Daboomb:This snapshot is from a lithium ion battery pack of my battery builder (Ola Emmanuel). He has three battery banks put together. First pack is 220AH Second pack is 240AH Third pack is 260 AH. His batteries are in 14S configuration. His night usage alone is between 24kw & 25kw on a daily basis. Below is his latest battery history.

ojeysky:The future is now Sir. I am a living testimony that Lifepo4 is the sure way to go. I ventured into using inverter since 2013 though I added solar panels to my set up in 2015. I must confess that my major challenge all these years have been the early failure of my LA batteries. At a time I decided never to buy new batteries from Alaba bcus they don't exceed six months of usage before they pack up. I decided to start buying fairly used batteries that were put for auction by banks which never helped either but at least served slightly longer than the brand new deep cycle LA batteries. My turnaround in Renewable materialised when I reached out to EFURO who gave me a link to a guy who have been in this forum but on the quiet side. He is based in Lokoja (Kogi) state. His core is assembling and coupling of Lithium Ion and Lipo4 cells. To cut the long story short I was able to reach him on phone and we talked at length. After explaining my plights to him he assured me that if I can take a bold step by going lithium my story will change for the better. At first I thought it was just the usual market strategy which we Nigerians are used to but after due consultations with another guy that strictly sells lithium cells in Kano his name on this forum is (Tetralogyfallot) he sells lithium cells but does not build he still referred me to the Lokoja guy. That gave me the confidence to have a firm deal with him. All these are history right now bcus as I speak he was able to build a lifepo4 bank of 6,000 watts for me. Its been two months now since I started using that battery and I must confess that my experience at the performance of that battery has been amazing. I must emphasise that owing to the high cost of brand new lifepo4 cells I was not able to go for such. He rather coupled a grade B cells for me and attached a reliable BMS to it, but to my amazement that battery is performing way above my expectation. When he did a capacity test before sending the battery to my location I discovered that he was able to pull over 400 watts continiously for over 10 hours without the battery shuting down. He attached a battery meter to the battery which helped me and is still helping me to monitor the battery without stress. |
rajo4real:DMerciful is indeed a rare gem. He is indeed a solution to our generation as far as Renewable energy is concerned. Thanks to him, he saved me from giving up on renewable by fixing my mppt cc within 24 hours. Whenever I set my eyes on my cc I always ask God to keep blessing Dmerciful for me. |
You got my ribs cracking. Barezzi: |
DMerciful:Ur contribution is enormous. Greater heights in life is my wish for you Sir. |
efuro:Thanks Efuro! You can't just imagine how excited I am Sir. For me, immediately I got the delivery from Nipost this afternoon, I had to start spreading the good news to as many I knew that uses solar in Makurdi(Benue). I started with my installer. I told him to please help me tell his clients that there is a very reliable contact that takes care of mppt cc issues. Dmerciful, you deserve some accolades. You're just too nice Sir. May God continually bless you beyond ur imagination. Amen! |
DMerciful:It gladens my heart to announce to this honourable house that my ep solar mmpt(i tracer) has been fixed and is working perfectly well. Shout out to Dmerciful who made this possible. Man you rock! |
kiekie1:It's OK. That being the case I'll get in touch with you as requested. Thanks! |
kiekie1:It's annoying when I see you lie unnecessarily on this forum. When the ep ever (I tracer) I bought from you developed a fault what effort did you make to bring it back to life? When I called on you to show my disappointment you declined and never gave me any support. Honestly I forgave you as I had to forgo that cc which I bought from you at 150,000 and 5,000 for transport making it 155,000. I promised myself I'd rather stick to my pwm cc than go for the so called ep solar cc (I tracer) or whatever you call it. Pls watch what you say on this forum bcus we aren't kids. |
bodejohn:I tap into ur testimony. |
bigrovar:Thanks bro, I'll follow ur advise. I've learnt so much from this forum. |
@Earthrealm, thanks bro...currently I'm using AGM batteries and am about purchasing new sets of batteries. My installer keeps advising me to go for GEL batteries which I'm trying to get more info to avoid regretting my decision at the end of the day. I'm so grateful Sir. |
@earthrealm, talking about AGM deepcycle and GEL deepcycle batteries, which one performs better? Pls ur reply will be so much appreciated. |
@Chris18964 & bigrover, pls I'm interested in subscribing to your YouTube videos. Pls how can I get hooked up? |
My set up is a 1.5 kva inverter@ 24v. Two pieces of 200 ah batteries. This year it clocked 2years of me running them strictly on phcn & generator. The very day it was officially announced that fuel(PMS) will now sell for 145 I took a bold step of going solar. I started with 4panel rated 150 watts each. At first I wasn't so much impressed with its performance even when the sunrise is at its peak, but ever since I added two more 150 watts panels my battery easily gets charged at a short period of time. |
No matter how cloudy the weather may be I can now conveniently turn on my fridge for a minimum of four hours without having any fear of power failure during the day time. |
Going Solar is impressive. I'm a living witness. Like I said in my last post, after adding two more 150 watts panel to my already existing 600 watts I now have a total of 900 watts and the gudnews is that I can now power my fridge for a minimum of 4 hours everyday without having fears of my battery going below 50% dod. I thankGod for this innovative idea. |
@ all, deep cycle batteries and gel batteries which one is better in terms of being rugged and surviving deep discharge over time? Pls opinions are highly welcome. Thanks! |
I am looking forward to getting two new 200ah batteries which will be a sperate battery bank of 24v. I intend running the weak battery during the day time which will be powered by my panel which is 600watts presently...then switch to the new batteries at nite which will also be charged by solar during the day. I want to go off grid and also avoid turning my generator which runs between 3 to 4 hours every evening on a daily basis. Note when I add my 2 pieces of 150 watts on my roof I'll be having 900 watts of panels. Can I use one inverter to switch between the old and new battery bank conveniently? |
@bigrover, d merciful & mank1234...u guys are wonderful. Sincerely I've learnt a lot from u guys. Now that it been made clear to me to avoid mixing the old and new batteries in parallel, what do u advice me to do with my weak batteries which can last for 6 hours when fully charged? |
@bigrover, I do appreciate u for the detailed explanation. |
Presently I have 4 pieces of 150 watts panel. It has been of so much help to me for the past three months I got it. Thanks to this thread which motivated me to toll this line. There is no regret going solar. In fact I ordered for 2 more panels rated at 150 watts each. It arrived yesterday. By the time it will be mounted I will be having 900 watts of panels above my roof which is very impressive I must say. Thanks to George D, Earthrealm, Abunafiu, Akannaide, Pheleix etc... U guys have been a source of inspiration to me. May God keep blessing u guys. |
I have a 1.5kva inverter with 2 batteries rated at 200ah each. Presently my batteries are weak but still serves me for like 6 hours when fully charged. I intend buying two more batteries so that I can have two separate battery bank. Now this is my plan: I intend running the weak battery bank during the day time then run the new battery bank at nite. Now my problem is... Can I use one inverter to run the two battery banks separately? I'm trying to avoid a situation where the old battery will be acting as load to the new. Advice from kind hearted readers will be appreciated. |
That being the case, my battery bank is 400 ah in total. What size of charge controller will be okay for my battery if my panel rating is a total of 600 watts? |
timifakay:That being the case, my battery bank is 400 ah in total. What size of charge controller will be okay for my battery if my panel rating is a total of 600 watts? |
tradeplusib:I'm feeling so sad within myself right now. I have this feeling that I don't have a capable installer who is close by to give me the right advice. I had to confront him today telling him the same thing u just told me & he is still insisting that the 20ah pwm charge controller he installed for me is capable of handling my 150 watts panel which is in four pieces. What do I do now? |
tradeplusib:My set up is on 12v. What ah of solar charge controller will u advice me to go for? |
My installer told me that I only need a 30ah solar charge controller when I am operating on a 3.5kva inverter system which is bigger compared to my present 1.5 kva inverter. I need more clarification on this pls. |

.. It depends on your choice as both works pending on your configuration and system voltage !
