It's either he was hit meaning he was flying too low(which is unlikely since it was a night operation) or the Aircraft itself developed a technical fault midair(most likely). It's high time we ground or phase out the Alpha jets or use them & do trade by barter with any country that will give us infantry hardwares or spare parts etc. We kuku no get pass two currently that are operational, the JF 17s & the Tucanos will fill the void.

I'm still a fan of the Alpha Jets; 'so much combat history in those platform, but maybe it's time we consider the Yak-130/Armechi M-346 as possible replacements.

It was a typo. I meant to say "Ukraine won't be admitted into NATO until it has met certain conditions.

Russia has tried to join NATO on two occasions in the past, but it was rejected. Russia tried to join in 1954 and in 1991. You can google it if you doubt me.

When Russia proposed to join NATO in 1954 and was rejected, it formed the Warsaw Pact.

Okay, my bad. I stand corrected.

Civil engineering what? That's like the most useless engineering course. That and petroleum engineering I don't know which is more useless.

One of the MOST USEFUL engineering course in Nigeria, even today, is Civil Engineering. Have we stopped building and maintaining roads, bridges, housing, water treatment systems, large facilities/office spaces, schools, etc? Even facilities like tank farms, FPSOs, etc require Structural Engineers. Civil Engineering is one of those few Engineering courses that empowers graduates to stand on their own. Personally, with hindsight now I probably would've chosen Civil Engineering or Architecture. I encourage anyone interested in the course to read it.

You don't understand my point. I'm saying Russia is punching below her weight considering the technological prowess of the country. Russia should be at least in the top 5 economies.

There is absolutely no reason the UK, France,Canada and about 8 other countries should have a bigger economy to Russia. Russia is far technologically superior to all these countries.
The problem with Russia lies in their leadership. You have Putin who has ruled Russia for about 23 years and counting whose idea of power is just weapons upon weapons that are never going to be used. A different leader other than Putin would probably have a different view and prioritize economic power over military power like China did. You can see how powerful China has become today.

I'm of the opinion that you either practice true democracy and get the dividends or go full autocratic like China and get the reward. This Russian democracy is not helping them at all.
Democracy was designed in such a way that gives room for variety of ideas and views.

When you change leaders, there is a possibility of changing views as the new leader implements what he thinks it's best for the country. Imagine that Buhari will be president for the next 20 years, we are going to be talking about cows and grazing cos that is what he cares about most. But at least we can put our hope that all this cow talk will end in the next 2 years rather than 20 years.Putin is obsessed with military and weapons and that has been his interest since the beginning and it won't change.

Russia can be bigger economically than it is now but she needs a different kind of leader in other to make it happen. Putin tried for Russia in the beginning but I don't think he has any other thing to offer Russia apart from testing weapons.

Fair enough.

Guess the country that's sanctioning Russia, North Korea, Iran, China without retaliation??
I'm bringing you facts you're talking about movies.
When the F-117 stealth aircraft was fielded, what was other country flying??
When the U2 supersonic spy plane was used to spy on Russia. What did they do, rush to make a supersonic intercept that crashes once you put on the afterburn that the aircraft was called "The Widow Maker".

When someone is dropping facts because its pro-America you assumed it's all Hollywood.
Around early 2000 when the drone fighters wasn't even a thing, the US already produced and flew two unmanned aircraft that were autonomous. They went into a simulated battle field on their own and made decision on their own (XB-45).
Or should I take about how the US has already flew their Skybord AI in an aircraft already.

Just because you're anti-American doesn't mean everything American is Hollywood. Get real.

Go and read on the Vietnam and Korean War because what you wrote up there just shows you don't even know what you're saying. only saying what you heard somewhere.
The thing is if you want to know, any war that's not directly affecting America loses support back home the longer it drags on. The day any of those countries you felt made America run away thinks they have arrived, they should directly or indirectly bomb America herself and claim responsibility. Then we'll talk.

The F-117? The same stealth plane that the Serbians shot down with a Russian SA-2 SAM system? Oh btw the Russians did not field any stealth aircraft, but they fielded impressive platforms like the Su-27 Flankers and MIG-29 Fulcrums, plus Su-24s and Su-25s.

And you talk about American supersonic flights ( I guess you're referring to the SR-71 Blackbird). Now I don't know which Russian bird you refer to the "widow maker", but the primary bird for supersonic intercepts, the Mig 25 Foxhound, still flies till TODAY, and is not some push-over bird.

Lol. Another nonsense! US and it's allies couldn't win the Korea war. Was it North Korea or China that won the war? Don't forget the war started when North Korea invaded the South. The US and it's allies pushed North Korea out of South Korea and after the end of the war, the South gained more territory from the North, coupled with massive destruction and death recorded in North Korea due to massive aerial bombardment of the North by the US and it's allies.

The USSR you are trying to hype, was it not the same USSR that was bloodied by Afghanistan in the Soviet-Afghan war? They had to pull out of Afghanistan after suffering a lot of casualties and it contributed to the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

You said the US always comes to her allies aid only if it's against a powerless country. Can you please tell me a powerful Country that has attacked a US ally and the US was afraid of defending such allies?

Point of correction on the Korean War: South Korea did not win more territory after the war. Yes the US-led United Nations force indeed pushed the NK forces beyond the 38th parallel towards the Yalu river. It was the Chinese military that then pushed the UN forces back from the Yalu river down back to the 38th parallel, inflicting massive damage on the Americans. A stalemate then followed before the armistice was signed at the DMZ, again near the 38th Parallel. South Korea won no new territory.

Yeah, about the 2nd world war, the USA did not "single handedly" win the war. Hitler lost that war for one major blunder: he created a 2nd front i e. the Eastern front. That was the beginning of his downfall. It was even the Russians that captured Berlin FIRST and raised the Soviet flag on the Reichstag, plus the capture of the Wolflair/Hitler's bunker. Keep in mind that the Americans entered WW2 quite late. I will give them props for the war in the Pacific against the Japanese Empire though.

Always testing weapons that are never used. What is the essence of all these brouhaha?

Russia needs a smart 21st century leader that would harness their technological prowess into economic products like China because that is where the power is not weapons. Very soon they would start playing second fiddle to China as China is becoming a bigger power than them.

Imagine Russia with all this technological brain is no where near being in the top 10 economy. I find it ridiculous that Canada of 37m people has a bigger economy than Almighty Russia because they have a leader for the past 20 years whose only idea of power is to produce weapons upon weapons that won't ever be used.

They should emulate China

You probably need to read up on the Russian Tech scene. You're talking about the global leader in technologies like space payload delivery, data security, aerospace tech (especially engine design and manufacture) etc. They're even incorporating Russian chips in Russian computing, although they still can't compete with those from China, USA, Taiwan, and Korea....yet. China's the world's global tech leader, but the Russian Federation is definitely no push-over.

Uncle is only powerful against 3rd countries.
When Uncle Sam push Georgia to attack ethic Russians in Georgia, Russia almost finished Georgia for that.
It’s took the good relationship Between Merkel and Putin with Medv and Former French President to make Russia troops stopped at Gori.
Russia navy blocked the Georgia sea port and took all Georgia ships and all the Uncle Sam equipments that they gave Georgia.
All the years of training the USA gave Georgia troops and all the promises disappear when Russia bombing started and that’s the reason Georgia can’t tried that nonsense again

People seem to have forgotten that the Russian Federation is not some 3rd world power, but a first world global super power that can cause a whole lot of damage. The pro-wedtern supporters seem to have forgotten about the Georgian-Ossetian war were the Georgians with their American tech and weapons got raped by Russian military. It took a lot of "abeg" that stopped the Russian advance from steam-rolling over Tblisi were the Georgian President already had a mental breakdown and was chewing his own ties.

Even the Ukrainians should've learnt from their recent conflict in the Donbass region/Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. Crimea fell to the Russian military without a single shot fired and the Ukrainians got their collective butts handed to them when Russians intervened indirectly in Eastern region. If they think NATO will save them, they're in for another rude awakening. They should go and watch what Russia's doing in Syria.

I respectfully disagree with the OP...at least to some extent. I'll advise anyone, irrespective of background, to study a professional course that will enable them stand on their own when the jobs are not there. In my opinion, Medicine & Surgery, Pharmacy, Accountancy, Engineering, Computer Science, and Law are very good choices. I'll even go on to add the Agricultural Sciences.

With respect to the OP's point on Engineering, he's absolutely right though about Electrical & Electronics + Computer Engineering. Information Tech and Communication is key now. Equally throw in IoT, Electric Vehicles, Autonomous systems, Artificial Intelligence, SMART grids and cities. Add to that microelectronics is making a MAJOR come back with the present shortage of chips globally and the ongoing battle for supremacy between east and west. EE engineering, Compt Engineering, and COMPUTER SCIENCE will play major roles now and into the future. As for Petroleum Engineering, frankly I think the course is a dead one, especially when countries are now dumping fossile fuel for other forms of energy (solar, geothermal, wind, etc). You only have to look at the trend now globally with IOCs selling off their assets, plus the job cuts. But I respectfully disagree on Civil and Mechanical Engineering as they both remain OVER-RELEVANT, especially with the dearth of infrastructure in the country (roads, ports, airports, bridges, power dams, housing, etc), and the urgent need to provide these. I encourage young ones to delve into these courses, irrespective of their economic backgrounds as they will definitely pay off. Just avoid courses like Chemical Engineering, Textile, Materials and Metallurgical, or any course that restricts you.
