nkemdi89: Nzeogwu is not an IBO man, he was from Midwest and he didn't carry the act as one, they wanted sanity and as a young major full of hormones, he organized a coup, which unfortunately had many people in north affected and he did that for awolowo too. The problem with Nigeria started with the youths and that's why the elders of today are afraid to relinquished power to youths, so that what happened in the 60s won't repeat itself. Assuming the killings targeted every tribes equally it wouldn't have raised sentiments. The North's are yet to forgive IBO's for the killings of their leaders. So sorry to correct you,but Nzeogwu was an Igbo Man, though he was from the Midwest,an Okpanam man is an Igbo man.the problem is the ease with which the northern establishment blamed all igbos for the actions of a few, that is the genesis of the situation we are in today. |

omohayek: While I agree with Ambode that the Land Use Act needs to go, I strongly disagree with his suggested replacement. Why should the state governors, using the legislatures they control, be given even more freedom to act like mini-dictators?
What needs to replace the Land Use Act is to make clear and easy provision for individuals to acquire perpetual title to land, and to then dispose of said land as they please, whether by sale, gifting it or whatever. It should be made much harder for politicians to interfere with individual property rights except where eminent domain clearly applies, and een then individuals should be entitled to receive fair market value (as assessed by an agency independent from the government) for the land taken from them.
Of course, all of the above is what one would wish for in a sane country whose leaders are actually serious about making the citizens lives better, rather than merely searching for new opportunities to steal. As such I don't expect any governors, senators or house members to come forward in favor of individual land rights. Listened to him yesterday, he even urged that the proposed local government autonomy bill under delibration be scrapped, so that the L.G should be forever under the control of the states, his is just clamouring for a mini dictatorship,in my opinion. |

cristianisraeli: i dont think so..because the first speaks of arabic was muslims..so how was it around b4 islam?i know hebrew have been there before islam because medina in saudi was a former jewish settlement before muhammed killed them and chased them away because they refused to accept him as a prophet I am a Christian but also a historian of sorts,so of your statements are a misrepresentation of the facts. Arabic predates Islam,it is an evolution of Aramaic, it is the preferred tongue of the peoples of the Arabian peninsula.when the jew were dispersed after the Maccabees uprising, the reigning Persian empire of the day brought in Arabs from the peninsula to settle on the land with the remnants of the Jewsthese produced the mixed people known as the Samaritans..by the time of Jesus, the commonly spoken language on the streets was Aramaic,Jesus spoke Aramaic casually(like pidgin is to english)but Hebrew is the preferred language of the synagogues. Medina was a fully Arabic town with lots of Jewish settlers, not a Jewish settlement. It was an important city on the old Silk route,And Muhammad wages war on them because of their polytheism (idol worship)and historians will tell you that ,coming from the merchant caste, he knew that control of Medina, meant control of trade on the Silk route (taxes and duties)and also a fast way of dispensing his doctrine.so there are many side to the rise of Islam. Just saying. |

malware: Those saying Boko Haram is part of the purported Islamization agenda should note that Boko Haram don't distinguish targets before they strike and everybody knows that since the inception of their terror campaign, they've killed more Muslims than Christians.
Therefore, if TY DANJUMA, Zamani LEKWOT and co want to also carve their own country, let them do that quietly without accusing Muslims of something they knew nothing about.
Ghana is a multi-religioud and multi-ethnic country but you hardly hear all these forms of baseless accusations coming from either of the religious or ethnic groups.
In Nigeria, Muslims are always accused of born to rule attitude, marginalization, sit tight syndrome, Islamization agenda, murder of Christians but yet still termed illiterates. How comes the illiterates acquire all those powers when we have the self-acclaimed literates present in the same country?
Let us kuku divide the country into pieces, we Muslims are tired. Don't be exasperated, that is the bane of being a Nigerian. All radical Islamic extremists have done far more harm to Muslims that any other religion, that is the irony..what people attack is their creed (to impose sharia by jihad on their perceived territory),by now you should know that enlightened folk know the difference btw a Muslim and a radical Islamic extremist (terrorist), |

This is one of the things wrong with Nigerians and the way we think in this country. I have no problems with equating salaries in federal institutions, but the F.G has no right to tell me who to hire or what to pay them in my organization. A b.sc can never be the same as a H.Nd because the entry requirements are different. Most people end up in polys because their SSCE's were not good enough or they couldn't make jamb.period. now giving them the same grade as people who work the asses off to earn B.Sc is unfair and ridiculous. Why don't we just scrap polytechnics then and make them all universities with the same basic entry requirements for all ??.then equate their grades and salaries. |

Now I know I am talking to a child,I am talking from careful research done on the subject,I have interviewed people who partook in that excursion, look the counter offensive needed the element of speed to succeed, the biafran soldier had just enough ammunition, the real from fight they were looking forward to was at Dodan barracks, that was the original objective. Why would they waste precious ammunition on non combatants ??, I mentioned Major Banjo because as an indigine he would never have allowed soldiers under his command to attack non combatant civilian, waste of resources. It seems it is you that has to study the war carefully and properly before coming online with your lies,The Biafra army never set foot in Ore township itself .#fact. So stop lying. Was the war not self inflicted or what do you think of an Igbo coup that waste d leaders of other region s why sparing theirs
You guys are always selfish and hypocritical. So the Nigerian soldiers that died are sub human abi. Look, can your lies,I usually don't get involved in trash talk, but I hate lies, the biafran army did not kill civilians in Ore,stop lying, the contingent of soldiers were led by a Yoruba and was enroute to lagos, they camped about 5 miles beyond thet town, they never entered Ore town itself, kindly interview survivors of that excursion for proof.I don't know why you people like twisting the truth on it's head to score cheap points online, ask anybody from that time, the only casualties in that 3 day counter offensive were policemen stationed at old agbor junction who tried to stop the biafran contingent.
