A former Deputy governor of Imo state, Ebere Udeagu, died at the age of 79 on Monday.

Udeagu, who served as a deputy governor of the state between 1999 and 2007, died in the early hours of Monday in Owerri, the state capital.

Udeagu’s last public appearance was on October 1, 2022, during the 62nd Independence Day anniversary in Owerri.

A source told our correspondent that the former deputy governor complained of ill-health on Sunday morning and could not attend a church service.
He was later rushed to a hospital where he died on Monday morning.
A former governor of the state, Ikedi Ohakim, on Monday, described Udeagu’s death as unfortunate.

One of Ohakim’s aides, Emmanuel Chukwu, in a short statement in Owerri on Monday, said that the state had lost one of its illustrious sons.

NDLEA uncovers cocaine warehouse in Ikorodu, seizes N193bn worth of crack

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have busted a major warehouse in a secluded estate in the Ikorodu area of Lagos where 1.8 tons (1,855 kilograms) of cocaine were stored.

The cocaine seized from the warehouse is worth more than Two Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($278, 250,000) equivalent to about One Hundred and Ninety Four Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Five Million (N194, 775,000,000) Naira in street value.


Four drug barons including a Jamaican and the warehouse manager have been arrested.

The kingpins of the cocaine cartel in custody include Messrs Soji Jibril, 69, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo state; Emmanuel Chukwu, 65, who hails from Ekwulobia, Anambra state; Wasiu Akinade, 53, from Ibadan, Oyo state; Sunday Oguntelure, 53, from Okitipupa,
Ondo state and Kelvin Smith, 42, a native of Kingston, Jamaica.



They are all members of an international drug syndicate that the NDLEA has been trailing since 2018.


Giving further details on the incident, Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media for NDLEA told PM News that the warehouse is located at 6 Olukuola crescent, Solebo estate, Ikorodu.

Babafemi confirmed that the warehouse was raided on Sunday 18th September 2022, while the barons were picked from hotels and their hideouts in different parts of Lagos between Sunday night and Monday 19th September.


He said: “Preliminary investigation reveals that class A drugs were warehoused in the residential estate from where the cartel was trying to sell them to buyers in Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.

“They were stored in 10 travel bags and 13 drums.”

Wise decision, this Just the fastest way of resolving the issue. How many Hausa build outside there state, what type of business do the do in the eastern part of the country, if Igbo land has functional sea ports don't you think that it would have been highest marketable place. I got married two months ago. I am 7 months pregnant my husband didn't tell me he had a child from his previous relationship and the child has a disability celebral palsy. Her mother came to dropped her off in my house saying she has done enough and she's tired it is now hubby turn to take care of her.

The child can't do anything for herself she can't sit, talk, walk and she does toilet in her clothes. I can't do it anymore I love children because I have taken care of my own nieces and nephews before I would have taken care of her if she was normal but taking care of a child in this question is hard and if her own mother has had enough she abandoned her and why would I kill myself taking care of her in my condition.

I want to divorce and go back to my village I have told him i am leaving next month. He is pleading with me not to leave him that he will take the child somewhere else but the place is not free he has to be paying like 200k monthly for them to take care of the child and he doesn't even have that amount of money because he is not financial stable.

I will stick to my decision but I want to know what will other people do in my situation.

I was sitting out with my friend in a park, suddenly the police came and asked I and my friend to standup, after searching us with other people who were at the joint, the asked I and my friend with two other young men to enter their hilux pickup van with the other two men, while the left the elderly men and those who proved very hard to them, at first I tried resisting the arrest but on sighting my friend I had no option than to go with them. As we were driving one of the police men told us not to worry that it is a raid that once we get to the station we would explain ourselves but in my mind I knew it was stories.
When we got to the station Owerri Urban Imo State they started asking us all unnecessary questions and later asked question and later asked us to bring 15k that light. After all said and done we had to sleep over night there, in the morning the asked us to bring 5k with other fines attached to it which we had no option than to pay because those guys are very heartless. I have vowed never to help any policeman again, but what pained me most was that I drank 1 bottle of palm wine and Nkwobi with over 7k as against 950.

Mine was a bit higher but ended up paying far less, so it depends your bargain with your inlaw
