I want to start poultry with loan, I've negotiated to rent a farm.
Should I take day old chick or point of lay. What are the associated risks? What are the prices of day old chick and Point of lay birds?

You are digging your gravel by starting your farm with loan.I don't know you but I must be candid with you that isn't the best option.why not start with you own money and gradually you grow from grass to grace.

The cost and durability. weight isn't a problem. I have sold couple of dishes in segment.Though its a little bit costlier than solid dish so far it works for what you want that shouldn't be problem.

I get irib in lagos with 1.35m dish though now rusted to pieces due to ocean proximity.

Fibre dish is your best bet if you are very close to the Atlantic ocean.its rust free and can withstand all weather.

wow intense!! This is more difficult that inverted setup! It still haven't sink in! Is it that u track 36degree with d 90cm dish and den decide to turn d lnb backward! Cox d last time I tried blocking my lnb with my hand while facing d dish, it loss signal! Isn't the sub reflector blocking the signal? Or does it affect d signal in a way or the other? From this setup I consider maself already a mediocre.. I been think sey I don master every technique in satellite!... I'd like u to hmu on whatsapp or any social netwrk! Lemme know more from you!$

All divergence rays coming from the satellite in the sky will bounce on your dish.Your dish will converge all the rays into a particular point while the sub reflector picks the rays into a straight line and send it into the throat of your lnb.
If the sub reflector is too big it might affect your signal quality if you are handling a prime focus dish.it works efficiently with off set dish because all rays bounce on the surface of the dish at offset angle to the lnb.

....and if you have good receiver you can save all the channels
Whenever you experience that you just command the receiver to replace the lost channels.simple as ABC.

As simple as a dish is u don't know how to measure and here u r trying to lecture me. No wonder u had problem with ogojohn .......

You can measure from any point along the circumference of the dish so far its a prime focus dish.if its offset you can do it i either way.vertical or horizontal. The real measurement in off set is the vertical measurement and I think the guy in question is still correct.

Quite unfortunate I lost one of my friendly and active cockerel aged 3 months today to cardiovascular disorder(heart failure).No signs of illness,its well fed and ever active.
Hope our vet Dr. Can diagnose early signs of this sudden death in poultry before it get out of hands.

odilibe you may re-try hotbird i guess the signal should be high now because we are approaching dry season.My percentage currently is 77% on 3m with 10719 with our common fuji lnb.

A tp pop up on Astra 19 after so much stress with 53% using 3m dish.

tv8 is possible in Nigeria .I just hit green now.

MENA, so sure, 85-90cm dish should
be ok especially for residents in the
North Eastern part of their countries
throughtout WestAfrica. I doubt a
southerner will hit a watchable signal
with 90cm, I doubt that.

@xnnalvin. It simply means that you needed a bigger pan to lock on those transponders.You can also try your luck with high end lnbs.

You don't need to kill yourself because of beibsports
With your 4.4m you can enjoy better package than bein..

sorry guys the image refuse to load,ok if you look at your dish that round edge that is surrounding the entire body of the dish that is bent downward tilt like you want to open it thats the trick

That is to give the dish some little gain if only you are fortunate to get it right but remember you stand the chance of deflecting part of the convergence rays away from the focal point where your lb can catch the full signals coming from the surface of your dish.

guys, just tilt it open a little and watch the your signal strength grow from 45%-90%
NOTE----tilt the right side,or the left depending on the side that give u the highest signal,before you use the pliers use your fingers to do it first after when you have gotten the right side you can use the pilers ,

Are you sure that dish is OK .you need not tilting your dish at any point except if the dish is defect.
A good dish should be pointed directly to your desired satellite and gives good signal.

guys i think super sport is in trouble,i was just trying to track MBC Rodriguez with my 90cm and when i hid green thou it was 39%-76% not stable,i was not happy so i decided to turn my dish to 7°W and look at my decoder and find Eutelsat7°W,and i say let me see a little touch downwards i hit green and i decided to blind scan(forgotten the tp,sorry guys but i we will find that bird)and boy there it was super sport live showing Newcastle match but i notice it crack a bit,i was using 90cm,i believe our gurus in the house have seen that bird,lets kill it with 1.8/2.8m dish

Well done that is a feed its there for two seasons ago.the audio is OK but the picture cracks like say tomorrow no dey.

The cost of caging is high no doubt about that diseases transmission is possible but not in all cases.most people who go for used cages don't have much capital and not big time farmer who can have access to big loan from banks .its good to start low and grow big .This is why I encourage made in Nigeria cages using readily available materials here in the country.
We only enrich the pocket of this chinko by going as far as China to buy cages and its accessories its high time we wake up from our slumbers and swing into action.we need cheap and affordable poultry equipment in Nigeria .

That is the reason why we need not depend too much on this so called white people.we need to embrace mechanisation and use science ,technology and engineering to develop our agric sector most especially cropping.we need to stop importations of some agric produce.This we encourage and improve local productions of soya , maize,ground but etc.

BBC is on satellite radio.we only focus on satellite TV here.

rm94: @obnelly you are right, something frightened them into stampeding. We have not discovered what it was. And there spacing is adequate in line with the standard and recommended spacing for layers in deep litter of 3-9 birds per meter square.
@condi thanks for the observation, i slept at the farm to keep vigil over the birds. But do mature feathered birds feel cold at night? Well the birds died in heaps at all the 4 corners of the pens. A pointer to stampede.

Check is their is any movable material or part in the farm that can be swing into movement when wind blows across the farm house.chickens are very sensitive to sudden movement.Also try and prevent the square edge.make it curve,if dog or cat is living close to your pen it could scare them and make them stampede on one another.since it happens over night why not provide electricity in the pen.

rm94: hello great poultry farmers, i have been following this thread for some time now though not actively. pls i have an issue i want the house to help me solve. i have been experiencing stampede in my layers' farm. i lost 125 POL birds in 1 week. 17 weeks old bird precisely. Kindly help proffer a solution to this crisis as the cause of the stampede is still unknown. i practise deep litter system. Dont mention cage because i dont av enuf fund for battery cage yet. tanx in anticipation of practical contributions.

I guess you have limited space for your birds also their is something that triggered the stampeding which could be sudden sharp sound around your poultry pen.
