@spikedcylinder "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" starts showing from Friday at Nigerian cinemas. I'll check it out on Monday at Ozone cinemas. |
@spikedcylinder Its the collective mean of all the ratings. So, we be reviewing an animated movie next. Here are my suggestions: - Up (2009) - Spirited Away (2002) - Toy Story trilogy (JeSoul, what do u think? )- Final Fantasy-The Spirits Within (2001) - Finding Nemo |
vescucci:@vescucci You're just perambulating around this issue. "The Illusionist" was cool. ![]() |
@vescucci You're gerrymandering the whole thing. ![]() I found "The Illusionist" quite pleasing if I must say. |
So, after all the digressions, permutations, assertions and collation, "The Departed (2006)" inculcated an average rating of 86%. So, I guess we'll be reviewing an animated movie next. Oh!! One more thing. I finally saw "The Illusionist". It wasn't bad sha. ![]() |
@kobikwelu Some of the irrelevances make sense. ![]() So, we're about to round up on the reviews for "The Departed". Time to start collating the results. |
@JeSoul & Vescucci "The Experiment" (2010) is a direct-to-DVD film starring Adrian Brody, Forest Whitaker & Clifton Collins Jr. Its the remake of a 2001 German film of the same name. It was a bit shocking and I have mixed feelings for it. ![]() |
@JeSoul I want to ask you something about the ending of "Gone Baby Gone", if you were in Casey Affleck's character shoes at the ending, would you have done the same thing? @JeSoul and Vescucci Have you seen "THE EXPERIMENT (2010)"? |
@vescucci Who are you punishing?? Some times I don't know when you are joking or serious. Just because some people don't like a movie, you are now abusing them. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Guy, take it easy. ![]() |
@oyb OYB The computer man. You don see the latest one wey your naija people don release "Dangerous Men" https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-515751.0.html ![]() Has anyone seen "The Town"? They say its a combination of "The Departed", "Gone Baby Gone" and "Heat" |
@vescucci My own is that once you vote for a movie be reviewed, don't fail to do so. I don't like situations where at the end of the day, only 3 or 4 reviews are recorded. ![]() |
@oyb Watch the film again. It was resolved at the end. Even though it wasn't your happy-ever-after type of ending, it was still resolved. @vescucci "Goodfellas" is far better than "Gangs of New York" if you ask me. "The Aviator" was nice. ![]() |
Spikyn gives "The Departed" 87%. Nice. Mark Wahlberg got an Oscar nomination for his role in this film. I prefer Pixar animated films to those of DreamWorks. The only DreamWorks animated films I like are Shrek 1 & 2, Kung Fu Panda & How to Train Your Dragon. @oyb What's your percentage rating on "The Departed"? |
ah miss my section new semester just started. .busy, busy ah its not easy to settle down !
@Ijaw_girl Where did you disappear to?? |
@Kay 17 We're reviewing "The Departed" for now. @topic Now this is how to do a remake. The movie was so good that I still can't believe its a remake of another movie. The story was good and the acting was well carried out. My favorite character in "The Departed" has to be Sgt. Sean Dignam played by Mark Wahlberg. This has got to be Martin Scorsese's best work followed by "Goodfellas", "Casino" and maybe "The Aviator". I give "The Departed" a 91% rating. P.S. Someone told me that if I liked "The Departed", "Gone Baby Gone" and "Heat", then I'll like Ben Affleck's new film "The Town". |
Its still uncertain if there's going to be a season 2 with the re-occurrence of Andy Whitfield's cancer. But the 6-part prequel which will be called "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena" is still slated to air on January 2011. |
kobikwelu:@kobikwelu You were typing so fast, you made that error. ![]() And nobody was planning any coupe. Any film is open for review. But for now, we're reviewing "The Departed (2006)". ![]() @justkunmi justkunmi:Oga, is that your own review for "The Departed"? And yes, there are plans to make a sequel for "The Departed". I might hit a dead end like the planned Robocop remake. My review is coming up today. I'm attending a wedding at the moment. ![]() |
@JeSoul You're jumpy today!!! ![]() @topic THE DEPARTED (2006) Let me state some facts about this film then I'll give my review tomorrow. Facts: "The Departed" is a remake of a Hong Kong film called "Internal Affairs". It won 4 Oscars at the 79th Academy Awards which are Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing. There are possible plans of making a sequel. |
@JeSoul Next time don't pass judgment on something you know nothing about. "How To train Your Dragon" was ok.I saw "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" recently. Mehn!! That film was wack. The first Mummy film in 1999 was far better. @topic Lets have more votes for either: - The Departed (2006) - 4 votes - Toy Story trilogy (1995, 1999 & 2010) - 2 votes |
spikedcylinder:@spikedcylinder But I still feel Nigerians (especially the adults) don't like watching animated films. "Up" was good. I only liked "Shrek 1" and "Shrek 2". The remaining parts of Shrek were trash. "Finding Nemo", "Final Fantsy: The Spirits Within" and "Spirited Away" are other good animated films. "Toy Story 3" was not bad o!! The Departed (2006) - 4 votes Toy Story trilogy (1995, 1999 & 2010) - 2 votes |
As it stands; The Departed (2006) - 4 votes Toy Story trilogy (1995, 1999 & 2010) - 2 votes |
Is it that Nigerians (especially the adults) hate watching animated films or what?? I don't see anything wrong with putting an animated film up for review. Like I said before, any film is open for review even documentaries. ![]() Well, the poll is still open: The Departed - 3 votes Toy Story trilogy - 2 votes |
@SubmitYour Inception has been reviewed already. @JK Why don't we review the entire Toy Story series. So far, THE DEPARTED - 3 votes TOY STORY trilogy - 2 votes |
I saw "Ije" last month at Genesis Cinemas. It was quite impressive for a Nigerian movie. "Ije" has not started showing in cinemas outside Nigeria at the moment but only at some international film festivals. Its showing in Nigeria cinemas at the moment (mainly Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt). The Departed (2006) - 3 votes Toy Story 3 (2010) - 1 vote |
Debuting at Nigerian cinemas from September 17 2010: - The Last Airbender Debuting at U.S.cinemas from September 17 2010: - The Town - Easy A - Devil - Alpha and Omega |
"Tales By Moonlight" was a classic. "Story Land" was another good one back in the days. |
@kobikwelu "The Departed (2006)" has 3 votes so far. We still need 2 more votes to carry on with the review. Come to think of it, we have never reviewed an animated movie so far. The time will come sha. ![]() |
I just saw the trailer for "THE TOURIST". It stars Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp and it will be in theaters on December 10 2010. [flash=640,385] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJih6Ou9tHg?fs=1[/flash] |
JeSoul:@JeSoul I've changed my mind. ![]() Lets review either: - Shutter Island (2010) - The Departed (2006) - SpiderMan Trilogy - The Godfather Trilogy - Iron Man 1 & 2 - JFK (1991) - Titanic (1997) - Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy |
@JeSoul Nooo!!! I want wack film. ![]() |
@davidif "Inception" got an average rating of 85% on Nairaland Movie Club. |
