The international DL is just a translation of your drivers license.

It becomes invalid once your drivers license expires.

https://internationaldrivingpermit.org/frequently-asked-questions/

If your drivers license has less than 30 days validity, you can go for its renewal and make an arrangement for someone to pick up for you and send.

Thanks

Hello ALL
Please landed seniors and those with the knowledge, would an international DL suffice for the normal DL in Calgary? My normal DL is expiring soon and i dont think i'ld be able to get it reissued before leaving because of time constraints.
I hear the international DL take 2weeks to process, should i go for it or just present my expired DL?

You mean food items that are not allowed.

All airlines have things they do not allow plus airport security also check things like Palm oil and all...

So if you are worried about whats not allowed don't take them.

But that should be the least of your worries

Pls how did you pay for your fare, was it by online transfer or across d counter bank deposit?

Egypt Air is not as bad as people make it.

LOS to CAI usually just basic but good for the price.

Its no loss as its cheaper as you said.

Thx for the review.

‘Darling, which night do you remember as being the most tensed night for you in the past couple of years?’. ‘Tonight’, she responded. I smiled as she had barely spoken my mind. It was the night before the day our lives would change forever.

Pls i'ld like to know how you went about paying for your flight ticket with egypt air, was it online or at any of their local office.thx

I got ppr this morning guys. I'm coming back with my story.
AOR 16TH OCT 2018
PPR 12TH APRIL 2019
Visa office Accra

When life throws you a curve ball you swing for the fences

Let me start by saying I have been on this thread long enough to see same questions and answers repeated a thousand times over. Please my people, especially those just stumbling on the thread, page one (1) is a gold mine of information, reading and researching yourself cannot be over emphasized. Page 1 and most especially the IRCC webpage should be your trusted source of info as NO TWO applications are same. I commend those who take out their time to populate page 1…..kudos
Now to my story the includes spraining my ankle and ripping my jeans trouser falling down a flight of stairs after ending a reading session with my dear wife preparing for IELTS. See I’m a big tall guy so you can imagine how both traumatic it was for me and hilarious it would have been for my wife hearing a loud thumb then turning around and seeing me on the floor struggling to get on my feet. I had my ankle rapped with bandage for 1 week and I was limping for 2weeks.
Thinking of it now I will take the ripped jeans with me to Canada as a memento of what it cost me to get to the land of maple syrup.
There’s also the incident of armed robbers encountered on the highway on our way back from Lagos after we had our medicals. The incident was so traumatic for me that I have since dreaded the thought of us getting back on the road together as a family. No man wants to see his family in such vulnerable situation BUT I thank God Almighty and the driver on that day.
It also fills me with joy today as I notice heavy police presence on the same stretch of road were this ugly incident happened travelling to and from Lagos to submit out passports for transmission to Accra. The next time we travel that road it would be FOR GOOD.
So I’m one of those whose UK dreams and promises were never fulfilled. After the experience of the UK the thought of going back to the western world was a big NO! NO!, the UK scared me deep. But alas the Master’s degree earned helped garner enough points towards express entry.
The decision to finally move or give express entry a try came after one of the numerous usual lengthy conversations with my younger brother about Canada in November 2017. The guy just wouldn’t let me rest, that fateful day he called I put the phone speakers on so my wife could listen in on the conversation and I guess that was what did the trick because after the call ended all my wife said was “ OYA WHERE DO WE START FROM” and we haven’t looked back since.

My pride was a bit hurt because after my fall and level of preparedness I thought I was going to score more than I did especially in listening as I was acing the practice test on YouTube. Kudos to wifey who did tremendously well despite her very busy work schedule.

ECA (WES AND MCC)
For me it was a breeze because of my UK degree I used WES. This was in the days before they needed WAEC before assessment can be done. For my madam who is a medical practitioner and studied local, it was HELL!!! NASU was on strike for 3monhs in early 2018, this cost us 5points as my wife who is our PA had a birthday before we could get her degree evaluated and enter the pool. Did I also mention we paid “like white” to get her documents verified after it was sent back by MCC for verification. Not too long after back door payment was made, I think a week, NASU called off their strike. Both educational credential assessments were masters and professional degree respectively.

PCC
Mine was both a Nigerian and UK PCC, and as usual no stress getting the UK PCC. We didn’t use the ASP/ inspector Mushood that people on NL run to and we did ours for about 3k if my memory serves me right. My UK PCC was gotten in December 2017 but was used for the ITA gotten in October 2018. It was still very much valid since I had not gone back to the UK since it was issued.

POF
This comprised of both personal saving and a cash gift from both father and father in-law. Our POF was in Fixed-term deposits. So we include 6 months SOA, Letter of introduction, letter of non-indebtedness and the notorised gift deeds and affidavits. A couple of weeks after AOR I noticed a typo in the gift deed; I quickly corrected this and raised a CSE with the corrected deeds. For a long time this gave me a headache as I was worried it could affect our app.

OTHERS
I included schedule A form upfront as madam has a previous visa refusal (I was hoping this move would help us avoid London or Accra visa office), we claimed sibling points (we updated our profile few days after my sister in-law had gained entry into Canada and gotten her COPR signed at the point of entry), I included all the relevant doc requested to claim these points (15points) and also pictures of my wife and her sister from when they were toddlers to present age).

THE WAIT
CHISUS!!!!!
I must have checked my profile 7856781239 times, I kid you not. I found out our file was at AVO on the 18th February 2019 and mehn!! there are no words to describe the sinking feeling. That period was the most depressed I must have felt during this process. For days I couldn’t even describe to my wife the implications of our file being in AVO. I don’t know what London or Kiev feels like but AVO I can’t wish on anyone.
So in the days after knowing our file was at AVO I uninstalled ALL travel and related apps on my phone, put away all research that has been done concerning Canada, stopped coming on Nairaland bla bla bla , I just felt we were in it for the LONG HAUL. I was lucky enough to be included in AVO WhatsApp group by a lovely soul (KORY I THANK YOU) who noticed my cry out in the OCTOBER AOR WhatsApp group I was part of.
The guys in the AVO group are a band of brothers, I have met some lovely people in that group: zeus, chiddy, kory, persy et al; ALL of you guys are blessed and are a pillar of support your golden mail is on the way. Things got so desperate at AVO we raised and signed petitions, sent tweets to Canada’s minister of immigration and I guess the straw that finally broke the camel’s back was our numerous praise and worship sessions. In the first 2 weeks of april we got close to 40PPRs and it's still raining.

So for those who would someday find their app in AVO here’s the theory and it seems true:
AVO works with/within a window, some say it’s from DECEMBER TO MARCH, other says JANUARY TO APRIL which ever one it is if your file gets to them after this window, well you just need to take a chill pill, you MIGHT not get your PPR till the following year. This year they must have opened the window late because we didn’t get the deluge of PPRs till April when we all thought it was going to be MARCH. May, June and JULY 2018 AOR still waiting for PPR, for those that have been released we can’t thank God enough, it has ended in praise.
With other VO you wake up to see the golden mail, but with AVO you spend the whole day checking and waiting for the mail to drop. I was at my mechanic when I checked to see the golden mail staring back at me and as I made calls to my wife and then my mum I became a baby again without a care in the world who was watching……it is/was a good feeling….trust me.
