[quote author=mohince post=50259854]Introduction She was very shy and described as a ‘retiring woman’. Yet, this graceful lady who did much of her activity in the background exerted her influence on Nigeria’s most powerful man for 20 months. This is the story of Safinatu, the first wife of President Muhammadu Buhari. BIRTH, EARLY DAYS AND BACKGROUND A Fulani by ethnicity, the late Hajia Safinatu was born on the 11 th of December, 1952 in Jos, Plateau State into a family of 13 children, to Alhaji Yusufu Mani and Hajia Hadizatu Mani. Her mother, Hajia Hadizatu, gave birth to seven out of the 13 children. She is a native of Mani Local Government in Katsina State. EDUCATION She was well-educated and was so literate that she could read and write in Arabic, being well-grounded in Islamic education. She attended the Women Teacher’s Training College in Katsina where she obtained her Grade II Teachers Certificate in 1971. FALLING IN LOVE Safinatu was 14 years old in 1966 when she met her husband for the very first time. Buhari, then a young major in the Nigerian Army, had paid a visit to the house of Safinatu’s father in the company of his friend, the late Major-General Shehu Musa Yar’adua. They had both gone to see Safinatu’s father, Alhaji Yusufu Mani, who was working in Lagos then as the Private Secretary to Alhaji Musa Yar’adua, the Minister of Lagos Affairs in the Federal Cabinet of the First Republic. Shehu Musa Yar’adua and Umaru Musa Yar’adua (later President of Nigeria) were sons of Alhaji Musa Yar’adua. What happened during the first visit to Alhaji Mani’s house must have been spectacular because immediately the young major Buhari set his eyes on Safinatu, he was struck by the arrows of Cupid. That was not going to be the last visit to the house of Safinatu’s house. Buhari would later pay numerous subsequent onibaranbolebo visits to the family and like play like play, the two started exchanging letters. With time, both fell in love and they could court for four years and the two love birds would eventually decide to take their relationship to the next level. MARRIAGE An interesting thing about Buhari’s relationship with Safinatu was that shortly after the two met, the Nigerian Civil War started in 1967 and Buhari was deployed to the battlefields. This was one of the most tense periods in the life of Safinatu and she would later reveal that she was always worried during the war about the welfare of her lover and would ceaselessly pray for him. In 1971, with the war over, the two lovebirds decided to seal it and they got married. Thus, all through the war, while Buhari was on the battlefield combating Biafran rebels, his heart was not only burning with the love of Nigeria, it was also burning for a young beautiful Fulani girl named Safinatu. She was 18 when they got married. OP I have reservations for your calling the people of the southeast " Biafran rebels". Be well informed and guided! |
dullard government. I trust the USA govt. they don't negotiate with terrorists. they use their military prowess |

And that is how the international community will stay glued to their 52inches LED watching as Nigeria's Red Chamber is turned into a House Of Chaos and a House of Open threats. Those senators shouting and trying to fight it out in the Senate, I guess they don't know the effect on Nigeria's international image. Well, I am happy that to impeach the President is next to impossible due to the procedures for such. If Saraki and Ekweremadu are been tried In the law courts, they should go and prove themselves not guilty and not trying to organise senators to act out their cause in public. I am an Igbo man, for those Igbos saying the Dino Melaye faction is right in their threats because Ekweremadu is the deputy Senate president next to Saraki, I am ashamed of u all. So because of this ur bias thought, notable politicians shouldnt answer to the law? #WatchingNigeria# #ChildishRedCarpetSenators# |

The Moon-Sight Tales In anticipation that the moon would be sighted on Monday, the Federal Government declared Tuesday and Wednesday as Public Holiday for the celebration of Eid-el fitr to mark the end of Ramadan fast. However, when the moon could not be sighted on Monday night, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, in his capacity as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, directed that the Ramadan fast continues on Tuesday. With that also, the federal government extended the holiday till Thursday with all the implications for the economy. However, since Nigerians are very good at laughing at their problems, there were all manner of “newspaper headlines” about the situation like; • Blame APC for allowing Fulani herdsmen to kill the moon—Ayo Fayose • Until we restructure the galaxy, there will be no moon in Nigeria—Afenifere • The problem arose because budget for the moon was padded—Udo Udoma • The North owns the moon and will decide when it can be sighted—ACF • There is no single Igbo man in the moon sighting committee—Ohanaeze • Under the last government, moon sighting was job for the boys—Babachir Lawal • To address the problem, the CBN will release a flexible moon-sighting window—Godwin Emefiele • Commonsense should tell us we cannot continue to rely on foreign moon. Nigeria must develop its own moon—Ben Bruce • Saraki, Ekweremadu will be arraigned for forging moon sighting rules—Uba Malami • INEC hereby declares the sighting of the moon inconclusive—Mahmoud Yakubu • EFCC will soon name the politicians who collected N99.9 billion to loot the moon—Ibrahim Magu • Sabotage of gas pipelines responsible for not sighting the moon—Babatunde Fashola, SAN • There was no transparency in the way the moon was sighted—Waziri Adio • Sheriff encouraged Boko Haram to lock the moon at PDP secretariat—Ahmed Makarfi • Buhari should probe Amaechi over the missing moon—Nyesom Wike • The anomaly in the crescentic illumna of the moon in the atmospheric galaxy is tantamount to more crinkum crankum—Patrick Obahiagbon • The APC will soon create another moon for Nigerians—John Oyegun • We blew up the moon and we will blow up more moons—Niger Delta Avengers • Nigerians are so fantastically corrupt that they can’t even see the moon—David Cameron • The last administration embezzled the money meant for the maintenance of the moon—Lai Mohammed • We have arrested and detained all the IPOB members who stole the moon—DSS • We will go on strike if moon is not found within 24 hours—ASUU President • The disappearance of the moon will soon be a thing of the past—T. Y. Buratai • The decision to hide the fact that the moon was actually sighted on Monday is part of the grand conspiracy to prolong the Sallah holiday in order to Islamise Nigeria—CAN |
I have kept wondering if I am the only one who ever gets charged or overcharged by Firstbank for irrelevant and unknown transactions. Just two days ago, I was charged NGN208 for " SMS alert charges" and then just this evening I got another message which reads "Your Acct 306XXXX... Has Been Debited with NGN1,978.40 On 03-JUL-2016 19:08:49 By Account Maintenance Fee June-2016...." and not up-to a minute later another message came which reads "Your Acct 306XXXX... Has Been Debited with NGN98.92 On 03-JUL-2016 19:08:49 By VAT on Account Maintenance Fee June-2016....." That brings a total charge of not less than NGN2,000. I think I should just go ahead and close the account after withdrawing everything inside. please NLs is there a way to rectify this or is it their way of defrauding innocent citizens? |
too much of religious affiliation and participation makes one suspect every new ideology. |
The Niger Delta Avengers released a statement on their website this afternoon appealing to other militant groups fighting for the region, not to attack or harass oil workers or any soldier. In the statement which was signed by their spokesperson, Brig.Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, the group said militants should be careful not to offend God as they try to liberate the people of the region. Read the statement below ... "Good Afternoon Niger Deltans. The liberation of the Niger delta people has taken a new swing with the daily emergence of new groups all over the region. The avengers are calling on all groups in the region to be strong and resolute as it is obvious that God is on our side. The groups are much now both real and unreal but if you really fighting for the liberation of the Niger delta people. The high command of the avengers is calling on you not to attack any soldier and those claiming to have anti aircraft missiles should deist from targeting any aircraft. Let us be careful not offend God in the process of trying to liberate our people from the shackles of the Nigerian government because we need God more than anything right now. We also need the international communities as well. Hence, we must desist from any life threatening actions that will derail our genuine struggle for our people. All groups are hereby discouraged from indulging in harassing oil workers and soldiers. We urge you all to help any oil workers or soldiers you see in distress. The military warplanes hovering round our towns and villages have not strike a soul or destroy any property, so those groups with anti aircraft missiles should dry their gunpowder. When it is time to engage the military in combat the whole world will know they started the war not the Avengers. The Niger delta avengers high command will pass the message round that its time to engage on gun battle when the time comes. So far, we have not engaged the Nigeria military in combat; despite the heavy presence of military on the pipelines. we still find way to carry out our actions without attacking soldiers. The avengers will deal with any group that refuses and attack military. The high command is calling on all groups in Rivers, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom to not indulge in any act of kidnapping and attacking of soldiers. The war is on oil installations; “Operation On Flow of Oil” God is our strength; he is going to see the people of Niger delta through. God bless the Niger delta republic. Earlier today, online media platform, Premium Times, reported exclusively that President Buhari had taken ill and was being treated at the state house hospital (Read here ). The Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has debunked the report. In an interview with The Cable, Femi Adesina, said the report was not true and that President Buhari is as fit as a fiddle. He said President Buhari only yesterday received Anglican bishops who paid him a courtesy visit at the state house Abuja yesterday June 3rd "Didn’t you see pictures of him receiving Anglican bishops yesterday (Friday)? Did he look sick? The president is as fit as a fiddle. Anyone who says he is sick is telling lies. That is a figment of the person’s imagination. Just yesterday he received the primate of the Anglican Communion and arch bishops at the presidential villa. He also received former President Olusegun Obasanjo (pictured). He is hale and hearty. The imagination of whoever says that is on overdrive.”he said Asked why President Buhari had in recent times delegated functions to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Adesina said "The presidency is one. The president has a right to delegate duties to his deputy, who is the vice-president, and that is what he has done.”he said

So that is how they would gang up and retire the president before his time so that Osibanjo would become Acting President and then later President! The same way Goodluck Jonathan became a president after Yaradua's exit. And MAYBE Osibanjo will be found wanting some months to the next election and a new person of northern extraction will be elected president with an Igbo as the vice president and the circle will go round again! |
all Nigerians be trying to impress the public on social media and get attention. because olajumoke turned from a bread seller to a model and the other windscreen guy to a model and the placard job advertising girl to a worker doesn't mean all men are destined to get out from their predicament just like that. it takes For Grace bro. bro u have a work, let hawkers and other jobless youths do the advertising# |
In all the religions, u would have noticed that there is a sub-conscious yet non-man-made acknowledgement of the claring differences between EVIL and GOOD or Right and Wrong. Irrespective of the religion u are in, u know that certain things are wrong while some are right. To be at the center, u keep doing those things ur clear conscience tells u are right. At the end, if there is an after-life, u would surely make it to d right side because It isn't likely that a 'God' will not accept someone who has been right almost truout his life. In everything, keep a clear conscience! |

buhari's theory of change has driven this country into a dark alley and our prayer is that we will all come out of the alley unharmed and still strong enough to steer the wheels. However, I support buhari's stand on the Nigerian economy. he means well. devaluing the nails won't help the economy at all. if the president stands his ground, Nigeria will be better in no distant time. the stronger the naira is to dollar... the better and safer for our economy. pls let's be educated! |
