That is a falsehood. Lagos makes the vat it does right now because the head office of moist companies are in Lagos.

Under the changes the vat will be credited to the states where the product was consumed.

An example: all the vat on Dangote cement, MTN, Glo, airtell first bank, Zenith etc is currently attributed to Lagos. If you buy cement to build houses or concrete roads in Ebonyi the vat goes to Lagos. If you make a call or bank in Ebonyi the VAT is attributed to Lagos. Under the new law if passed the vat on the cement, telecom and banking services in Ebonyi will be attributed to Ebonyi state.

So clearly the vat that was going to Lagos will go down, the vat going to Ebonyi will go up. Lagos and Ebonyi will keep 60% of their vat and the rest will be shared amongst all states so each state will actually get more than 60% of its VAT.

This will encourage governors to attract development to their states because they will get more money from VAT from activities in their states.

El Rufai foresaw this and initiated the idea of having a dry port in the north. I think the project was commissioned (not sure).

The dry port was designed to allow for import and export to and from the northern part of Nigeria to through Libya and then the Atlantic Ocean. It is a bright idea, but many of today's leaders from the north are just so focused on getting free money from the center.

It is high time the northern leaders put heads together to eliminate terrorism, religious extremism, high illiteracy and look inward.

They have vast arable lands that the Middle Belt, South East and South West cannot boast of.

They are part of Africa's solar belt.

Refilling the Chad River will seriously boost agriculture (fish and crop farming) in the north.

They should look for ways to expunge religious extremism and woo investors. They already have the population that will serve as affordable labour for companies and factories.

Nobody should look at what others have in their respective domains.

Having water underneath or in form of surface water bodies does not translate to vegetation and that is why states like Kaduna , Jigawa , Kano etc have more body of water than states like Enugu or Ebonyi but Enugu and Ebonyi have more vegetation than these northern states .

Most of the dry fishes we eat down south comes from the north and they don't harvest fish from dry land.

I am not doubting that southern states can rear cattles , my argument here is that the major problem confronting Fulani herdsmen is not that of water but grass

More than 80% of river Niger lies within the north while the entire river benue is in the north and not to talk about their numerous tributaries and these are the two major rivers in Nigeria
