Inferiority complex's a bi.t.ch. All in the name of validation / "acceptance"? smh I pity a lot of nigerian nay african women |
Nigeria's population which officially stands at 170million is huge. The fact that it is even expected to significantly increase in the next 50 years at least is even a lot more scary. Until government starts to plan for the future with this in mind, I am afraid power-generation in the country would continue to remain in the deficit. Heck! why does government invest solely on gas-powered plants and hydro plants? Do we think South Africa, China and to a significant extent, the US -countries who all share similar population-density figures with nigeria, are silly vis a vis significant dependence on coal-fired power plants for power generation (mostly morr than 90% of the time)? Yet unlike most of the these countries, Nigeria's coal deposits have been proven to have low sulphuric content and as such a lot more environment-friendly. Even Isreal has started to expand the usage of renewable bio-gas from COW DUNG in power-generation. Brazil, which is not even among the world's top 10 cassava producing nations uses ethanol (A BY-PRODUCT OF CASSAVA)-powered plants to generate electricity yet Nigeria, the highest producer and exporter of cassava in the world has 0 ethanol-power generating plant(s). Why does the "system" seldom allow folks who can THINK OUTSIDE THE GDAMN BOX get into policy making and implementation? A country with some of the brightest minds across diverse sectors admirably holding their own in their respective feilds both at home and in the diaspora. Smh indeed "Nigeria" is a paradox |
"the difference between the PDP and the APC is akin to the difference between six and half a dozen" ~ Femi Falana. Shameless bunch of goons (or is it "politicians"?); no political culture; no ideology; no values; no beliefs. Less than two weeks and this unprecedented gale of defecton? Only God knows what the situation would look like after two years. Change indeed! ....Unfortunately these guys will keep having a ball. Why? Because the youth are more interested in throwing tribal and jingoist slurs at each other. Folks fail to realise that its the same "divide and rule" tactics employed by the colonialists to create chaos/confusion among all of us so they can delay independence for as long as possible and prolong resource-exploitation in the guise of colonialism for as long as they can that the ruling class, the thieving politicians have employed so folks don't unite to condenm the actions of these people and in fact topple em for "real leaders". Buhari as a person may well be a good man and GENUINELY commited to the "Nigerian cause" but when I begin to look at the folks around him and these new jokers joining in droves, I shudder. Vraiment, c'est dommage |
Lol apparently godsday (or is it godswill?) orubebe's the biggest looser in the whole episode. |
Haah ...@JahzaraAde you should help a brother with suggestions on how to get around this |
JahzaraAde: Obviously he was only trying to humour her. In anycase if really the op's not taking this with a pinch of salt, then she may well be paranoid. @JahzaraAde. |
JahzaraAde:Smh. These are the kinda things you see with a drunkard at the helm. Interesting indeed! @JahzaraAde |
JahzaraAde:Not a problem Ms. ..trust your sessions went well ![]() D'accord, my thoughts exactly. ...and naa i am not a native speaker yet (hope to get there once i've got some time to do further intensive studies and all) J'ai appris à parler français au nigéria. j'ai fait une course intensif pour cinq mois a "Alliance Français" Abuja. Ça fait sept ans depuis quand j'étais là donc malheuresement, c'est dommage que je suis pas parfait ouncour aujord'hui - parce que je ne peux pas s' ameliorer toujours (il n'y a pas des gens qui parlent français a oú j'habite And marx ...lol you definitely cannot be a full adherent of his philosophies on religion [and the state: à la religion as a tool of control / "religion is the opium of the masses"] and a serious/practicing Christian at the same time. The two contradict each other. But you have a strong point in highlighting your disposition to being well informed and the role of "opposing views" in magnifying the awe you have for God. Reading up and being impacted by socialist philosophers is a double-edged sword though - you either develop a perception that fortifies your agreement with your faith (just like in your case) or you completely do away with "religious dogma" à la today's atheists and agnostics. Oh and there sure's hordes of stuff by the guy out there. However haven extensively gone through a good number of those his voluminous manuscripts in trying to understand the guy's propositions especially "Das Kapital", there sure are many ideologies of his that I do not particularly agree with ..but in general, I find his works interesting It is amazing that a medic would want to go through all the trouble (Ii.e with trying to study / understand marx and socialist philosophers at large re: religion) in what I assume is a completely unfamiliar / unrelated feild ...you're sure in the minority. Looks like your curiosity would do you a whole lot of good going forward. Be sure to keep it up! |
JahzaraAde:You have a point ...but i'm afraid no investor (predominantly your bourgeoisie/neo-burgeoise) -local or foreign would be willing to put money into a sector where in spite of huge potential, the government of the day cannot guarantee an enabling environment at the very BASIC level à la security, reasonable road network and relevant infrastructure among others. I believe if the basics are taken care of, loads of tour-operators /investors will flood the sector (c'est pourquoi je te dis que le gouvernement n'est pas interresé ..parce que sa responsibilité ici c'est plus important) ..who wan throway money ontop tour operating company when most of these tour sites dey for 'uncertain' remote zones? And marx? lol actually he was refering to the 'hypocritical' capitalist economic system and not necessarily the state ...anyways you seem to have an idea and thats great. Did you/do you read up marx? Most folks esp women I've come across either aren't interested one bit or totally find him boring lol but great guy I must say ..gee foresaw our today and has largely been spot-on thus far I would reckon |
JahzaraAde:sure did ...et d'accord, mais malheureusement, le gouvernement n'est pas interresé. smh |
was in tinapa a year ago ...but was disappointed. So dead in spite of all the hype and money spent. Was even reliably informed that the Cross river state government still has to service the loans used to put up the project. So unfortunate. Woulda loved to visit that gashaka-gumti park if not for security concerns. Its sad what boko haram has turned the north into. I tell you, its one beautiful region especially the adamawa-taraba stretch which i've plied on one or two occassions: the adamawa mountains and the mambilla-plateau mountains: beautiful! Arghh and enugu ..04 nwanne. From and grew up there .been to awhum and pine-forest though that was many years back. Awhum's sure got breathtaking scenes/views especially from the peak of the mountain and pine-forest? *nostalgia* won't ever forget those bash (party) times in the early 00's when man still dey learn ropes for high school. Nigeria is beautiful ...just that the government of the day (just like past successive governments) aint interested in the immense tourism potentials on ground and as such has consistently failed to facilitate an enabling environment for tourism to thrive. Vraiment, c'est dommage! |
The irony!focus7: |
colo gini? The famed drug route? Truth is colombia is one of those countries whose visas any sane person wouldn't want stamped on his/her passport unless extreemely necessary. Once you don go dat kind place finish, when you enter better place later like dem western countries, dem go grill you die for 'point of entry' immediately dem see for your passport say you don go the place -to be precise, dem go grill you like prospective/ probable drug mole. Lol I bn no even know say country people dey reach that area |
"I don’t care what promises the Igbos make to the APC today, the great majority of them are going to vote for the PDP because they are scared of the Yorubas. In my opinion, they want the Yorubas to experience the same genocide they have endured but the Yorubas are too smart for that. It is not going to happen" When a full-grown man conveniently lumps a whole group into his stereotypical assertions, one begins to wonder... If I'm not mistaken the primary aim of the article was to portray a prospective alliance between Igbos and yorubas as key to moving the nigerian space forward. Yet the author barely noted points on how this could be attained. Instead he allocates more than 70% of his write-up to history- primarily lacing the article with accusations and blame on the former group and its early post-independence leaders for the stagnant status-quo in today's nigeria. Making generalizations and almost entirely laying blames on a whole group via divisive statements such as the QUOTE MENTIONED ABOVE while on the other hand presenting APC as a viable alternative to the same group reeks of hypocrisy and instability (ie on the part of the author). Heck! how does Azikiwe's historical "political behavior" affect a full grown igbo man like me who has developed his own convictions/ political ideology over time? Ditto that of Odumegwu Ojukwu or whoever Tbh Nigerian partisan politics is primarily a game of interests hence the frequent cross abi jump carpeting. No philosophy; No ideological base; No genuine plans; nothing. They may issue statements/attack each other on the media but backstage they are "paddies of life", wine & dine together; share contracts togerther; in fact marry each other irrespective of not just political differences but also tribal and religious. Thus it is laughable that the author goes on to present APC as an alternative at the end. Same party who just like the PDP clearly have no plans. PDP no doubt is mediocre but I'm disappointed each time APC reacts to national issues/PDP's failures ...criticism upon criticism, bad blood everywhr; NO SOLUTION ..they nevr do. So how do you convince folks who are neither PDP nor APC to buy into your beleifs? Fact is, as Femi Falana put it; "the difference btw the APC and the PDP is like the difference btw 6 and half a dozen". I look forward to a Nigeria where provision is made for INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES in the constitution. That is whr the solution to our problems -which PRIMARILY are the divisive kleptomaniancs (across all the tribes/religions) and not ethnic/religious distrust as the author has largely portrayed, start from. |
Wow senior man 'I greet you'. Also a fedi alumnus (boarder, unity house) but left much later than you did -8yrs ago prescisely. I hereby second your motion/request (oga spyder880 take note abeg) as I do not stay in enugu as well. kropelgrada: |

You've said it all @topic i really do not understand whats with all this 'mumuish' support/ justification for GEJ by my SE people. Bar the haphazardly done joke called the akanu ibiam intl airport, which of jonathan's 2011 promises for the SE during that 2011 PDP rally at the Azikiwe stadium in Enugu have been fulfilled? where's the coal-powered plant in Enugu? where's the 2nd niger bridge (the famed gimmick which is now being consistently used to fool SE folks during election campaigns by successive leaders)? This particular death trap called a federal highway has been comatose since around 06/07. Ditto the Enugu -PH road. Heck I cannot even list up to 3 major projects the GEJ-led admin has delivered to warrant the level of support he gets from the region. Why e be say na we carry this man matter for head pass? Why we nor fit task this man on his hordes of failed promises as it concerns the region? Whats the justification of a so-called SE voter bloc for pdp/jonathan? smh berem: |
My signature says it all. C'est dommage! |
Which nigerian men? Abeg thick girls do it for me anyday ..neither 'orobo-esque' (kai mbanu how you go fit de flip am with ease? ) nor bonga fish-like (wetin man go hol onto? ) |
While our first generation leaders successfully fought for and gained independence for the country, I do not regard any one of them a hero -primarily for one reason viz: SOWING THE SEEDS OF ETHNO-RELIGOUS/ REGIONAL DISCORD in the polity immediately they took over from the colonialists. The result of that singular act, we are still grappling with today -politics of nepotism, regionalism etc. No ideology, no philosophy, no 'issues'-based discourse ...and I am talking of the ahmadu bellos, the azikiwes, the awolowos of this world. Anyway my heroes in no particular order include: Dora Akunyili: no need to mention why Oluwole Akinwande Soyinka: not just for his acheivements and worldwide acclaim in literature but also for being a consistent fighter and beleiver in social justice through the years. Below are other folks who share a similar feat especially vis a vis fighting social injustice Chinualumogu Achebe Gani Fawehinmi Olisa Agbakoba Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu Mallam Aminu Kano Femi Falana Fela Anikulapo Kuti 'Ebami eda' |
Not taking away the fact that these comparatively modern malls and hotels are a good development, but I, and I believe millions of SE folks am a lot more keen on a region where our governors can come together and GENUINELY work towards an all-encompassing regional industrialization and integration plan. We have the human resources to drive this -both within the region and in the diaspora ..all we need are visionary leaders who not only have the interests of their respective states but that of the region at heart. The last SE Economic Forum which had in attendance govt officials, captains of industry, SE professionals both in naija and the diaspora etc -held two or three years ago in Enugu threw up brilliant ideas on "what to do" and actually conceived a brilliant road-map on "how to go about it". Sadly fast-forward a few years later, nothing has been done. Prolly all down the drain as usual. Now this is our folly as a people and in fact as a country (ie so so talk talk brilliant idea everywhr yet implementation na anoda tori altogether). We must leverage on our strengths in order to make up for weakenesses. So many areas to look into but I'd highlight that of "Power" -the country's single biggest challenge right now as it concerns the SE for instance. We can nevr reach our potentials re: industrialization w/o reliable power. IT IS TIME TO STOP HOPING ON FG TO FIX THIS as it is now clear that the possibility of such happening especially in the near future is 0. SE govs must synergise in finding/attracting competent investors of excellent repute. You can then contract them under a PPP arrangement to - construct a coal-fired plant in enugu to not only serve immediate environs but also industrial hubs within a few kilometers -ie Onitcha and Nnewi which are just bout 2hours away as a readily available alternative to the unreliable national power grid. Once we can solve this problem, I bet they'd be a positive chain-effect. - construct a green energy producing plant at Aba (powered by the high volume of biodegradable waste generated in that densely populated city every day) to serve that axis -again as an alternative to the unreliable natl grid. see as the first two repondents been 'confidently' give OP ogbonge replies. Lol na dis kind thing de make oyinbo insist on IELTS and TOEFL for naija prospective students/ jobseekers if dem wan port. Anyhow oyinbo language na Eliza get am so na to de murder am de go sure pass my people (mk ona check am) -just as we de do steady for naija. I'll rather perfect my local language and probably pidgin (the official murdered version of 'Anglais' ) |
Wow beautiful thread. Welldone mr spyder and the relevant mods for keeping this going. Chime has done very well and as Nwadiana Enugu, I am both very impressed with and proud of him ...each time I get into 04 I see something new here and there. Its funny how he's among the top 5 best performing governors if not the best (especially given the comparatively paltry monthly fed allocation the state receives as well as a comparatively low IGR portfolio) yet you'll NEVER find him blowing his trumpets on the media or anywhr. Silent acheiver -much unlike his immediate predecessor, the nkanu fraudster who bled our beloved state to the bone while publicizing his numerous white elephant fraudulent projects constantly. I remember say that time we no hear word for am; 'ebe-ano' this, 'to god be the glory' that + the quartered thugs at presidential with their numerous extra-judicial killing of govt critics/opponents. Substandard Marlum construction company and their shabby projects nko? Smh ...we been really hear am. To be honest if I had my way I'd install Chime for yet another term. What a visionary! One hopes the next governor will build on the SOLID FOUNDATION he has laid and take 04 to the next level.. Enugu akwulugo! Enugu mma mma nu! |
Absolute gibberish! What have you gained from the fact that Ihejirika was COAS? What impact did that make in your life as a South Easterner? ...and I'm appalled that you foolishly wrote down Enugu-PH road as part of what GEJ did for the SE -same horrible road I plied the previous week. If I may ask, when last did you ply that road (that's if you've even plied the full the length before)? And 2nd niger bridge? Lol why you wan exonerate the guy? So because other govts failed us on the project, his slow-pace on executing it does not matter? He used it to campaign in 2011 and all of a sudden it is now that elections are approaching that work seems to have genuinely commenced/picked up pace there. Yet another project with a similar scale in the North Central -Oweto bridge has been progressing at a faster pace. Given his antecedents (since 2011 when he first campaigned with the 2nd niger bridge project) re: commitment to the project, what is the guarantee that it will finally be completed if he is given another chance? What do you people gain from propaganda? See if ona keep praising this man instead of tasking him on his failed promises he would not take the region seriously knowing fully well that otere nnu, otere azu ona go still vote am in. If we give GEJ a pass mark (with reference to the SE) primarily based on the fact that previous governments have done little or nothing for the region as you have primarily highlighted in your reply then we'r doomed; what it means is that he'll keep doing "little" provided whatever he does surpases what previous govts did -since that seems to impress you and your ilk as your reply has largely portrayed. Ndi otimkpu. Nodunu ebe anwa tibe "GEJ till 2019" ..Unu ajukwana ndi na achi unu ajuju gbasatara nkwa ha na ekwe/ ha kwere na oge gara aga. Keep on celebrating mediocrity. AroOkigbo: . |
This is sad. Full-blown totalitarianism in display. Btw my Enugu and in extension SE people, what's with this overwhelming GEJ obsession? Why e be say na SE carry this man matter for head pass? Nobody's asking questions anymore ... yet Enugu/PH expressway remains a mess; ditto Enugu/Onitsha. Wetin we don really gain from FG? Why are we not looking into the reasons why the joke called akanu ibiam intl airport was hap-hazardly done? Why are we comfy with settling for less? Where is the coal-powered power plant he promised us during the 2011 pdp rally at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium? Ditto the so called 2nd niger bridge -which sadly successive govts hv used to fool my people for votes over the years. As an enugu man, I am impressed with chime and in fact will vote him in again if the constitution made any provision for such. But jonathan? ..big question mark* Quit the blind "GEJ till 2019" banters and channel these efforts towards tasking these leaders my people. If they know you'll vote them in irrespective of performance due to perceived "voter strongholds", empty promises and mediocrity will continue to be the order of the day |
![]() @topic: what else do you expect on a faceless forum? Folks who take nairaland especially with regards hooking up/prospective romancing seriously are a joke. Girls don finish 'out there' or for streets ni? Boys go just de fall hand de go. Smh serves her(his) 'toasters' right acidosisTM: |
as 'smiling namadi' will assert, "...in line with the president's transformation agenda". Jokers! Sincerely its bout time the 'independent candidate' system is introduced to the nigerian electoral process so that reasonable candidates who shy away due to nigerian-styled partisan politics shenaningans can vie directly and folks who re convinced on what they have to offer can vote em in. Hahaha you sure have been to gh before or have gh friends. Lol I can relate dannyville2: Feck offOP you should be more interested in promoting twi or ashanti or whichever one it is you speak. How many OBE awards Eliza don confer on ghanaians in appreceiation for such 'perfect accent'? It is a pity this is something the OP is proud to flaunt while african languages stay steady going extinct including many in his country. Smh africa(ns) |

Be yourself, dey confident and dey spontenous ..thatsall you go score goals tire unless say na so so winsh you de follow. |
your leaders and influential folks would rather buy the latest toyota SUVs to 'swim through' all that on a daily. Fact is the lagos state government does not have any excuse whatsoever for the deplorable state of affairs re: that road and many other similar roads in the state. Notwithstanding the peculiar terrain, asides huge federal monthly allocation (NB Lagos is a top 5 earner in this regard), the state/relevant local govt rakes in millions via the toll gates and an optimally-structured taxation system on ground. Generally i beleive that given the amount of revenue (IGR and Fed allocation) BRF controls, his performance has been largely average if not below par. Folks who marvel at his 'great performance' erroneously fail to put the former (ie available funds) into context. |
Obviously he was only trying to humour her. In anycase if really the op's not taking this with a pinch of salt, then she may well be paranoid. @JahzaraAde.
