Family Preference Immigrant Visas (Limited): These visa types are for specific, more distant, family relationships with a U.S. citizen and some specified relationships with a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR). There are fiscal year numerical limitations on family preference immigrants, shown at the end of each category. The family preference categories are:

Family First Preference (F1): Unmarried sons and daughters of U.S. citizens, and their minor children, if any. (23,400)

Family Second Preference (F2): Spouses, minor children, and unmarried sons and daughters (age 21 and over) of Lawful Permanent Reidents (LPRs). At least seventy-seven percent of all visas available for this category will go to the spouses and children; the remainder is allocated to unmarried sons and daughters. (114,200)

Family Third Preference (F3): Married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens, and their spouses and minor children. (23,400)

Family Fourth Preference (F4): Brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens, and their spouses and minor children, provided the U.S. citizens are at least 21 years of age. (65,000)

Note: Grandparents, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and cousins cannot sponsor a relative for immigration.

Immediate Relative Immigrant Visas (Unlimited): These visa types are based on a close family relationship with a United States (U.S.) citizen described as an Immediate Relative (IR). The number of immigrants in these categories is not limited each fiscal year. Immediate relative visa types include:

IR-1: Spouse of a U.S. Citizen
IR-2: Unmarried Child Under 21 Years of Age of a U.S. Citizen
IR-3: Orphan adopted abroad by a U.S. Citizen
IR-4: Orphan to be adopted in the U.S. by a U.S. citizen
IR-5: Parent of a U.S. Citizen who is at least 21 years old

Any Anti-Trump protest happening in your area?

Anyone staying in Washington, D.C.?
Did anyone here attend Donald Trump's inauguration.

Bossman:
I absolutely agree. They have taken over IT. As I type this, I am sitting in a room with 17 of us here cranking out code. I am the only non-Indian consultant here. I am a citizen of course. One of them has GC. The rest are all H1. crazy!

Any hope for H-1B cap exempt jobs?

ttmacoy:
I think Trump may actually be good for the H1 visa programme as it is being abused by companies especially Indian IT outsourcing companies. It is well know the Indian IT outsourcing companies (Tata, Infosys, Cognizant etc.) play a numbers game with the H1 visa and flood the system with applications each year and as you mentioned they pay the workers the minimum they can get away with.

This makes it difficult for applicants from other countries e.g. Nigeria.

What about H-1B cap exempt jobs?

JulietteO:
Hello all, I would love to procure a US permanent resident visa (immigrant visa) but the only problem I have right now is not having anyone who provide me with a letter of invitation, pleased what do I do? I really want to go.

Common ways of getting U.S. Permanent Residency (Green Card) are either through family (relatives who are either U.S. Citizens or Lawful permanent residents) or an employment offer.

CFCman:
This is a big intrusion into the privacy of travelers, but I doubt if any legal challenge to this policy in US courts would be successful because the US Supreme Court has long held that the US govt has an inherent public interest to carry out intrusive searches on foreign visitors at its border posts.

But as the article says, the policy would be limited to countries whose citizens do not need a visa to travel to the US; so it won't apply to Nigerian passport holders.

Yeah! It's meant for countries in the U.S. visitors visa waiver program

But from the information, it is applicable to visitors coming through the Visa Waiver Program.

Wonder Woman & Justice League movies are coming in 2017.
Which one do you predict will have both critical and commercial success?
