“Whatever mileage you get in the sea, according to the United Nations Law of the sea, is a measure of the land mass that you have; that is what gives you the mileage into the sea…and the land mass of this country, that gives that long 200 nautical miles or more into the ocean, is because of that 72% of the land mass of this country, which is the North.”
This is very correct. The more reason the 13% derivation should be scrapped. |

pazienza: You don't kill a corpse you will also contribute for its burial, it's counterproductive.
Are you now saying we have Igbos in SE only? If you rush to help scrap the 13% derivation, you affect the Igbo speaking communities in Rivers and Delta that have been benefiting from it.
You wouldn't be helping Asaba as a capital city with Ifeanyi Okowa as a governor and PH as a city with Wike as a governor, if you start campaigning for a cause that will result in decreased fund for them to develop those two cities Ndiigbo have big presence in.
The only way SE will be seen campaigning against 13% dederivation is if we have finally accepted the falsehood that Igboland started and ended in SE. SE Ndiigbo wouldn't be endearing ourselves before our Delta and Rivers Igbos who are well represented in Ohanaeze, if we are seen championing for a cause that will rob them of the proceeds from their crude oil in this harsh economic climate. We will only end up alienating them further, and this will not be helpful in our long term vision of uniting all Igbo speaking people under one region. I disagree. Let the anomaly be corrected so that when we talk of secession, no one calls us names no more. The pain will be more with them than with us. Political correctness has to end. This is the area the SW beat us hands down. Can you explain the statement that there's no Igbo in the SS? Who has challenged it? |
Politics › Bugaje Says Nigeria's Crude Oil Belongs To The North by Obiagu1(op): 1:39pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
One of the lead speakers at the Northern Leaders’ Conference, Usman Bugaje, has raised a controversial issue on the ownership of Nigeria’s crude oil domiciled majorly in the Niger Delta region. According to him, it is wrong for any state to claim that it is oil producing because 72% of the total land mass in the country belonged to the North and that by the United Nation’s law; it is only the North that actually has the right to claim ownership. Dr. Bugaje, in his presentation, insisted that “there are no oil producing states.” He argued that “the only oil producing state is the Nigerian state itself.” He explained, “Whatever mileage you get in the sea, according to the United Nations Law of the sea, is a measure of the land mass that you have; that is what gives you the mileage into the sea…and the land mass of this country, that gives that long 200 nautical miles or more into the ocean, is because of that 72% of the land mass of this country, which is the North.”To buttress his argument, Dr. Bugaje also said, “The investment came from the Nigerian state and the territory belongs to the Nigerian state.” He further maintained, “What they claim is the off shore oil is actually the oil of the North” contending that “we should stop using these terms that have no sense at all. There are no oil producing states.” http://www.channelstv.com/2014/03/11/bugaje-says-nigerias-crude-oil-belongs-to-the-north/?fb_action_ids=10205178164830228&fb_action_types=og.comments&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B465828703548670%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.comments%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D |

Ugomba: Its not just Ijaws. South South is a hotbed of tribes and you need to be alert to defend ur territory. Our Anioma land is our land and no "green snakes in green field" can dare their rubbish on our territories. They are now using the media to remove you from the map and by so doing claim your land. I think fighting back through the same media would be appropriate. |
Politics › Re: The South South And The Niger Delta People's Thread by Obiagu1(m): 1:08pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
Ugomba: who said so? Which tribe in SS Here can challenge we Aniomas in Achievements? The raw truth is that Ijaw will colonize the ND Republic. I know their behaviour very well. It's high time you Igbos in the SS pushed back on Ijaw expansionism. You guys can't allow that to keep going on. Ijaws are merely 3 million people. One Ijaw had the effrontery to go on a national daily and categorically state that there are no Igbos in the SS. I think this is a joke taken too far. You guys should be at the forefront in denouncing Niger Delta or whatever the Ijaw uses in their schemes. Another one here said they would drive Oyigbo people back to Abia State thinking they have completely confused Ikwerre people with only Oyigbo as an obstacle to claim Rivers State as Ijaw territory. |

pazienza: Lol! Nnaa cool down, we need not team up with anyone to punish them, remember we can't punish them without equally punishing Igbo speaking groups like Oyigbo, Anioma and Egbema. They all benefit from the crude oil derivation thingy.
Water will find their level on their own. If Biafra tarries and this current crude oil price continues or even deteriorate further, the allocation going to the North will be drastically reduced, and it will be only a matter of time before they seek for the reduction of the current 13% derivation to enable them get more allocation.
When that time comes, we wouldn't fight anyone, we would just go with the flow of the majority, as we see that there is no gain standing with a minority, doing so will only reduce you to a minority status.
Don't fight it, let it flow. I maintain that the 13% derivation be scrapped. This will be in line with the wishes of Northerners that own the oil. Political correctness by the Igbo has to stop! We should not be helpful to a bunch of common house thieves because they are the worst backstabers in Nigeria. What benefits the SE should be our driving principle. We MUST try and maximise the gains of 'awa oyel' until it runs dry. |

While the ND brings its natural resources to the table, the West brings Nigeria's industrial, manufacturing, intellectual, economic, financial and viable ports and businesses to the table. The North brings agriculture, textiles, lands for expansion in the future to Nigeria. What do Ibos bring except fraud and crime and terrorism Biafra?? Ibos are so pained and it must pain them more when although all Nigeria know they have dug themselves into a hole, we just continue our life while they keep wailing like slaves and animals that they are! Igbo are prepared for good and bad, stay in Nigeria and still be dominant. Leave Nigeria, we'll still be overachievers. One thing that is inevitable is hunger in Ijawland 45 years from now. |

Add that to the fact that the Atlantic is moving up towards us and will eat up their current few lands.
They are in for it, if they don't change their attitude. They won't be dealing with fragmented Igbo groups like Ndokis and Ikwerres like they did in the past, they will be dealing with a very hostile and enraged Igbo nation hell bent to revenge and righting wrongs done to us.
