No fewer than four persons were killed in a renewed communal clash between the people of Nko in Yakurr Local Government Area and Onyadama in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State.

A source told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that the latest crisis erupted when information filtered in that those arrested during the last crisis had been released by the Nigerian Army.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the latest communal war started on Friday and continued till Sunday morning, with losses from both sides.

Some residents of Nko community who spoke with GRASSROOT REPORTERS from where they took cover, said men of the Nigerian Army invaded the community and rained bullets on the community.

"As I'm speaking with, shooting is still going on. The community is almost deserted as women and children are hiding in the bush."


Efforts by GRASSROOT REPORTERS to speak with SP Irene Ugbo, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, proved abortive as calls to her line were not answered.

Also, a text message sent to her number was not replied to as of the time of this report.

The man seen in a viral video walking completely naked in Lagos has been identified as Foster Ebayy (real name: Foster Anslem Ibe), a budding musician based in Lagos, Nigeria, GRASSROOT REPORTERS reports.

His Youtube channel, Foster Ebayy, shows videos of him talking about spiritual things and the fifth spiritual realm.

A further search on his Youtube channel by GRASSROOT REPORTERS reveals that he was born in Ajao estate area of Lagos state. He is also a songwriter, producer, and sound engineer."

The video caused mild drama in the Victoria Garden City (VGC) axis of Lagos State as passersby suspected that the couple were under the influence of hard drugs, which was also confirmed by the chairman of landlords' association.

According to a note shared by one of the witnesses, the woman in the video is from the United States of America and came to Nigeria last October.

They were said to have attempted to kill themselves after taking the hard drugs.

The note read: "Dear neighbours, greetings to you, all. Yesterday on our close, at about 11 pm, the Vice-Chairman called my attention to an ugly situation whereby two adults; male and female were seen walking around the estate completely naked.

"Our estate security and management personnel accosted them and accompanied them to our close (63) where the duo purportedly resided in a BQ. As the case may be, the situation soon got out of hand when both adults slit their writs and necks in what seemed to be a suicide attempt, saying they would die and rise again in three days.

"Further investigation of their BQ apartments revealed some items such as illegal drugs and other substances. They were obviously under the influence of some substances (drug abuse).

"Thank God for the swift response of our management, security and medical team who eventually sedated the victims and took them to the hospital around 12.45am.

"Drug abuse is real. May God help our teens and let us be observant and to report anything that looks out of the ordinary within the neighbourhood. They were going into the 5th dimension ie kill themselves and rise after three days. It took about five hours to get them to the hospital on Saturday night. The girl is a full American that came in from the US in October to experience the 5th dimension with the guy.

"They got home and slit their wrists and necks and their door had to be broken down. The hospital said they were both on Colorado, Canadian Loud, aka meth.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared the Chief Executive Officer of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative, a Bayelsa-based ponzi scheme, Pastor (Dr) Miebi Bribena (full name: Onyimiebi Bribena) and his wife, Beatrice Bribena wanted for allegedly defrauding Nigerians to the tune of N2 billion.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that Pastor Bribena, who is a pastor at Christ Embassy Kumasi 1, Ghana, fled Nigeria last year after failing to pay investors their return on investment (ROI), leading to protests in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.


Pastor Bribena had alleged that some staff of the cooperative compromised its systems by defrauding the organisation of over N300million, adding that the organisation was carrying out a forensic audit to enable it pay backlog of unpaid surpluses to the investors and members, a promise that was never fulfilled.

A statement signed by Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity of EFCC partly reads:

"Bribena and Beatrice are both natives of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
"Their last known address is: No 163 Mbiama Yenagoa Road, Biogbolo, Bayelsa State.

Barr Obla lost the APC Senate Primaries to the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams.


Obono-Obla, while announcing his new party, said:

“Political platform is only a vehicle for the realization of one’s political aspiration and interest.


“It is my own people’s interests that I will represent them in the Senate. I will do my utmost to ensure that my people‘s politcal interest is not rendered unnoticed by some Potentate who decide who is at where.”


Chief Obla has now emerged the candidate of Labour Party to represent Cross River Central Senatorial District.

Popular music executive and talent manager, Ubi Ekapong Ofem, popularly known as Ubi Franklin has lost the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Assembly primary for Yakurr 1 State Constituency, conducted today in Ugep, Cross River State.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS' correspondent reports that he scored 12 votes as against 17 votes garnered by the winner, Cyril Omini, while Ubi Ubi Itam came third with 11 votes.

The controversial businessman had announced that he will be contesting for a political position, a move which generated mixed reactions from his fans.

One policeman has been confirmed dead while two others were seriously injured on Monday, May 23 in Obudu, Cross River State during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives primaries for Obudu/Bekwerra/Obanliku Federal Constituency.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS' correspondent reports that heavily armed thugs invaded Handmaid Nursery and Primary School, the venue for the primaries and opened fire on the policemen and delegates, destroying and burning cars and other properties.

One of the policemen, identified as Martins Mbang, died on the spot while the second policeman who was seriously inured was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

A source told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that one other person was shot and was also rushed to the hospital.

Confirming the incident to GRASSROOT REPORTERS in a telephone conversation, Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, said: "one of the policemen died while the other one is receiving treatment".

Meanwhile, the PDP has postponed the primaries for Obudu/Bekwerra/Obanliku Federal Constituency. No date was announced by the party.

Governor Ben Ayade has finally reacted to reports that he bought the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial nomination form few days after some groups presented him with the party's presidential nomination form in Abuja, a move many described as having a plan B.


GRASSROOT REPORTERS had reported that a list indicating that the governor purchased the form on May 10, had leaked.


Reacting in a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, the governor said he's still in the race for the presidency, describing the purchase of the form in his name as a distraction.



The governor denied knowledge of the purchase of the form.


Professor Ben Ayade said he is in the presidential race to win and is thus not running for senate as being speculated.



Ayade said while his attention has been drawn to the purported purchase of senatorial nomination form in his name, those behind it did so without his knowledge or authorization.



The governor emphasized that the only election he is contesting is for the office of the president.


Mr. Ita quoted the governor as saying:

"I make bold to say, and also reassure millions of my supporters across the country that I am in the presidential race to win and will pursue this ambition to its logical conclusion.



"I am currently engrossed in octane consultations with critical party stakeholders on how to clinch the presidential ticket of my great party, the APC and have nothing to do with a purported Senate form bearing my name" the statement further quoted the presidential hopeful as saying.


Describing the alleged Senate form as a distraction targeted at his presidential ambition, Ayade urged his supporters to remain resolute in their support and not to fall for "this distraction targeted at our collective resolve to reinvent Nigeria through our impending victory.
