finally all the youwin connect winners in this forum can attest and confirm what I posted about the mission,aims and objectives of setting the youwin connect program basically it is for capacity building (training). but any good profit viable business plan shall be linked to fund managers.I will advise you to put up a high profit oriented d bizness plan because not all your biz plan submission will be taken by fund managers. every investors will want to invest in a profitable bizness with a short time breakeven period at most within 1-3years. In my opinion as a facilitator in the youwin connect 2017, the YouWiN Connect is deliberately not saying much about the funding aspect of the YouWiN! Connect. It is so that they can attract more Nigerians who are sincerely interested in starting or growing their businesses. this is because any such persons would also be interested in every aspect of their business and not just funding. It is also an attempt to disabuse the minds of an average Nigerian SME that funding is not the most important factor in business growth. Capacity development, which is more of what YouWiN! Connect is doing through most of its programme, is even more important than funding.
Having said these, I want to assure you that YouWiN Connect has funding SMEs as part of its core objectives. However this time, they have not called it ‘Grant’ but ‘Series Fund’.

What this implies is that the fund coming from YouWiN Connect this time is neither a grant nor a loan, but an equity investment. This is a modern international standard unique form of business financing that makes the fund provider an investor/shareholder in the business they are financing/funding.
Let me help you understand these terminologies and their implications properly as regards business financing.

TV News in Core News, Headlines on June 28, 2016 at 02:31 pm The Federal Government is set to start consultations with beneficiaries and other stakeholders on the restructuring and refocusing of the multi-billion Naira Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) programme with the objective of injecting new ideas for its sustainability. The Federal Ministry of Finance, which has been running the programme from inception, has scheduled the consultation for July 22, 2016 in Abuja, where representatives of the beneficiaries drawn from the six-geo-political zones and other stakeholders would chart a way forward for the programme. Under the programme which took off in 2011, a total of 18, 000 young entrepreneurs have been trained in various aspects of Small and Medium Enterprises management and business skills; and 3, 900 of them, including 1, 200 women, were each given non-repayable take-off grants for businesses of their choice ranging from N1 million up to a maximum of N10 million. The third edition of the programme, which is still running with 1,500 beneficiaries, has received the sum of N11.2 billion in funding, and so far grants totaling N7.4 billion have been disbursed to the awardees. In June 2016 alone, the sum of N1.687 billion was paid to 638 awardees. Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, says that as part of the change agenda of the current administration, the YouWin programme has to be restructured to ensure efficiency, transparency and accountability in investing the capital grants given to the beneficiaries by the Federal Government. Adeosun confirmed that all FG commitments under the YouWIN programme will be fully met, but due diligence would be carried out on every beneficiary, using tools like the Bank Verification Number (BVN), and before disbursements.

Compilation of awardees in these banks is currently being done to effect outstanding payments 3. 3rd tranche payments are being processed. Payments should commence on/before month end April 30, 2016, depending on your bank.

i know 3 awardees friends that were visited in South East b4 Easter break(one is located in Ebonyi,the other two are located in Anambra State). they were all doing well....only one complained they querried him of not invoicing all transactions. i believe Youwin secretariat must have completed the spot checks.Though they assurred them of paying 3rd tranche soon(no expected date )
