Demdem:
I perfectly understand ur position and what u are trying to prevent. It's honourable however I feel u erred as regards banning him. There was absolutely no reasons for that. The op asked a legitimate question on that thread which is strange to me because av always known him to be daft.
Ur deleting the thread surely saved u some hassles because warlords will bombard such threads viciously. However it shouldn't have led to a ban. Av read NL rules and I don't seem to get my hands on any rule he broke. My opinion though.
Actually the ban was to hold him from continuing with the thread and starting a similar one. I was going to unban him and Van bonattel after few hours but Rossike is yet to be calmed. He is still busy sending me PM loaded with insults since yesterday till now. I will unban him as soon as he is calmed.

Thanks.

Rossikk: You deserve every insult you get. Our leaders are insulted every day here for their failures. Even our president is called all sorts of names while you accept it. Are you saying you're bigger than the president? You are a "leader" on NL by virtue of your position as a mod, so you can be attacked for your actions. You are not God. You are not a king. You messed up and you deserve to be inundated with outraged responses. Understand? Seun, is he capable of understanding? Aptitude tests pls!
So, I am now a Public Leader/Figure? I accept the honor. But please still check the rules of Nairaland which you agreed to keep when you registered. It is against the rules to insult posters/moderators. Different from opinion and "insults" against public figures.

Thank you.

Eko Ile: Is this any different from what is going on in the thread bellow right under your nose and watch on the front page?

Your sanctimonious concerns rings very hollow and selective still.

Prudence and consistency is one of the many god attributes of a good MOD.
I agree with you. But trust me, its a tough call trying to maintain that consistency balance between sanity and free for all fights. Often times like my elders used to say, its a case of sugar mixed with farts in one's mouth, you dont want to lose the sugar by spiting out fart and you dont want fart in your system by swallowing sugar. So discretion/compromise of what is most important at any giving time will be used.

Removing the link you gave will amount to another trouble since the similar one about Achebe was allowed. But I removed the one of Rosiki because It will only give birth birth to more trouble threads.

Hard, but we are trying our best to maintain that balance by removing trouble buds before they grow.

Rossikk: You are a pathetic excuse for an educated person. In fact I doubt you passed through the four walls of a university to utter this gibberish here. Who the hell are you to determine what constitutes the "right type of question to ask" about Ojukwu or the civil war? I mean is Seun reading this illiterate stuff I'm reading here? Anyway, thanks for exposing yourself here. Now formers can all see the shocking level of your intelligence, together with your partner.
You are educated yet you dont know how to be civil in your conversation and control your emotions by making statements without insults. Actually am glad I remove your thread cos you obviously dont have the temperament to handle such discussion you raised.

Slow down on the insults and name calling, they are against the rules, that I ignore them till now doesnt mean they are acceptable.
I think it is safe to say that 80% of the moderators on the forum are fu...cking moro..ns and idio..ts!
Sections like romance, sexuality and celebrities have fu..cking donuts moderating them ....
Only a handful of them have a brain up there .... the rest are power drunk dossers!!!
The rate at which people complain about moderating and moderators on this forum is alarming ....
The standard and quality of this forum has dropped immensely .... Its a pity

To any moderator reading, i dont care .. Ban me all you want .. I won't create a new account and i won't beg or retract my claims!
No you do not deserve a ban but education if your assessment of bad moderators is by the level of complaints against them. Moderators remove offensive, insultive posts/threads of trolls, spammers and trouble makers everyday, and many times ban them and you expect such posters not to whine and complain? Any moderator without complaint is either moderating an inactive section or not doing his/her job well. No one will moderate a public forum like Nairaland and sections like Politics and Romance you mentioned and be spared of criticism and attacks.

Freedom of expression should be used responsibly, not to insult, cause trouble or pursue a purposeless agenda. No one says Ojukwu and Awolowo cannot be discussed, but on relevant subject with the purpose of sharing opinions and education, not with the aim of causing divisions and troubles. If we allow such threads and meaningless fighting/insults running to 10-20 pages, some of you will open a thread on how Nairaland is promoting tribaslism and moderators doing nothing about it.

Moderators have rules guiding their conducts and all their actions are logged and supervised by supermoderators and Admin.

@ 9ja_I_hail

Two wrongs do not make a right. He should have complained/reported the thread instead of toeing the same line.

7842I: ROSSIKE opened his thread since morning and it was allowed to run until van bonattel opened a rival thread before you hastily closed the second thread before claiming you just saw the thread by ROSSIKE. Sorry mod, but I still think you are a bigot, apologies if you think am wrong.
I dont live online, moreso on a festive weekend. Odunnu reported the one about Awolowo, got the message alert on my phone and acted on it. I didn't see the one about Ojukwu till Berem reported it here, cos no one reported it before now. Not everyone is interested in all these tribalism stuffs, certainly not me.

Your apology is accepted.
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by OAM4J(op): 7:58pm On Mar 30, 2013
^Both ROSSIKE and Van bonattel were banned for fanning tribalism flame.
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by OAM4J(op): 7:50pm On Mar 30, 2013
^Just seeing the thread. I have removed it. I removed the other one cos someone reported it too.

Not all threads about Awolowo and Ojukwu will be removed, but threads created with the sole purpose of fanning tribalism flame
