NAUG members, I know of some free useful websites that can help you with CV writing and interview skills so you can be gainfully employed sooner rather than later. Go online now and check out http://www.jarushub.com/ and http://www.theafricanrecruiter.com/.

Best of luck!

I am looking to advance my career and looking for African blogs that I can refer to from time to time. Unfortunately, the ones I am coming across are not focused on the African market. I recently came across The African Recruiter (www.theafricanrecruiter.com), it is new, but very good. Does any one know of smililar blogs or websites out there? Thanks

Career / Career Advancement: Which African Blogs Are Useful? by Obianuju123: 2:09am On Oct 19, 2013
I have seen a million and one recruitment and career blogs, many with fancy names, but very poor content. It seems there is so much information about careers, jobs, employment etc out there, but it is difficult for me and I am sure for some of you to find the most useful ones.

Don’t get me wrong, I have come across a few good ones such as http://www.careerealism.com/, http://www.blog.penelopetrunk.com/ and http://www.evetahmincioglu.com/web/blog/. However, some of the content are not directly relevant to the African environment.

The only reasonable African-focused career blog I have seen so far is http://www.theafricanrecruiter.com/. Even though it is new, the content is quite impressive. I plan to follow it for a while and see how useful it is to me.

This said, I am sure there are many more out there, older ones particularly. Has anyone come across one or more that they have found useful? Please share the links as I want to change my career in the medium term, but would like to start preparing early. Thanks a lot.

Career / Re: Improve Your Career By Becoming A Better Writer by Obianuju123: 1:51am On Oct 19, 2013
Interesting topic, but I have seen a million and one websites and career blogs, many with fancy names, but very poor content. Writing is a skill that should be developed, but it seems everyone just wants to have a website or career blog these days and very few are giving thought to the message they are putting out there and how it can really benefit readers. A lot of websites and blogs look like they have just been copied and pasted from other websites.

Don’t get me wrong, I have come across a few good ones such as www.careerealism.com, blog.penelopetrunk.com and www.evetahmincioglu.com/web/blog/. However, a lot of what is written is not directly relevant to the African environment. The only reasonable African-focused career blog I have seen so far is http://www.theafricanrecruiter.com/, but it is pretty new. However, I am sure there are other writers and bloggers that are just too difficult to find amongst all the not-so-good ones.

Oya, my fellow nairalanders, have you found any good one? Please share so early career professionals like us can all benefit. Thank you.

It is not true. Banking and Finance is one of the most lucrative courses. You just have to graduate with a good degree.
