@sarmy, Tithing should really not be based on what people have turned it into. We all have our persuasions here and there about this subject; but at the end of the day, we know that tithing did not originate with the Law, nor does the Law abrogate what it did not originate. The beautiful thing about any type of giving in the NT is that no one is forced to give anything. As the heart is willing, so we can find grace to do so.
God bless you my brither! |
The amazing thing is that even Levi paid tithes to Melchizedek without even the LAW. Does that not ring a bell to us? Let's not be put off by what men have argued back and forth to turn tithing into. The one beautiful thing we see is that in the NT, God does not "command" or "force" or "cajole" anyone to tithe. If the heart is willing, He "receives" them from the tither who knows indeed that tithing preceded the Law. It was by faith Abraham was moved to see something in his day that many of us take for granted, even though we often read Hebrews 7:8. Regards.
I will like to know where the highlighted qoute of yours is in the bible. |
Ahh - that's where the problem is. Abraham was not under the Law, but he gave tithes to Melchizedek. What Law was binding on Abraham to give tithes of all? That is often the question we all miss when we assume the wrong inference about that chapter in Hebrews. @pilgrim 1 The tithes Abraham gave was a tithe of booty - spoils of war, it was not his income. And he did not even keep the rest for himself, plus there was nowhere again in the bible that he paid it after that. |
Psalm 126.1 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion we were like them that dream. This is one of my favourite scriptures and it has kept me going, for i know that God always turn the captivity of his people. No matter what seems like a difficult moment it doesn't last always. hope in God and you will see a turning. Anybody want to share his or her favourite scripture? |

The bible says" let everything be done decently and in order". I dont see anything decent in what we see on TV as "falling under anointing" My question is what happens after getting up from the fall are those people better off? |

Tithes must be paid only in Jerusalem where the temple is, and it must only be given to a priest of the line of Aaron. If you can go to Jerusalem and you can locate any priest in the line of Aaron, why not? And of cause this is the only time you sell your produce and use the money to buy whatever you desire. Check this! Deut. 12:6, 7, 11, 12, 17, 18, "And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your TITHES, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flock. And there, ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee. Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your TITHES, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord. And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, YE, and your SONS and your DAUGHTERS, and your MENSERVANTS, and your MAIDSERVANTS, and the LEVITE that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you. You may not eat within thy gates the TITHE of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of the flocks, nor any of thy vows which thou vow, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of your hand: But YOU MUST EAT THEM before the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, " |

This is supposed to be an important issue but you have made it so ambiguous that it has lost its relevance. If you want to talk about the Niger bridge, then talk about the Niger bridge ,if you want to talk about MASSOB talk about MASSOB, if you wan to talk about Igbo presidency then talk about it and if you want to talk about marginalization talk about it. Your choice of words: 1.(this illiterate and wicked Hausa/Yoruba government )- an illiterate is one who could not read or write and one of the tribes you referred to as illiterate own this site. 2.(Until MASSOB start to carry arms )- are you happy with what they were doing by chasing fellow igbos out of their houses and forcefully occupying them or the harassment on fellow igbos before they were put under check? 3.(This is why i still believe that only, and i repeat, only an Igbo president will take bold steps )- presidents are supposed to be elected, you know how difficult it always is for igbos to step down for one candidate to clearly emerge. 4.(these crooks that we are caged in the same country with)- only animals live in cage and i don't believe that you are one ? 5.(No good roads, no international airport, no sea port, )- what is the governor doing about the local roads that are not motorable and the rate of filth on the streets of onitsha? let's borrow a leaf from Cross River and Akwa Ibom that is developing their own states to world class standard. 6.(and now, a bridge that will soon collapse and kill no other people than Igbo sons and daughters.)- the bridge is used by people of all tribes daily. Let's be mindful of what w say and how we talk about our country outsiders will not come and develop it for us. we have no other country to go . East or West home is the best. I've travelled to not less than 18 countries around the world, Nigeria is still the one i love. Nigerians are intelligent people, Nigerians are hardworking people and Nigeria is a place to be proud of. don't follow the western media to pull down your own country. Nigeria is blessed. Happy independence! |
