joyandfaith: Sweden and Finland have always been NATO leaning. Even Putin wasn't moved by their decision to make the relationship with the alliance formal as it was no surprise at all. Even at that, the Swedes have said they won't allow NATO station missiles on their territory. So it's all good. 1 Like |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Ukrainians Trapped In "Death Tunnels" In Kherson: How The Russians Ambushed Them by ocelot2006(m): 6:13pm On Sep 04, 2022 |
The Kherson Counter-offensive and the ZNPP special operations will forever be studied in military academies across the globe as great Ukrainian clusterf@#ks and how to play the deception game: Russian style. When I argued that the Russians were extremely quick learners of history and tactics, a number of folks laughed. Now same Russians are using Mongolian style tactics to show the western trained Ukrainians shege. NATO countries should really be scared and review their battalion/brigade level tactics. |

BentizilL: My brother, it is the winter season I'm waiting to watch. Western Europe has already seen a number of it's govts removed (UK, Italy) with some like France loose it's majority. I'm willing to bet that it will get way worse when the hardship becomes totally unbearable (extremely high energy bills, high inflation rate, and probably a recession). In the USA, I honestly don't see the Democratic Party survive the midterm elections. 1 Like |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Are Russians Embarrassed By How Pathetic They Have Become? by ocelot2006(m): 4:55pm On Sep 04, 2022 |
Let's see....the Russian military, despite facing a near-peer adversary heavily armed, funded, and supported by NATO and a host if very rich and powerful countries, is still advancing in Ukraine taking territory and decimating the Ukrainian military. By the side, Russia's making a tonne of money from energy sales, is leading in the economic war against it, and has survived failed attempts to isolate it globally. So please, tell me..how "pathetic" have the Russians become? 2 Likes |

okeysoninv: I'm not sure you're following the news from the Kherson front. Kherson?? Where the Ukrainians have already been routed with a part of the main forces trapped at the other side of the Inhulets river as the Russian AIR FORCE with Su-34 fighter bombers kept dropping FAB-500 bombs, destroying the Ukrainians pontoon bridges, while Russian ground forces crossed same river and then flanked the Ukrainians at their left. Same Kherson offensive that the Ukrainians can't even provide their troops a decent air cover while the Russians shot down about Ukrainian Mig-29s and a Mi-8 Hip Helo. Meanwhile the Russians are still flying CAS sorties almost everyday with Su-25 Floggers and Ka-52 Alligators with little to no competition from the Ukrainians. And it's not just Kherson but Zaporozhye also where Russian Army Aviation countered 2 disastrous Commando assaults launched by the Ukrainians. As for Kiev, the Russians will face little or nothing there. The Russians have proven that they can reach out and touch Kiev with not just cruise missiles, but bomber strikes. For now, the focus is the eastern and southern fronts, not Kiev. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Russia Turns Off Nord Stream Pipeline Supplying Gas To Europe, Cites "Oil Leak" by ocelot2006(m): 4:15pm On Sep 04, 2022 |
Zimzy: No one is saying that Europe will die or something, but this winter is likely to be brutal. Keep in mind that the decision of Russia has spiked up gas prices in Europe way beyond $2500 pcm. That means utility prices go up in western Europe, along with prices of everything else leading to a nasty inflation. Already a number of European countries are experiencing double digit inflation, and Germany, Europe's economic power house, is about to enter a recession (that's if they haven't). Too add to their problems, the high gas costs means that production costs for goods and services in Europe are equally up, making them far less competitive compared to what comes out of China and India. Putin truly played his cards right and the winners are not just Russia, but equally China and India. Hell, China is now an energy exporter! It buys cheap Russian energy and resells it to Europe at a higher markup! 1 Like |

okeysoninv: The Russians have been flying combat sorties over Ukraine and have even increased it to over 200 a day. RuAF Su-25 Rooks and Army Aviation Ka-52s have been flying combat sorties, yet no challenge from Ukranian Air force. Let the Ukrainians fly further east, and they'll know that RuAF Flankers plus S-400 platforms ain't joking. Even at the battlefronts in the south at Kherson, the Russians are just smacking down Ukrainian platforms here and there. As for Kiev, all the Russians have to do is fly in their Mig-31s, and fire off their Khinzal hypersonic missiles at select targets. Better still send in Rooks from Belarus for SEAD ops over and around Kiev, then send in Tu-22s bombers or Su-34 fighter-bombers to drop their payloads on top of Kiev. 9 Likes |

Politics / Re: Arrogant Wike Thinks PDP Can't Win Osun Without Him by ocelot2006(m): 10:38am On Jul 17, 2022 |
What's all this hatred against Wike? Keep in mind that the PDP really needs Rivers State's massive voting base during the Presidential elections and Wike is the main key to achieving that. Besides the success at Osun had more to do with the candidate Adeleke who has always been a favourite. That said, congratulations to the PDP. 2 Likes |

jimetagambo: Of course, the AU will meet with Putin. After all, the organization equally represents Northern African countries like Egypt, Tunisia, etc, which rely considerably on wheat. But the fact remains that Sub-Sharan Africa is NOT dependent on wheat-based meals. How many of us eat spaghetti, pastries, or macaroni? There are even many alternatives to semolina like garri, fufu, plantain flour, etc. It would've been a different case if it was rice, but wheat?? C'mon! |
