With a real practical skills in MS Office suite, and may be some desktop graphic design tools, one is fully computer literate.

Now, for your candidate on the interview line whose degree is in Computer science, that is understandable, in fact, it is unforgivable for him not to be proficient in advanced technical skills, with one or two certifications to boot, but for every other class of job seekers who necessarily do not have any need for these advanced skills, it is a complete waste of money, and I am talking with experience.
Let's say for example, one aspiring for the job of a sales executive, customer service, medical representative, and the likes, what exactly will he do with skills in advanced programing and Data Base management on the job?

Some learnt Oracle, Quickbooks, etc Yet they can't correctly place their fingers on a keyboard. Some cannot type 1000 words in 30 minutes.

Employing an office secretary who learnt all the complex and 'sophisticated' softwares, without a sound understanding of basic formatting tools on a Microsoft Word app is SENSELESS.

I'd rather employ a sound and fast typist, than a sophisticated Cisco holder. Overall, it all depends on the role and nature of your job.

Personally, I have no regard for all these 3 days & 1 week certifications. I spent 3 months learning MsWord, Excel & PowerPoint. Some of you PMP/Quickbook holders earned your certification after a 6hour weekend training.

No mind d op he shld jst go ahead and advertise his computer center. He shld come and define computer literacy 2 us.
