt about d paps with a golden girdle.
Vs 14 His head and hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
Vs 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace and his voice as d sound of many waters.

Vs 16 And he had in his right hand 7 stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as d sun shineth in his strenght.
Vs 17 And when i saw him, i fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me saying unto me,Fear not; I am the first and last.

Now if i may ask do u agree that d person who John saw and heard speaking to him from vs 11-17 is Jesus? Also do u notice what Jesus said toJohn in vs 17...I am the first and last does that ring a bell to you with d previous vs of 8 I am Alpha(the first) and Omega(the last), the beginning and the ending. And vs 11 brings the two together....Saying I am Alpha and Omega, the first and last...

Moreso, Rev 1:18 may also help to explain what d statement "who is, who was and who is to come means and who it is refering to..
Vs 18 I am he that liveth(who is),and was dead(who was);and behold, I am alive for evermore, amen.(who is to come).
Does this not buttress d fact that Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, d beginning and the end, saith d Lord, which is, and which was and which is to come d Almighty.
Vs 4...and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come;
is refering to Jesus Christ.
and from d seven Spirits who are before his throne,
Concerning d above statement, a careful study will also show that this description is being attributed to Christ.

Now run with me to Rev 3:1 And unto d angel of d church in Sardis write; These thing saith he that hath d 7 spirit of God... Although, whenever d 7 Spirit of God is refered to in d bible, it is symbolic of d Holy Spirit in its fullness.

But d statement in Rev 1:4 of greetings coming from d 7 Spirit which are before his throne is actually refering to Jesus as i have shown i Rev 3:1, that he is the one having the 7 Spirit of God.And more importantly Rev 5:6

And i beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four beast, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having 7 horns and 7 eyes which are the 7 Spirit of God sent forth into all the earth. Now there is no gain saying the fact that this scripture is refering to Jesus as the one having the 7 Spirit of God ...In a nutshell the 7 Spirit of Rev 1:4 is refering to Jesus.

Jozzy4, next time do ur home work well b/4 coming 2 d public 2 let fly another rasping poor comprehension disorder dat is fast becoming ur signature trait here on nairaland.
Indoctrination shocked , is revelation 1:8 refering to Jesus ?
No, it is not refering to Jesus. It is actually mohammed that it is refering to.

I guess he(mohammed) is the one which is, which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Now dear can you solve the riddle i just gave you?....need a little expo?---will help you out.

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Vs 17 And when i saw him, i fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not; I am the first and last:

Vs 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, i am alive for evermore, Amen.

Well since i'm not done with you yet, i'm going to give a home work so that we can test how fast you are on the up take.

Now go and study Revelation chapter 1-3, then when you are done, you come back and tell me who is indoctrinated and spiritually blind and ignorant.

Cheers!!

Apparently u didnot read my post where I cited several verses supporting christ's divinity so I will present to u one verse;

25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
God bless you. You have given so many compelling verses of the scripture that proves the divinity of Jesus. Yet, this Is_lame children, atheists and psuedo xtians on nairaland never seem to be able to grasp the truth.

And the reason for this is not far fetched:

2 Cor 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

Vs4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Eph 4:17 This i say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Vs 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.

well just to compound their woe, let me give them one additional portion of the scripture that proves the divinity of Christ:

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and was, and is to come, the ALMIGHTY.

Christianity EtcRe: What Exactly Is Speaking In Tongues. by nynbrada: 2:45am On Jul 24, 2015
Continued....

The 3rd time we will be hearing of someone receiving the Holy Ghost was when Ananias went to pray for paul(saul) to receive his sight and be filled with the Holy Ghost and again no intimation of what language he spoke, after he got filled with the Holy Ghost.

And finally when Peter went to preach to Cornelius Acts 10:44-46 while Peter yet spake these words , the Holy Ghost fell on them which heard the word.
Vs 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Vs 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Now from these portion of scripture we just cited, there is no gain saying the fact that the language spoken in tongues here certainly was not a known language as some people love to claim. But rather an unknown tongue. The following points will disprove that theory that the apostles spoke in a known foreign language:
(i) Cornelius was obviousy or probably a Roman.
(ii) He certainly wasn't a Jew. Vs 28.
(iii) Vs 46...Has it that those that came with Peter heard them speak with tongues and glorified God. The question now is can any proponent of known forerign language sincerely say it was a known foreign language that they spoke. And if it was how did Peter and the fellow jews that came with him get to know the meaning of those foreign language seeing that it wasn't their native hebrew language.
And if it was the hebrew language that they spoke, this wouln't be much of a miracle, as one would expect that Cornelius and those with him should be able to pick one or two things in the hebrew language since they reside in Isreal.

So from the forgoing it is obvious that what they spoke was an unknown tongue.

To be continued....

michaelwillti:
For dose dat try to ignore acts 2, re u saying acts 2 conveys incomplete information or is probably a hoax?
My brother, if you are a christian and you sincerely want to learn, then you will do well to keep an open mind.

Back to your question, no one is trying to ignore what happened in Acts 2, neither are we trying to say that it conveys an incomplete information and much worse being a hoax. But the problem we have with Acts 2 is the false interpretation that has been given to it.

And this has to do with the teaching that the apostles and the others that were with them on the day of pentecost actually spoke in a known language after that the Holy Ghost had come upon them, but unfortunately the reverse is the case as they actually spoke in an unkwon tongue. And the only way for us to ascertain this is by applying biblical injuction that admonishes us on how to dissect and analyize scriptural incidents.

And the way to do this is by reverting back to the scripture.
2 Peter 1:20, Says that.....Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
1 Timothy 6:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before 2 or 3 witnesses. You can also check Deut. 19vs15 and Num. 35vs30. The reason for these scriptures is for us to understand that in explaining the Bible we should learn to compare scripture with scriptures.
Also note 1 Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
The question now is what spiritual thing are we trying to compare. Well from our on going discussion we are trying to estalish what language was spoken by the apostles on the day of pentecost. Was it a known language like they are trying to make us beleive in their explanation of Acts 2:5-11....that the people heard them speak in their own tongues wherein they were born....Pathians, Medes, Elemites, etc, the wonderful work of God...or was it as some of us has been positing an unknown tongue, esoteric in nature, as found in 1 Cor. 14.
So in establishing what language they spoke, we will have to compare other scenarios in the Bible where people received the Holy Ghost,
Acts 8 provides a situation where Philip went down to Samaria and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which he spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did..vs 14..Now when the apostle which were at Jerusalem heard that samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John.
Vs 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them that they might recevie the Holy Ghost.
Vs 16 For as yet he was falling upon non of them..
Vs 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
This is the second time in the Bible that we will be hearing about people receiving the Holy Ghost, though the scripture here is silent on what particular language they spoke, the only thing we can ascertain is that the Apostle prayed for them to receive the Holy Ghost.

To be continued....

@ Ops, why not pick your Bible for yourself. Put those scriptures abt Tongues together and try understanding Tongues and their relevance.Funny enough someone came talking three kinds of tongues but explained only one.
The Bible calls Tongues the Language of Angels 1st Cor 13:1
And Spotsman quoted 1Cor14:2 for U. That verse, if explained also tells us that Tongues is the language of God. Sorry if ur Pastor speaks trash, but, I think its to ur carnal mind, because he is not speaking to u. That trash is a mystery to his God.
My pastors don't speak trash. My Bishop Oyedepo and my Winners pastors don't speak Trash. And I do not speak trash.
Listen, tongues can be faked, just like every other thing, but the tongues given to you at the point of Baptism by fire, or Holy ghost Baptism, you can't fake it. We don't speak the same tongues. If you listen to Bishop Oyedepo. ( who I believe you hate so much and I don't care), his tongues sounds like latin. Mine sounds like Arabic. I can't speak his, except I want to fake it. But if u r faking it, then am not sure communication will take place.

sportsmaster:
i started praying for you immediately i read this.
you will grow much more in all wisdom and spiritual understanding
Thanks bro. You actually made me weep a little in the spirit cos this was the same prayer Paul prayed for the Ephesians brethen.

Well in continuation of my post, here are d other seeming contradiction in the Bible...

2...Numerical Mistake: for example
1 King4:26 And solomon had 40,000 stalls of horse for his chariots, and 12,000 horsemem.
2 Chron9:25 And solomon had 4,000 stall of horses and 12,000 horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem...now this particular mistake can be attributed to d following...
(i) Transcription error, as in where one number was meant and an incorrect one was written.
(ii) Translator difficulty in ascertaining d correct numerical value d original Hebrew actually meant; due 2 certain difficulties in understanding ancient Hebrew numerical values as a result of their similarities...No way you are going to hold my God laible for this mistake.

3 Quoting the scripture out of context: we see these too often from d muslims n atheist, for example...
Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and in all thy getting get understanding.
Ecc 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief and he that increaset
knowledge increaset sorrow...Now it's only d foolish atheist n muslims dat will quote scriptures like this and many others and tell u that they are contradictory.

4 Writer vs Individual witness account: eg Paul's conversion account...here Luke d writer gave this account..
Acts 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man...then Paul's account of these incident that was personal to him..
Acst 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me... Now how does one blame God for this.
Sportsmaster, i can actually go on and on pointing out certain apparent errors in d Bible, but which after thorough examination will show that one cannot actually hold God accountalble for this mistakes.

Final bullet...God's prophetic and doctrinal messages are 100% consistent with each other and whatever mistakes or error that has been caused by human writer, translators and individual misconstruction of the Bible, our God is not morally bond to give an accounting for these mistakes.

My dear brother in the lord relax, as our God and Father is sufficiently in possession to ensure that His word and the church of Jesus Christ comes top amidst these turbulent times being perpetrated by these dumb atheists and muslims in trying to discredit the bible and the existence of our God and king and of his blessed son Jesus the Christ.

Always remember the word of God...acts 19:20..So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. Shalom.

Thanks bro for soliciting for our contribution. I've actually been following from the sidelines and didn't want to get personally involved, since u guys are really holding your own against all these atheist n islambad children. Nonetheless i believe your call on some of us to make a contribution is timely n divinely inspired.

Without much ado' i 'll like to make it clear here and once n for all that all these perceived and apparent contradictions in the Bible are actually reconcillable contradictions. To explain i' ll start wt what i will term understanding the nature of the bible 101.

Lecture 1:...
The Bible is axiomatically refered to as the word of God, while in actual truth it is a book that contains God's word and also historical events about the people of Isreal n of course historical account of Jesus Christ n the early church. Having established this point we move to the next.

Lecture 2:
Inerrancy of God's word....from the bible there is not a single prophetic utterance or revelation pointing to the coming of christ and the essence of his death n ressurection that contradicts one another, neither any theological or doctrinal revelation that contradicts one another, like d writings of paul on d church n dat of other apostles. And these 2 components: the prophetic utterances concerning christ n d revelation concerning his body the church happens to be the theme of d xtian faith. And no single contradiction can be found in these 2 fundamental components.

Perceived n apparent contradictions in the Bilble:
As earlier stated d bible contains historical accounts of the children of isreal n d life and works of jesus christ as seen in mathew, mark, luke n john. The writers of these historical accounts are different individuals dat lived at a different point in time in history n obviously they didn't have d kind of information storage facilities dat we have now, so it is very possible for someone trying to rewrite a historical account without any access to d previous records not to make a mistakes.
These mistakes can be seen as followings:

1...contradictions on the accounts of the life of christ in d synoptic gospels...u will agree wt me dat 2 to 3 eye-witnesses to an incident or accident will come up wt different scenarios of dat incident, simply put there would be as much similarities as there would be dissimilarities in there accounts. As a result d seeming contradiction in some of d accounts in mattew, mark, luke n john cannot be far fetched. Also note if they all had given the same account from A-Z without any seeming contradition these same critics will be d 1st to point accussing finger for lack of discrepancy in their accounts n they will start telling u how unscientific those accounsts are, as it's scientifically impossible for 3-4 eyewitnesses to give the same account of an incident without any apparent contradition. And also expect them to push it a little further by arguing dat since this is not possible it simply means that d 4 synoptic gospel was writen by one individual n dat he now duplicated the other 3 wt differnt pseudonym. And as a result his integrity should be questioned all in a bid to discredit the bible.

To be continued....

I always say this.
"if an Atheists claims that he used to be a christian",the truth is that he was never a christian. He never believed in the First place.
I dont know what the english bible terms "believing" as but Believing in line with the Gospel is a total conviction of the heart.
If truly you were convinced the Gospel you believed,You cannot become an atheist.
For example someone like me,
i have opened "deaf ears" once.
I have interceeded for a sibling that was pronounced them and she came to life.
I have ministered healings on more than 1 occasions and many more.
I have given exact and precise "WORD OF KNOWLEDGE".
there is a WITNESS on the inside that i truly received the Gospel.

I am 100% convinced of that which i received and i will also commit the same thing to others.

Those of you "Athiests" claiming to be Once christians, you were never christians, you never believed the Gospel.
Cc theAthiest101,platteon and all of you Athiests.
I totally agree wt you, it's obvious that they were all nomimal xtians. Xtians that probably had the letter but grossly lacking in the Spirit of it.

As one cannot claim to be a xtian and yet fail to take God by his word. And this is what all these so called former xtian but now atheist actually did. They failed to take God by his word, but instead they decided to apply logic and human reasoning to explain and evaluate God's word, far, far, far, foul. Little wonder they failed abyssmaly in their xtian walk. And now funnily they actually think they have found the truth. In their own words they are now emancipated from religious brainwashing.

A xtian that cannot walk by faith is obviously a carnal xtian; a xtian that is ruled and controled by his 5 senses( sense of taste, smell, sound, sight and touch or feeling). While on the other hand, a true xtian is someone that takes God by his word and that walks by faith.
Hebrew 11 vs 6..but without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is(exist and is self existant),...
Hebrew 11 vs 1..now faith is the substance of things hoped for, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.
2Cor 4 vs 18...while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

If they had actually walked by faith they would never have become atheist. Simply put they failed in their xtain walk, and as one rightly puts it, they are nothing more than a failed and fustruated soul in their xtian enterprise. An now they have become haters of God.

May God have mercy on them.
Christianity EtcRe: Please I Am Confused About The Time Of Rapture According To The Bible... by nynbrada: 9:56pm On Jul 08, 2015
Scholar8200:
The rapture would precede the Great tribulation. The pre-rapture believers are not the tribulation saints referred to in Revelations 7:14 & 20:4. Besides, the rapture described in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 does not fit into the 7yr tribulation period; it precedes it. Furthermore, the coming of Jesus after the tribulation is not to take saints to Heaven (rapture) but to overthrow the antichrist and commence the millenial reign see Revelations 19:11-21 & 20:1-6.
You've said it all. God bless.
