I think the organisers are blind. No Nigerian politician/political parties  included? Nonsense, yeye list.  abegii

Nigerian politician/parties?
The oscars is an award show for movies released in the United States and Canada.

@shfizle
At last year's Oscar awards, "The Dark Knight" was not even nominated in the Best Picture category. Although it won Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger, but for the movie not to even be nominated in Best Picture was a big snub.

@zsulu
But I hope u know that piracy is not the only major factor affecting the entertainment industry.

@Igbo Mafia
Its not by force to contribute in this topic. If you want to be talking about all the 1 billion problems worrying Nigeria, go to the Politics section.

@AjanleKoko
Please tell me which cinema you went to watch Avatar (IMAX 3D) in Lagos. I have only seen the 2D version at Silverbird Cinemas around January. I really want to see this version of the movie.

Outside Nigeria, artistes still make money through album sales despite the fact piracy exists over there. But in naija, the artistes barely make money on album sales and depend solely on shows, parties and concerts for that.

Daybreakers

@justkunmi
I have something funny for you. Avatar copying Pocahontas.

@omo9ja123
Topic already exists here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-389283.0.html

so, "Avatar" copy "Pocahontas"

spikedcylinder:

It's possible because the Oscars can be a bit off sometimes but IB is truly deserving.

Either "Avatar", "Inglourious Basterds" or "The Hurt Locker" will win Best Picture.

justkunmi:
Best.Picture. .District.9

Laff wan kill me for here.

@justkunmi
Do you know that "Avatar" wasn't given a nomination in the Best Original Screenplay? To me, I felt the story was anything from being original. But still, its a GOOD MOVIE.
_{Hmm, I wonder how eating a shoe will feel like for justkunmi.}

@joyblinks
Its just based on the quantity of films being produced and not on the quality (which includes good acting, storyline and visual effects).

@Spikedcylinder
No. comma, Best Picture - AVATAR

The Motion Picture Academy don't nominate individuals based on motion capture performance or Voice acting in categories like Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor and Actress. The academy was considering nominating Zoe Saldana for her role as Neytiri in "Avatar" but was later dropped after a heavy debate over the matter.

I gotta feeling that "Inglourious Basterds" will win Best Original Screenplay. I liked the Music score that was composed by Hans Zimmer for "Sherlock Holmes".

@~Sauron~
U blame dem??

@chic2pimp
I agree with you except for the "Best Picture" part.

"Avatar" will win the Best Visual Effects category even though "District 9" looks more realistic to me.

@~Sauron~
I know how you feel. Its the most critically acclaimed movie of 2009. "The Hurt Locker" has received a lot of positive reviews from critics. But trust the moviegoers themselves, they have different opinions on the movie. Well, to me, "The Hurt Locker" was an OK movie about that bomb disposal guru.

The strong contenders in the Best Picture category are: "Avatar", "Inglourious Basterds", "District 9" and "The Hurt Locker". I have this feeling "Avatar" will win this category.
"Up" will win Best animated feature film. "Avatar" will also win the Best Visual Effects category even though "District 9" is another strong contender.

@MRbrownJAY
When I saw the list, i felt very sorry for you. How did u manage to stay awake while watching "The Road"? You are truly amazing.
