Rexyl: Today's topic: Help with the Life's Direction. We should listen to God and allow Him to direct our paths. The Bible teaches that God will direct our paths , but we don't often get step-by-step directions. God has plan for everyone of us but our ability to live according to it depends on choices we are making. Life becomes easier and more convenient if a believer follows God's plan and allows His Spirit to direct him in all his ways. God has plan for us and He is committed to fulfilling His will for our lives. Proverbs 3: 5,6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths. This lesson wants us to examine the followings: God has a plan, discover God's plan, and live according to God's plan.

God has a plan for us and the plan begins prior to birth Psalm 135: 15 &16. Some people take this truth to an extreme, which makes them believe that their days are already ordained and whatever they can achieve is predetermined, and they stop taking responsibility for their actions and choices. God has plan for us but He wants us to discover it. When God calls a person for His purpose He equips him. He Chose Jeremiah before he was born as His prophet and when it was the time to do the work He called and equipped him.

Just like Jeremiah did (Jeremiah 1:6) we can easily state excuses which are a cover for our fear and unwillingness to surrender ourselves to God's plan. God wants us to discover what He wants us to do with our skills and abilities, and the moment we are on course He will equip us.

We are to discover God's plan and develop discipline by which we can live for Him. Proverbs 3:3-8 provides the basics for doing this: Christians should show mercy/love and be truthful. Also, they must trust in God and accept the fact that His ways are better than the ways of man. Placing the ways of man against the ways of God results in a clash between human wisdom and godly wisdom. It is by godly wisdom that Christians have discovered that 90% with God goes farther than 100% of man.

While godly wisdom encourages us to treat others the ways we want to be treated, human wisdom calls for a reaction in similar ways others have done to us. Christians should develop humility and godly fear. We should not allow pride to come in to override the grace God has deposited in us. Pride leads to foolish and sinful choices, but with the fear of God you will make choices that honor Him, and which will contribute to righteous living and well-being.

The Bible encourages us to lay the foundation of good Christian characters which will help us in taking steps for discovering God's plan for our lives.(Romans 12:1-2; James 3:13-18). It is Christ-centered life that leads to greater understanding of God's plan for our lives because it provides ways God wants us to respond to situations in life.

God wants us to live a Christ-centered life if really we are to live according to His plan. Apostle Paul stated that life was about serving Christ and knowing him better so that when death came he would be with him (Philippians 1:20-21). He reveals that living to God's plan is a choice which may mean giving up certain important things for one to follow God's plan and have deeper relationship with Him for greater gains (Philippians 3:7-14). Our lives should bring glory to Christ and draw us closer to him for the greater gains. May God help. • Lesson tutor for WAEC and NECO GCE (moderate fee: just N300 per hour per person )
