Are you aware that the technology we use and interact with on a daily basis is tracking and recording our every move? Google, Facebook and many others has built a detailed character profile of all its users, and they are always tracking your location, and data. So by following these five simple steps you can see just how much Google knows about you, your interests, the places you have visited, and your search habits. ▶ First make sure you’re logged into a Google account Google only saves the searches you have made while logged into an unrestricted Google account. While it might not have every search you’ve ever made, it can give you a pretty accurate picture of your browsing habits. ▶ Then go to or vist www.google.com/history on your browser. ▶ Select the down arrow next to “last week” and change it to “all time” ▶ Browse your more recent search history by selecting “last month” and “last year” ▶ Deleting your browsing data You can delete the search data Google has stored for you by clicking the three dots on the top right hand side of the window and selecting “Delete options”. It gives you the immediate option to delete data from “Today” and “Yesterday”. If you click “Advanced” it then lets you delete information from the last four weeks or “All time”. ▶ Google knows where you’ve been If you click the three dots in the top right hand corner of the window and select “Settings” then “Show more controls” you can “Manage Activity” under the “Places you Go” tab. If you don’t have location services turned off this will show you a map of all of the places where you have used your mobile device. This is part of Google’s Timeline, which it launched last year. ▶ See how old Google thinks you are If you scroll to the bottom of the “Activity controls” page and select “Ads” you can see the profile Google has for you, including a rough age range, your gender, and your interests. If you don’t agree with the profile Google has created for you, then you can change it to make it more (or less) accurate. I’m sure that every one of us would have received wrong calls from the unknown number at some point of time in our life. It will be really annoying to handle such calls when we are in the middle of a meeting or something. Sometimes we receive wrong calls from the same number again and again which will just waste our valuable time and moreover it will disturb our mind leading to some kind of mind stress. I hope that everyone want to know something about that unknown caller like his name, location etc. So in order to get those details of that unknown caller, you need the help of some reverse phone lookup service. This reverse method is exactly opposite to the regular lookup where you try to find the phone number of a person using his/her name. Most of us have a habit of keeping the phones on the desk while working. It’s easier to check notifications when the phone is within your reach all the time and you can have a look at notifications directly from the lock screen. But then, they can make you uncomfortable at times. Especially when you don’t want people to see your sensitive content on the lock screen. No one wants those things out in public and the best way would be to hide the notifications from the lock screen and make your smartphone private. Especially when you don’t want people to see your sensitive content on the lock screen. On Android Hiding the sensitive notification content option was introduced with Android Lollipop and was much required after Android adopted iPhone-like feature to pop these notifications directly on the lock screen. The phone asks you the question if you would like to hide content in notification when you set up your device initially. But if you missed out the settings there, it can be found under Sounds & notification settings. Here, scroll down to the Notification section and you will find an option that When device is locked. Just tap on it and select the option to Hide sensitive notification content. That’s all. Next time, you will get notification from the apps, but the content will be hidden on the lock screen. If you tap on the options App Notification, you will see a list of all the apps installed on the device. Here you can block any of the apps from notifying you or even make it a priority that brings it top of other notifications and makes sure you don’t miss out on them. On iPhone There are two ways in which you can control the content of the notification on an iPhone and the first one is to go through the settings of each individual app. For example, apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger give you the option to hide sensitive content from the lock screen. There are many apps that support this feature and you just need to look for the option. For messaging, you can just turn on the Do Not Disturb option for the particular thread. You can also mute the notifications from iPhone settings. Just look for the app you wish to disable the notification and turn off the Show on Lock screen option. The only downside is that the option if disabled from here you will not get any heads up on the lock screen. You will just get the notification sound and everything, along with the name of the app, will be hidden from the lock screen. Therefore, always look for the first option to mute notification content before choosing the built-in settings. Conclusion So that was how you can hide the notification content from apps on an Android and iPhone’s lock screen and save yourself from embarrassment. The option will not work on Android if you are using any 3rd party lock screen app, but there must be settings available in the app to manage that. If you need any help always remember that we are just a comment away. Source: http://www.techmzy.com.ng/2016/03/09/hide-sensitive-content-android-iphone-lock-screen/

#8: The food-themed cases Why not combine the two of life’s biggest pleasures: using a smartphone and looking at a fried egg? This is not a terrible idea, the dessert-themed cases have a certain charm, but some look outright disgusting. I do not want a spag bol smartphone case. It’s making me hungry… to use my phone. #9: The As-Seen-On-TV Hat It’s called the As-Seen-On-TV Hat, so it’s obviously terrible, but that’s not to say it doesn’t target a common issue: when it’s bright outside, seeing what’s on your smartphone display can be a challenge. It’s just that there must be a more elegant solution than placing your phone inside the As-Seen-On-TV Hat? I prefer normal caps. Which one do you think is the worst smartphone accessory ever? Source: http://www.techmzy.com.ng/2016/03/08/2907/

#6: The cuddly phone cushion (Hugvie) The Hugvie is the product of Japanese robot designer and Osaka University professor Hiroshi Ishiguro. Make a call and then insert your phone into the vaguely human-shaped pillow. While you talk to somebody you can hug the pillow to make it feel like they are really beside you. Motors inside the cushion will also simulate a heartbeat. It’s a bit weird. #7: The smartphone holder bra As a man, it’s hard for me to judge the strengths of this accessory. Perhaps it’s super useful, but most girls carry a bag, and the space under a person’s armpit is rarely a desirable position for, well, anything. As far as storing items in sensitive places goes, however, I concede it’s one of the safer options.
|
#4: The duckbill that stores headphones Why kill two birds with one stone when you can store a pair of headphones in one’s mouth? But this accessory isn’t just for storing headphones, the duckbill actually doubles up as a smartphone stand. The trouble is that a person rarely needs both a smartphone stand and a headphone storage container at the same time, meaning part of this accessory will often go unused. In addition, it makes little sense from a thematic point of view: the relationship between duckbills and headphones is virtually non-existent. #5: The ear case Wow that is not the gentleman’s real ear. This smartphone accessory turns your smartphone into a giant ear. This is brilliant for when you are speaking on the phone and want to make it look like you have a giant ear. The uphill struggle that the manufacturer is facing right now is that not a single living human has this desire.

One of the things I love most about smartphones is the wealth of customization options it offers. There are hundreds of handsets and you can get new themes, wallpapers and icons for each. I can really express myself through my smartphone, but below are some additions I would never want to make use of. These are the worst smartphone accessories ever i have seen online. #1: The hand case The case shaped like a hand looks awful but that’s not to say it couldn’t come in, ahem, handy. What if, you’ve just had a break-up and want to pretend you’re still holding onto your former lover while leaving her multiple, rambling voicemails? #2: The tiger paw screen wipe. If you don’t like seeing fingerprints on your smartphone screen then this little accessory could be just what you need. Pop it onto your finger and brush over your display: in just a few swipes, it will look good as new.

You have or recently bought a new device with only 16 GB of internal storage space and you thought as you made the worst decision ever, especially if your a heavy user. But don’t worry you can live with that, but it’s not going to easy. Here is my ultimate survival guide to getting by with minimal internal storage. Step: 1 Know your enemy Media files can take up vast amounts of storage space, and the higher the quality, the more it will take. High-resolution video is particularly vicious, but music and image files occupy vital space too. Apps and most HD games can vary wildly from a couple of megabytes up to around 8 GB if it’s Final Fantasy IX. FFIX is basically a blizzard in this scenario, and can really harm your survival chances. TIPS So firstly, you may wish to limit the quality or resolution of these files. Most downloading sites, will let you choose the quality of audio or video which is downloaded (and who can even hear the difference between 128 and 320 kbps when travelling anyway?) And most camera apps and sotware allow you to change the size and resolution of images. Remember, the lower the number of pixels, the less storage space they will require. Google Play generally makes it quite easy to understand how large files are (there is a size category on their store page) but you can find out for yourself too. Some UIs make it easy for you to view file sizes – if you go to Settings > Apps, you can see file sizes easily. Others may require you to go to download an additional file explorer such as ES File Explorer, which can be useful for helping you manage all kinds of files. I mentioned videos earlier, but the same goes for pictures. If you just want to view images on your phone or a low-resolution monitor, reduce the number of pixels that your phone snaps with. Step: 2 Effective item storage If your phone is a tundra, your microSD card is a backpack. This is your extra space for carrying what won’t fit in your coat pockets. You can assign your microSD Card to store certain kinds of files, such as images, videos, and even some app data. Just note that not all Android phones support them. You can do this periodically by going to Settings > Storage and tapping Transfer data to SD card (the process will be similar no matter which Android device you own). It’s a convenient one-tap solution. Alternatively, you can move the data of individual apps to your SD card by going to settings > apps > [insert app name] > move to SD card. Not all apps have this functionality, but it can save some precious megabytes. MicroSD cards don’t act like normal storage (though this will change on some devices with Android 6.0 Marshmallow). So before you buy a device, don’t go into it believing you can buy a 16 GB card, add it to your 16 GB internal memory and voila, a 32 GB device. Also, buy the right size for your needs. You’re most likely to use a microSD card for images, videos, and audio, but images can be held in the cloud (more on that below), and you may use an MP3 player for your music – if all you use the SD card for is to store a few videos, you probably don’t need a huge 128 GB model. Make sure you know what size SD card your phone can handle, too. The best way to find this out is to refer to your owner’s manual or look online. Final thoughts There’s no real secret here, just be sensible about how you use your device. Uninstall the apps you don’t need and assign automatic backups to files you want to keep (and remember to delete from your phone once you’re done). You should also know that a phone you want that comes with 16 GB of internal storage space doesn’t actually give you 16 GB of usable internal storage space. In reality, it’s more likely to come with between 11 and 12 GB. Do you have any tips for surviving the perilous conditions associated with low storage space? Let us know in the comments. For some people NFC stands for “nobody is using this” – but I’m about to change that. Most phones come with NFC (near field communication) capabilities but it’s usually the power-user who takes advantage of it, while the casual user is probably, I don’t know, milling around acting all casual-like. Anyway, here is a list of the best ways to use NFC. How to enable NFC Firstly, to use NFC you must have a device which supports NFC. If you go to Settings > Wireless & networks and you see NFC listed, then your device can use it. Enable it from the same menu. Important: For an NFC transfer to work, both your device and the sender/receiver’s device must have NFC enabled. How to use NFC To use NFC, just bring two NFC-enabled devices together, or select Android Beam in the Share options when sharing a file. If the devices become separated at some point it will ask you to bring them together again. It is safe to do so. USES 1. Send a phone number “Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, so here’s my number, via NFC” as the hit song goes. NFC is the simplest way to give a person your digits because you don’t actually have to type any digits. Just navigate to a contact in your address book (it can be your own or somebody else’s), then press your phone to the recipient’s and when your phone says “touch to beam”, tap the display. When is it useful? When you’re too lazy or drunk to type numbers. 2. Send a picture Snapchat isn’t the only way to quickly send somebody a lewd picture, you can also use NFC. Open the picture you wish to send in your preferred image viewer, then bring the phones together. When is it useful? When you’re next to somebody who wants a picture you have. 3. Send a document This can be a slightly tricky process. If you try to send a PDF document while viewing it, for example, it will more than likely beam the PDF viewing app, rather than the PDF file itself. So in this case, you must use Android Beam. Navigate to the file you want to share, tap the three tops (hamburger) icon, tap Share, then select Android Beam. You are now clear to bring the devices together. When is it useful? When you want to explain the Carcassonne “farmer scoring” rules and have a digital rulebook open on your device. 4. Direct someone to your new favorite app “Yo, that weather app looks great, what is it?” Just let me press my phone on yours and you’ll find out. Yes, with NFC you can direct Androiders straight to the Play Store to pick up your favorite apps or games. As long as you are using the app or game at the time, NFC will direct the recipient to the app’s Google Play page. When is it useful? When somebody sees you playing Alto’s Adventure and wants to get in on the action. Or If somebody is interested in an app you’re currently using, beam them to the Play Store. 5. Send directions There are many occasions when you are required to explain directions to somebody, but with NFC you don’t have to. Use Google Maps to create some directions, then slap your phone against another. Beautiful. When is it useful? Well, it’s not useful when you are directing someone to your location. They would already need to be next to you to complete the transfer… 6. Launch an app on someone else’s phone If you are using an app or playing a game that is already installed on someone else device, you can launch it for them. Say you are using Google Photos and your friend wants to check their photos too, but can’t find that app: tap the phones together and beam. When is it useful? Okay, the use cases for this are quite limited, it’s more for fun than anything else. Unless aperson has like a million apps and really can’t find the one they need and you can. 7. Make a payment NFC can also be used to make mobile payments. Download Android Pay via the link, add your credit or debit card details, then use it in any store that has a contactless payment terminal. When is it useful? When you’re out of hard cash. Final thoughts NFC is great for when you’re out of credit, out of 3G or LTE data, have no Wi-Fi or carrier signal, or don’t have a cable to do a PC transfer. It’s quick, easy, and bumping two phones together is fun. Source: http://www.techmzy.com.ng/2016/03/06/2825/

Researchers in the UK at Surrey NanoSystems created the darkest material on the planet with Vantablack, made from low-temperature carbon nanotubes. As the blackest of blacks ever, the material could absorb 99.96% of light that comes into contact with it, basically creating the appearance of empty void when looked at in broad daylight, back in 2014. Well, now Surrey NanoSystems is back with Vantablack 2, an even blacker black than the previous blackest black. The material is so dark that it can create the illusion of a flat surface even when it’s applied to something uneven, like wrinkled aluminum foil. Here’s a clip of the original Vantablack in action, notice how it appears as if there’s literally nothing there. The new Vantablack is even darker than this! Surrey NanoSystems says the new version is so dark, that its spectrometers can’t even measure how much the percentage of light being absorbed, something that’s never happened before. Their new clip shows a high power laser pointer moving across it, with little to no visible reflection. Now that there’s nothing more black than this new version of Vantablack, what exactly do you use it for? Well, scientists suggest several possible applications, namely for military or space uses, such as covering vehicles that need true stealth capabilities, or as a way to calibrate things like space telescopes and infrared scanners. Obviously the best use would be for a rock & roll album cover. More @ http://www.techmzy.com.ng/2016/03/06/2812/

Yes, you can increase your brain working power by doing some of these simple actions and simple behaviors. The brain continually needs an optimal supply of oxygen, blood flow, glucose, vitamins, anti-oxidants, mental exercise, and enough sleep. You should thus avoid excessive alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, toxins, stress, and unhealthy foods. You should also eat a balanced nutritional diet with minerals & nutrients. You should definitely get 7.5 – 9 hours of restful sleep every night since this is the only time the brain can “re-charge” & “repair” itself daily. You should most importantly engage in regular exercise as this has been scientifically proven to increase memory, focus, & thinking ability. You should also engage your mind in different mental challenges such as creative thinking, puzzles, learning, and meditation as this results in the brain making more nerve connections and strengthening memory & thinking power focus. You will also help your brain by taking multivitamins and ginko biloba as they sharpen the brain’s thinking ability. There are some more things one can do however this advice I have just given is the most simple and proven method. Remember, that one “miracle” pill will NOT result in making you smarter so realize that you have to work at doing the things recommended in this answer. Just as you have to lift weights to gain muscle, you have to do mental work to build brain power. these simple methods is based on proven scientific research. Good Luck to you and live healthy !! Have you ever wondered for as fast and powerful as computers have become today, can they still pose match for the human brain? Sure, a computer specifically programmed to perform singular task such as, say, playing chess can give a human a run for his or her money, but when we measure a computer against the entirety of what a human mind is capable of, it’s not really all that close. Over the past few years, scientists, in a variety of ways, have tried to get a super computer to mimic the complexity and raw processing power of the human brain. According to biologists, the human brain has approximately 90 billion nerve cells which are linked together by, quite literally, trillions of connections called synapses. Taken together, this system of elaborate connections within the brain provides “hundreds of trillions of different pathways that brain signals travel through.” In an effort to mimic this digitally, scientists a few years ago needed more than 82,000 processors running on one of the world’s fastest supercomputers to mimic just 1 second of a normal human’s brain activity. More recently, a research study found that the human brain can hold 10 times as much information as previously thought. All told, scientists now believe that the capacity of the human brain is about a petabyte. According to a Quora thread on the very issue shed some interesting light on the computational matchup between a computer and a human brain. Humans are spectacular at several things, including pattern recognition, language abilities, and creative thinking. Computers are rapidly improving at pattern recognition, but most programs still don’t do as well as children. A classic example of pattern recognition is face recognition. We are capable of recognizing faces in a variety of contexts. We can even recognize faces that have aged, or are disguised, or are obscured by facial hair. Computers are not nearly as good as humans at such tasks. So computers are more powerful [than] humans when it comes to executing simple step-by-step instructions. Humans are more powerful than computers at tasks that are not easily broken into simple steps. The fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are aimed at breaking down problems into ‘byte-sized’ chunks that are ‘digestible’ by computers. So for now computers are informational babies — they cannot ‘cook’ for themselves. More @ https://techmzy./2016/02/28/which-is-more-powerful-if-the-human-brain-is-compared-to-a-computer/

Is your Android smartphone giving you grief about running out of space, or you’re just curious as to what’s taking up room, don’t worry again because your at the right place. No matter how much space you have on your phone or tablet, you’ll eventually fill it up. If you’re running low on space, this app Disk space analyzer will show you what’s using up the all that storage. We’ve covered other disk utilities apps to find the space hogs, but this app has a nicer interface and modern touch gestures. Spreading lets you go deep into a folder to see which files are taking up the most space. Disk space analyzer color codes the files so you can find just your music or video files (and leave important system files alone). It even checks your internal storage and any SD cards, and lets you delete right from the app. Unfortunately, it won’t let you move files from internal storage to an SD card. The app comes in free ad-supported and pro versions. More @ https://techmzy./2016/02/27/this-wonderful-app-shows-you-whats-taking-up-space-on-your-android-smartphone/

WhatsApp will cease support for these mobile platforms such as all versions of BlackBerry OS (including BlackBerry 10), Nokia S40, Symbian S60, Android version 2.1 and 2.2, iOS 6 and Windows Phone 7.1 by the end of 2016 . WhatsApp noted in its official blog post ” we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms: BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10 Nokia S40 Nokia Symbian S60 Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 Windows Phone 7.1 While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.” “When we started WhatsApp in 2009, people’s use of mobile devices looked very different from today. The Apple App Store was only a few months old. About 70 percent of smartphones sold at the time had operating systems offered by BlackBerry and Nokia. Mobile operating systems offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft – which account for 99.5 percent of sales today – were on less than 25 percent of mobile devices sold at the time.” “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.” “This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.” This means those users who are using the affected mobile platforms, need to upgrade their devices to newer version of Android, iPhone or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 in order to continue using WhatsApp. The announcement comes just after WhatsApp turned seven years old. Launched in 2009, the cross-platform instant messaging service recently hit the milestone of one billion users. The company also promises to include more security features.
