And so it starts,in my lifetime, this is probably the 3rd or 4th incarnation of Biafran agitation, I 've witnessed,Man truly doesn't learn from the mistakes of others, this is just the same path most nationalist fronts took, from IRA to ANC to PLO to basque seperatists to the Kurds, next stop terrorism. Its just so sad that we never learn, hmmm Wars and Rumours of war. |
naijababe:Please pose as igbo ,join Ipob forum and the type of people you will see as the ringleaders will shock you, I swear.the comment you quoted is about as real as it gets.Visit the east during December , come back and then disclaim the statement. |
blackboy:If only you knew ......... |
Ikwokrikwo:Na real wah. |
tutudesz:No, correct yourself, itsekiri and uhrobo have spoken, not south south, you simply can't fathom that S.S is arbitrarily created.that there are loads of Igbo speakers in S.S is hard for you to understand, Sorry.try harder. |
jamislaw:You 're being funny right, jihad did not begin 20 yrs ago.the whole spread of Islam has been tied to Jihad and terrorism, The whole of North Africa was for several hundred years mostly Coptic Christian, Jew and native idol worshipers, Islam took the whole area by force of jihad.and then crossed into Europe seizing Spain and Portugal for about 600 -800 yrs, that's why people there basically look like Arabs.they basically wiped the Castilians and the Aragonians. Even here in Nigeria, otthman Dan fodio usurped by jihad the kingdoms of indigenous rulers, sending armies to unseat native rulers and impose his followers on them. If that's not terrorism, please what is ??, |
Ugosample:Please don't feed trolls, nothing in the write up is factual or true. |
To all the people who get online and spew garbage about Biafra and the Civil war, kindly pick up a book or two, read from both perspectives, and compare with foreign accounts of the conflict, you will soon get a clearer picture.it costs nothing . I read loads of trash everyday by people who have no idea of what they are talking about,it's appallingly, some of this people don't even realise that they are doing IPOB's work for them, because by posting half truths which can be easily cross checked, they get hereto neutral people to take sides with the facts, thus doing ipobs work for them. The greatest travesty that the Nigerian establishment has done is to try to sweep the whole saga under the rug,not teaching the history in schools, and disregarding real opportunities for true reconciliation.those who try to forget mistakes of the past are doomed to relive it.this cuts both ways. To point out a couple of such absurdities, the Nigerians attacked first the city of nsuuka, got as far as ninth mile and were rebuffed. The biafrans felt the best way to end the conflict was to get to Lagos(then the seat of power). Kindly note in the months building up to the war,Gowon had virtually stripped the South of Military hardware.leaving Lagos vulnerable. So they felt getting to the West and consolidating would make it a North/South conflict. The expedition led by Major Victor banjo had a few trucks, a couple of APC's, and about 700 soldiers, the plan was hinged on the element of surprise. It worked briefly, the Mid west was pacified in 1 day with minimal loss of lives.the main action was at Agbor junction where some Nigerian police constables lost their lives. When Benin was "'liberated'',they pushed on to Ore,where they blew up Nigerian APCs,and then stopped. The next 3 days are the stuff of legend,Banjo maintain phone contact with both Ojukwu and Awolowo, whatever was discussed that made him to delay for those 3 days cost him his life. In meantime, Gowon rushed to reinforce Lagos, sending train loads of soldiers down thru jebba to lagos to siege up Dodan barracks, led by officers like Col Omar Sanda(who later changed his name to Gen like Nwachukwu).the biafran having lost the element of surprise retreated, the first of many such. The Mid west was not won by any staged battle, but by swift surprise in getting to Benin.,lastly the lower parts did see any fighting, contrary to accounts i see here how biafran killed isoko, uhrobo and itsekiri peoples. This is just plain false. Many things can learnt from the truthful accounts of the saga, foremost is War is never an option, but you must defend your self if you are threatened. I could go into the little nuances but I will stop for now, please stop doing ipobs work for them, that is not the way to defuse an ideology. Peace to all. |
onyii255:I was actually scrolling down to see the first person to spot the lies, the Aburi declaration was for Nigeria to be a conferadacy, but Gowon reneged on return to Nigeria following "advice" from super perm secretaries like Phillip Asiedu and Co.mostly the reason was one of ego,Ojukwu Obliterated Gowon at Aburi conference, the video transcripts are still available online.Ojukwu with his showman oratory skills made Gowon look unprepared. Gowon declared One Nigeria was non negotiable after agreeing at first, not the other way around. |
obaataaokpaewu:Acknowledged ,may your coasts be enriched nwanne. Udo |
obaataaokpaewu:Just saw this,I can't see your pm bro,but it is acknowledged. Udo, and a great day at work. |
marshborn:I think the point he's trying to make is that Chukwu abiama was never represented as an idol,he was believed to be a formless great spirit, mbari were set up in his dedication containing all other idols, but he was just represented by a big Nsibidi mark. Even in Arochukwu, there are no idols to symbolize him. Udo |
sonmvayina:Kedu nwannem, Firstly there are no 'ibos',no one is 'IBO',we are all igbos ,start by teaching your children that. This thread has nothing to do the plethora of deities worldwide, but only those that are peculiar to the igbos, visit your ancestral home, ask the elders, you would find Odinani ids the same everywhere. Yagazie, Udo |
Abagworo:Please stop spreading misinformation by bending half truths, the worship a and belief in chukwu okike abiama spread thru out Igboland to other ethnicities. So much so,that he was regarded by all to be the all mighty creator, the great faceless formless spirit, though he is often described as male, the one belief is synonymous everywhere Igbo is spoken or understood. That why the easiest way to get to interpret the Christian God to igbos was to use words and concepts they already understood. Historically, the shrine existed in many communities as a dedication to him,but the main one was at Arochukwu (lLong Juju).people deferred to it as a sort of traditional Supreme Court whose judgement was final. Also the Aros did not establish the Amadioha at Ozuzu or the Igwekali at Isu..please stop bending the truth, Yagazie |
marshborn:Actually igwekali is considered to be the husband of Ala,Amadioha became popular with the rise of the power and influence of the shrine in Ozuzu in etche.and igwekali is nowadays mostly known by those who have studied Odinani.. Igwe is still the word used to the heavens as opposed to the earth,if the sky don't rain ,the earth will not produce. Amadioha his brother is more correctly described as a thunder god,a god of War and retribution. A defender of the weak and hopeless, this is what omenala teaches. Yagazie. |
222Martins:Ogwu n' ofor are not gods of themselves, but totem items symbolizing justice and fairness, every Igbo man has his own ofor n' ogwu in his Obi,they were totems not gods of their own selves. A man's Of or is handed to his Oldest Son when he dies as a sign of authority in the household, and the power to dispense justice. It is Ala or Amadioha that exacts punishment when ogwu N' Ofor are transgressed. Titled men carried the white tusk as a symbol of Ofor, to signify that they are Men of intergrity and honour.who don't cheat. Yagazie. |
erico2k2:Just saw this,Edo state has one tributary(ethiope river) running thru its south eastern most corner of the state, the vast majority of its land mass is not situated within the delta itself, but is adjoining it,pls again consult map. The oil reserve allocated to Edo is mostly offshore, not land based, however it deserves to in the NDDC,but physically,it is barely in the delta rivers network system.the aforementioned S.E states are actually more embedded in the delta than it.that's the hypocrisy. This nebulous'ethnicity' some people keep claiming Niger deltan does not exist anywhere except in the minds of those who have allowed the government to define who they are and what they are. If the government comes tomorrow and tell them they are west deltan or east deltan, they will start claiming this,Edo are edos, they have been so for thousands of years.emancipate your mind and the rest will follow. |
erico2k2:Enrico, I prefer to discuss, to rub minds on ways not argue needlessly, the Edos are Edos, being situated in the Niger delta is another. |
obiezed: erico2k2:Actually this is not true, the Niger Delta gets it name from the network of tributaries and distributaries feeding into the ocean.pls consult the map, much of Edo state and Cross rivers are virtually untouched by this network, but the Anambra, Imo and Abia are riddled by the same network of rivers,I guess that why Obasanjo insisted on the inclusion Imo and Abia into NDDC,the whole area was formerly known as the Oil rivers protectorate in Colonial times. The S.S was created to make administration easier for the junta, also for divide and rule,if they do straight, there would be a dominant Igbo population in two geopolitical zones, which wouldn't work for them, therefore what we have, I am not pleading the case of IPOB,just calling a spade a spade. |
Amarabae:Honestly speaking, the SS geopolitical zone is seriously fraudulent, it is not based on homogeneity, but a political decision by the military junta to implement divide and conquer tactics. Notice the shape ,a U shaped tract of land designed to bypass certain areas, was that done in the north central case??, I am not an ipob apologist, just asking to clear certain points, did you know warri and owerri are virtually on the same latitude west and east of the Niger, but one is called SS and the other SE,do that make any sense?? What is the cultural affinity BTW an estako man and an obubra man,if not for Nigeria, they would probably have met each other. Damn,I guess am sounding like these ipob guys, but I am just pointing out certain facts,Imo and abia are in the true sense of the word more situated in the Niger delta than 60% of those claiming it,just look at the map.it really doesn't make any sense, not trying to offend. |
Amarabae:Then that means you support ALL igbos to be a country of their own, does that not include Igbo in delta and rivers state??,just asking |
Hello everyone, Usually I won't do this, I would like to know if there are any real martial artists in the house,by that I mean those with combat effective techniques, usually you get a lot of these baba Sule dojos, where they make all types of claims about their art,how they can defeat multiple attackers simultaneously and consecutively, and how their art is the best . These claims for anyone who has studied beyond the rudiments in any 2 martial arts or have actually use M.A techniques in real combat ,come across as bullshit, pardon my French, most traditional M.A schools waste their students time with katas that they are just going to learn for grading exams and then forget the next day, they are not combat effective, but simulations, they have their use,but that is limited. I am not going to go into that today, there are many different MMA promotions that have addressed that issue of effectiveness, most notably the UFC,there are also a wide plethora of videos and the info online to whet the appetite of the naysayers. I would like to know the M.artists in house, please feel free to comment,I would especially love to hear from the grappling community, I don't care if you study or have studied Judo,Jiujitsu, catch wrestling, SAMBO,pancrease etc, you are most welcome. Also, if there are any bjj guys or judo guys who love Ne waza, hit me up if you love rolling.let's talk techniques, who's hot, who's not right now.new effective techniques etc.thanks. P.s I have a twenty three year background in Shito ryu Karate plus a brown belt in jiujitsu, thirteen years. Oss. Cheers. |
princeloba:Actually, you are wrong,I am Igbo from Imo state,I am Anglican on both parents side for 3 generations now,my grandfather donated the land and supervised the building of the Church in my hometown. There are a lot of Igbo Anglicans, even many Anglican churches in Lagos are predominantly igbo especially in neighborhoods that have high Igbo population like festac, satellite and the environs. |
ganja06:Actually historically, the religions practiced in every locality is as a result of when and how it came in contact with it,there were Muslims of Yoruba ethnicity in Ibadan as early as the late 1700s, Also, the igbos were proselytized by different missionaries at different times, the first missionaries in the East were actually Presbyterians, they did not get a foothold, then came the Episcopals and the Lutherans, intact the first established full mission to the Southeast was led by bishop ajayi crowther, they came up the Niger and through the anambra ,Imo and Rivers river networks, got as far as Onitsha. They didnt penetrate into the hinterlands, this was successfully later done by Catholic missionaries particularly the Irish. Today,Igbo are largely Roman Catholics, but there are a huge number of Anglicans,as well as a lot of Methodists,Presbyterians, assemblies of God,seventh day adventists and Jehovah's witness, Also the traditional religions(ama ala) practice has waned, but is still being done by a lot of people. Back to topic,I think yourubas have an aversion for any religion that curtails them from marrying, that why you won't see a lot of Yoruba catholic priests. |
nijascammers:If you have ever met the man,you would know why this is so,mazi Phillip can come off as being arrogant and obnoxious, but his intelligence will not be in doubt, often most degrees above Masters require some degree of politicking, some people just don't know how to lick arse,as is his case.but he is the real deal. |
dapyd1:Don't take this wrong way,but I think humanism is the word you are looking for. Apart from repressive places like the Arabian peninsula, where on earth are women not allowed to drive,go to school??,most so called feminist do even know that the movement started in the 60s by lesbian and dissidents are not really campaigning for equal rights but superior rights for women. |
Spicycat:And you wonder why women are rarely the custodians of culture. |
Elnino4ladies:I usually ignore most posts on nairaland, but point of correction, The Nas line from ether goes**Rockefeller died ,that was the end of his chapter, And that the man choose to name your company after**, But as you can see Nas was wrong, the Rockefeller's didn't end with the death of the patriarch, John.d, Did you know they built and still co-own the empire state building amongst other prime NY real estate, controlling shares at Chase Manhattan etc, When the diss track ether dropped, I felt that was a wack line because I knew it wasn't true. Most people just listen to the rhythm, they don't really hear or understand what they are hearing. But hey, I guess what makes a good disc track is making shit up even if it isn't true. |
Eljefeoflagos:Quick question, what makes you think the guy is not Yoruba?,do you think every Yoruba person likes ewedu?? |
Vickiweezy:But he made you look, didn't he. |
passyhansome:Nwanne, something the other thread about ethnic groups should have taught you is not everyone on nairaland is an afonja,in fact not all Yoruba are afonja,be wise. Thumbs up to the young man's creativity, GOD bless his hustle. |
MrAdetunjiBayo:I know you must be a fellow Igbo, please stop this, this is not our style, troll baiting is juvenile, kindly leave trash for LAWMA. |

Dat's not a skyscraper @OP
