PoliticsThe Buhari We Must Not Forget ::sharia by OboloMAN(op): 11:56am On Oct 16, 2014
e Buhari we must not forget
Lagos - A former military ruler of Nigeria ,
Muhammadu Buhari , has called for the
introduction of ' total ' Islamic law across the
country, reports said on Monday .

Buhari, who ruled Nigeria from a coup in
December 1983 to his ouster in 1985 , told a
seminar in Kaduna , northern Nigeria , at the
weekend that the strict Islamic law code known
as the Sharia should be introduced in full across
Nigeria .

"I will continue to show openly and inside me
the total commitment to the Sharia movement
that is sweeping all over Nigeria , " Buhari said,
quoted in press reports .

"God willing , we will not stop the agitation for
the total implementation of the Sharia in the
country, " Buhari said .

Northern Nigeria is mainly Muslim but southern
Nigeria is mainly Christian and has led criticism
of the introduction of Islamic law in a dozen
northern states in the past 18 months .

Africa' s most populous country has been shaken
repeatedly in the past by religious unrest. In
February 2000 between 2 000 and 3 000 people
were killed by Christian-Muslim riots in Kaduna
over the introduction of Sharia .

Call for Sharia across the country

Buhari' s comments were interpreted by the
southern- based papers as a call for the
imposition of Sharia all across the country, even
in the mainly Christian south .
" Buhari calls for Sharia in all states , " was the
headline of the respected newspaper The
Guardian.

Buhari' s comments were defended by supporters
as simply a call for the full implementation of
Sharia in areas where Muslims predominated .
But the comments are the second by Buhari that
have courted controversy after he called earlier
this year for Muslims to vote at the next
presidential elections only for someone who
would defend their faith.
This was criticised by the press as a call for
voting along religious lines, as well as an attack
on the current president , Olusegun Obasanjo,
who is a Christian.

Buhari made the latest comments at a seminar
organised by the Supreme Council for Sharia in
Nigeria , a newly set up body attended by
northern state governments and Islamic scholars.

" It is a legal responsibility which God has given
us , within the context of one Nigeria , to continue
to uphold the practice of Sharia wholeheartedly ,
and to educate non -Muslims that they have
nothing to fear , " he said .

" What remains for Muslims in Nigeria is for them
to redouble their efforts, educate Muslims on the
need to promote the full implementation of
Sharia law ," he went on . - AFP

(4)UTAGBA
The Utagba people are divided into two distinct towns and they are the largest Ndokwa community in terms of population. The original settlement is called Utagba Uno and its a federation of seven villages. The villages of Ikilibi and Etua migrated from Owere Olubor near Umunede ( meaning by implication they are of Ejeme-Isu stock ), while the other villages of Umusadege, Umuseti, Isumpe , Umusedeli , and Umusam also came from neighbouring Anioma communities like Nsukwa and Onicha Ukwuani. From Utagba Unor , one Ogbe led a group of Utagba people to a new site over 20 miles away and founded Utagba Ogbe thus the villages of Utagba Ogbe are similarly named after their kinsfolk at Utagba Uno thus there are Umusam, Umusadege, Umusadeli, Umuseti and Isumpe villages. The sixth village in Utagba Ogbe came from Adiai an Anioma town near Aboh. From Utagba Uno the village of Etua( which is by far the biggest sub clan ) arose the new and large settlement of Ndemili which is a few miles away from the Benin town of Urhonigbe. Etua people are also distinct from other Utagba people they are governed by Obis instead of the Okpala Uku which is common in most of Ndokwa land.

(5)NDONI
The name Ndoni comes from " Nde Onuiyi " or people settled at the mouth of the river The Ndoni clan the core area comprises of Ndoni main town and the village of Oniku( which is regarded as senior to Ndoni ). The ancestors of the Ndoni came from Utafa( Otapha ) in the Abua area of Rivers State. This claim is significant because the Abua are not really Ijaws. They are of Ibibio-Efik origin and moved westwards founding in the process the Obolo( or Andoni ) group. The Abua group also included the Odual and Ogbia. President Goodluck Jonathan is from Ogbia. They are not really Ijaws since their language is closer to what is spoken in Akwa Ibom/Cross River States. Later people from Aboh , Ase and Onyah origins in particular settled in the Ndoni area thus Ndoni is a blend of people of Anioma and Abua origins. Ethnographically, Ndoni people are of Ukwuani stock having been thoroughly assimilated over 400 years ago when they first arrived. Ndoni clan as defined today comprises of some 65 settlements and its one of the largest communities in Ndokwaland.

(6) ABBI and UMUKWATA
These are amongst the largest communities in Ndokwa land. The people of Abbi and Umukwata mainly descend from two brothers named Amacha( Abbi) and Ukwata( Umukwata). They originally came from Achalla near Awka in Anambra State and settled for a while in Aboh. Later they moved to their present sites. Later, in Abbi( there are originally two sections) a third section was founded by some hunters from Ani Ekei qtrs of Ubulu Uku( which is of Nri origin). From Abbi arose the ettlements of Umutu and Umuolu both are within Ndokwaland.

(7)ONICHA UKWUANI AND EMU CLANS
These two clans are closely related and they are both of Anioma( Enuani ) origin. The founder was one Onicha who came from Nsukwa. He founded what is now known as Onicha Ukwuani. One of his sons called " Olo " with hi wife called " Emu " moved further south and founded Emu clan. This is why they are often called Umuonicha clan. Alternative versions of their origin suggests that they came from Ogwashi Uku via Nsukwa.

(AMAI
The people of Amai descend from Amai an Elephant hunter from Igala land who settled in Aboh before moving to their present site. This is why Amai is attached to Aboh. Later some migrants from Ubulu Uku founded one of the qtrs called Umubu.

(9)UMUOKU and ONYAH clans
These two groups are related. They form part of the same migration from Amaegu( or Emegu or Egbu ) near Owerri. They arrived in about 1500. The group led by Oku founded Utuoku or Oku's bank along the Niger. From Utuoku , families began to migrate and they crossed the Niger founding the new settlement of Adiai near Ndoni. A war ensued between Adiai and Aboh people and for this reason a group moved to the town of Onitsha while another moved to found Ogbeani qtrs of Utagba Ogbe. Another group led by one Aka managed to cross the Niger to found the village of Adiai Obiaka. Adiai Obiaka is also called Adiawali because they settled west of the Niger away from their traditional homelands near Ndoni. The other Adiai villages include Utu, Utuechi and Obiofu and all are in Rivers state. Adiai land is richly endowed with oil both in Delta and Rivers State. The Umuoku , the three settlements Utuoku, Adiai and Adiawali are governed by Igwes.
What do you intend to achieve with this ?

To be honest, there is nothing bad or ugly that
has been said about him. Just that, some say he
is a "newcomer", which to me is immaterial if he
has the magic wand to take us to Uhuru. Without
much ado, he is also in the Guber race for the
Rivers 2015 Governorship under the People's
Democratic Party (the PDP).
Constitutionally, he is good to go from all I know.
Academically he sound enough to lead as well

The lawmakers also backed the adoption of

OIL RIVERS STATE IS A REALITY..

IJAWS ARE ONE
PoliticsRe: Creation Of "Oil River State" From Akwa-ibom And Rivers State by OboloMAN: 9:50am On Oct 16, 2014
the demand for
the creation of Oil Rivers State predates
the 2014 National Conference. It is
significant to note that the Ijaw people
through the Ijaw National Congress (INC)
demanded for three homogenous states
during the Babangida and Abacha eras to
wit: Bayelsa, Oil Rivers and Toru-Ebe
States. However, only Bayelsa State was
eventually created. And more recently,
when the National Assembly called for the
submission of memorandum for the
creation of states, the Ijaw people of Rivers
and Akwa Ibom states submitted a
memorandum for the creation of Oil Rivers
State which was signed by all the Local
Government Legislators, Houses of
Assemblies members and National
Assembly members of Ijaw extraction from
Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. This
requested was also presented before the
Senate Committee on the Review of the
1999 Constitution by the leaders of the
proposed Oil Rivers State in Calabar in
2012.
3. In any case Obong Victor Attah, Chief
Nduese Essien and others who signed the
petition against the creation of Oil Rivers
State lacks the locus to do so as the
proposed Oil Rivers State is only for the
Ijaw people and land inhabited by the Ijaw
people of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.
The petitioners are not part of the
proposed state, hence they lack the locus
to opposed the creation of Oil Rivers State.
Therefore, we call on the relevant
authorities to disregard the protest as the
proposed Oil Rivers State deserved to be
created on merit.
4. The IYC wish to make it abundantly
clear that anybody or group of people
opposing the creation of homogenous Ijaw
states for the Ijaw people of Akwa Ibom
and Rivers State on one hand, and the Ijaw
people of Delta, Edo and Ondo States on
the other hand are threats to the existence
of Ijaw people and we are ready to take
any step to protect our existence. The IYC
would not sit back and allow Ijaw people
to be politically and economically
oppressed and suffocated in Akwa Ibom,

CultureRe: Kalabari People! by OboloMAN: 1:01am On Oct 14, 2014
shota:
King Awome said to be from a splinter group spoke the same language with the ende ame people. The name Awome is a typical name of the Ende ame group as well. They were the KALABARI people documented as Calabar by the Portuguese and CALABAR was a proper spelling any Portuguese would give to any one calling himself KALABARI since in Portuguese the last consonant R is always pronounced.

Some facts of history dunces are not always able to put down is the history of OBU AMAFA where the Ende ame came from. Their father was Perebo KALABARI who was born in OBU AMAFA . Was Perebo KALABARI the only man in Obu AMAFA ? Who were the people of Obu amafa and what language did they speak ? What language was even the name PEREBO KALABARI ? who were his people and what language did he speak with his people ? How many children did he born ? Was ENDE his only child ? .. Some answers... THE PEOPLE OF OBU AMAFA were KALABARI people who spoke KALABARI dialect. The Perebo KALABARI phrase was not a name but a title. A title given to a wealthy KALABARI man whose father was a man from MEIN KINGDOM ( MEIN OWEI ). The Title PERE OF THE KALABARI in OBU AMAFA was shortened to PEREBO KALABARI. His name was not known.. Besides, the Kalabari people of OBU AMAFA, There were KALABARI people in other fishing settlements and the people met near Duke town were some KALABARI fishing group led by Owuere ye Daba who were documented as CALABAR people. Their neighbors were the Efik who were known as MBOKO at that time. Owuere ye Daba UTILIZED tHE RIVER CALABAR as his fishing creek and eventually met the AROCHUKWU IGBOS at the source of the River. He became the middle man supplying ARochukwu Igbos to the Portuguese where the ARO CHUKWU long juju cult played some part. The Portuguese were only interested in slaves and so they never even settled on land. The arrival of the Dutch made things ugly for the Owuere ye Daba group . They Owuere ye Daba group then abandoned the area and moved back to their traditional home land. The same people founded settlements like Nkoro and the Obolo Ijaws. The Nkoro were some of the Koro ame whose name was dulterated to be Nkoro by the AROCHUKWU IGBOS among them .The Obolos were some of the Koro ame who decided to settle among Ibibio fishing parties. The same people met the ANDONI who they called IDONI and the ANYA APU who were the AYAMA Andonis. Many of them also settled in Okoloma settlement while the rest managed to get to Elem KALABARi that was called TORUSARAMA PIRI At Torusarama piri were different Ijaw groups who were living along wards where each wARD WAS MADE UP OF PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT IJAW SETTLEMENTS like KE, BILLE, ABISSE, IFOKO and so on.. The Ende ame did not found Torusarama piri. They went and met other Ijaws living along wards and became part of them. So the ENDE AME met an organized settlement . The Koro ame led by Owuere ye daba brought the AMAYANABO system and the EKINE cult to the place . The SELEYE FUBARA was a priest of the EKINE cult and a member of the Koro ame. It is the same Seleye fubara that gave birth to JACK RICH whose mother was a Bille woman said to be a daughter of the Bille leader at that time.. AMAKIRI became king at the time the ENGLISH were about to start the indirect rule colonization system in the later 1600s. The same time King Perekule of Bonny was also appointed. The various clans were assigned by the English to the new kings for administartive purpose. All the clans EAST of the river KALABARI was to be under King Perekule While all the CLANS West of the river was to be under King Amakiri. In essence it was the English that established the various kingdoms of Bonny and KALABARI for administrative purpose. The refusal of Perekule to accept the demarcation led to the wars as Perekule chose to use force to take some Territories from Amakiri .

That was why all the clans like IFOKO, KE, ABISSE, KULA et all that speak the same dialect easily became under AMAKIRI while Bille refused.

You ll understand that even in BONNY kingdom, all the settlements are not of one source. The Finima were existing as Nyakpo before the Okoloma led by ALAGBARIGHA was founded by the Alagbarigha people who lived at Orupiri within the same geography.. The Orupiri people themselves may even be part of the OBU AMAFA Ijaws that had left earlier . Parts of Ancient Ifoko and Ke founded the ancient now Ibani settlements of Fibiri and Kuruama that are seen by the Ibanis as ancient historical settlements.

Amakiri came out from the Kalagbea house-hold quite , correct but the Kalagbea had taken over leadership from the Koroame because more than 60% of the Koroame had been annihilated by the Okrikas during the invasion of Old CALABARI ( Kalabari ) by the Okrikas that also resulted in the death of the King . That was what led to the end of the Owuere ye Daba dynasty of which King Awome was part of. During when the ENGLISH WANTED A LEADER FROM TORUSARAMA PRI. The Koro ame house contested believing they were the bona fide people to produce the leadership since they started it on arrival . But the Ende ame group insisted they would produce the leader and so there was a tussle and a contest supervised by the ENGLISH.. It is said Seleye Fubara was too young to represent the Koroame at that time so an elder from the Koroame house called Ogborigbo was selected . Amakiri beat him and his neck was cut off during the contest. The cutting off of Ogborigbo's head is still performed in form of a display to prove victory during the selection of a new AMAYANABO till today. But a Goat is used in place of a human being to perform the SIBI PELE ( cutting off of Ogborigbo's head ) . Amakiri was chosen and he became the new leader of the Ijaws of that axis. the ADOPTION OF KALABARI to call the entire axis was accepted by all the leaders of the various clan .

Andoni Ethnic Nationality sadOBOLO As we love to be called)
......
The Andoni (Obolo) people are among the first group of people to develop a strong ethnic identity in the Niger Delta.
They speak the Obolo language and share common boundries with the bonnys ,ogonis, okrikas, kalabaries, ibibios in akwa ibom state and Opobos(established on andoni land in 1869)
......
Historically they dominated the fishing industry of the coastal waters of niger delta and were among the first to come in contact with the europeans.
.......
Although 40% of the oil revenues in rivers and akwa_ibom state are gotten from andoni land. The Obolo people have been neglected by succesive governments. As the area is still begging for development and government presence.
