A fairer approach would be to close the deal - on the basis of a commission. Wouldn't you agree?

To buttress this a bit further - YES, it might be a 50/50 - but, to give yourself a fighting chance - it is best to go with EMDs that have versatile variables... This is to say - if oga X doesn't buy it, Mr. Y or Uncle Z would likely come for it sometime in the future...

Don't "gamble" blindly...

Someone earlier commented on this, and gave some very good advice. In addition to what was said, when choosing a niche/geo take a sec to analyze what that particular service is doing (in that city) on Google trends... Some cities have a good market for some services, while others don't.

When a sale is reported for an xyz service, don't assume its gonna sell in similar manner for you across board... Here's an assignment that (might) help turn your fortunes...
Pick like 4 or 5 service keywords...(study them) Have a clear picture of what cities/regions that patronize such services. Have a clear knowledge of what wording people associate with such service in their searches...Master this, and then (along with the requisite geo domaining knowledge you already have) you can start fishing out names from ED or even coin out sellable names on your own.

2 other important factors (Pricing & Patience) ... Be realistic with your pricing and have a VERY healthy dose of patience in this game.

I'm not speaking as a "guru" -NO! I'm speaking from the standpoint of someone who genuinely feels your plight & would love to hear your testimonies in a very short while.

Thanks Bro...I contacted end-users with similar domains / names. The list wasn't much, and was done on Linkedin. In fact, I connected with 1 end-user directly with my 9ja acct (as I couldn't get an email). In total, I'd say I reached over 60 folks (plus, followed-up).

My pricing was pegged that way cos someone here once stated that you can't get offered $x,xx if you don't "ask" for it! @Budosky(or so...)

The rationale for buying the name was because (to me) - it's a popular American name. Outside of that, there wasn't anything special about the name. Its been sitting at ED for long before I picked it. (Truth is, it was a gamble... a few similar names I picked along-side this, have TOTALLY flopped!) las las, na God dey send buyer...Its not by might!

click on manage domain, then check/click on the box behind the domain you want to delete, then click on bulk, it will bring out a drop down, then click on "new domains" then click on "request delete" then click on yes.

Note; they will deduct $3 and the registration date isn't more than 5days.

Within the 60day restriction period, all you can do is a "push"...(the buyer still gets the name essentially).
*After the 60days, you're free to run your transfers to other registrars without hiccups...

*check the initial pages 1-100 (you'd see a thing or 2 about it there).

NB: 60days or no 60days (this shld not worry you) Haven't you seen peeps on here selling their names within " hours" of registering? So, regarding your question - let your broker deal with it. This is where running the transaction thru Dan comes in handy. iMHO
(The other marketplaces are cool ooo - don't get me wrong, but for me - Dan gives me joy with their classy after-sales service)
