Christianity EtcPossessing The Spoil by ocnovakmichael(op):
I'm so excited to write this topic that I can't wait for you to read and be blessed.

The Lord stirred my spirit to write this topic because many have been idling away, waiting for something to happen instead of stepping out and appropriating what's already theirs in Christ Jesus.

Certain words suggest a picture in our minds. We see this picture on the canvas of our minds, but, in actuality, we can't substantiate its reality. For instance, when you hear the word unicorn: your mind seem to form a picture of a horse-like creature with a horn at the centre of its head.
Scripturally, the prophet Isaiah declared, "Thus saith the LORD, the heaven is my throne, the earth is my footstool..." (Isaiah 66:1). Now when we read such scriptures our minds seems to form a picture of a Giant God, sitting on a throne in a glory cloud in heaven and his foot touching the base of the earth. May be I'm the only one, but this picture, just described, has been on the canvas of my mind.

You see, until we get the clear message that the Holy Ghost wants us to glean from the word, we would continue to speak, understand, think, and imagine as babes (1 Corinthians 13:11).

Now what am I getting to? The Holy Spirit enlightened my understanding concerning the description in Isaiah 66:1 and how we can possess the spoil, which is evident in the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ over all the powers of the enemy in heaven, in earth, and beneath the earth.

1 Corinthians 10:11
[11]Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

The text above informs us that what happened to the children of Israel are examples unto us. Put slightly differently, what was physicalized in that day were spiritualized for us in this day.

So the question is: how do we possess the spoil?

In Second Chronicles the twentieth chapter, the Bible chronicles how three kingdoms came to war against Jehoshaphat the king of Judah. These three kingdoms were the Ammonites, the Moabites, and the Edomites (children of mount Seir). Now from history we know that the Ammonites and Moabites are the descendants of Lot, Abraham's nephew. And the Edomites are the descendant of Esau, the grand-son of Abraham. So in a way, these four kingdoms, Judah, Ammon, Moab, and Edom are distant relatives.

Now in the course of the raging war between Israel and those three kingdoms, Jehoshaphat sought the LORD and declared a fast, and the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir so that every one of them three kingdoms helped to destroy another.

2 Chronicles 20:25
[25]And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

Did you notice it took Jehoshaphat and his men three days in gathering the spoils of war. Further more, among other spoil were riches and precious jewels.

Again notice it was God that set the ambushments against those three kingdom, but Jehoshaphat and his men were the once who walked into the enemies camp and took the spoil.

Like I earlier stated, on the one hand, many in the church have been waiting around for God to do something about their situation. But on the other hand, God is waiting on them to appropriate all that He has given them in Christ.

Colossians 2:14-15
[14]Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
[15]And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Notice like Jehoshaphat and his men, the Lord Jesus has spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them. And God has made Jesus the head over all thing to the church, which is his body. Meaning every spiritual blessings, riches and precious jewel, so to speak, that Jesus spoiled the enemy belongs to the church, his body.
Jesus has spoiled the enemy, that is, he has stripped the enemy of all authority and gave that authority to the church.

Matthew 28:18-19a
[18]And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
[19]Go ye therefore...

Notice Jesus says all authority is given unto me... Go ye therefore... And possess the spoil.
You see, just because Jesus has spoiled the enemy and have given the church the authority to posses the spoil doesn't mean those riches, deliverance, healings, spiritual blessings etc., will automatically come to us. We have our own part to play, and that is to walk into the enemies camp in the name and authority of Jesus Christ and possess the spoil. After God set ambushment against the three kingdom that they killed one another, Jehoshaphat and his men still have to walk into the camp and take possession of the spoil (riches and precious jewels).

You see, when God says, in the book of Isaiah 66:1, "Thus saith the LORD, the heaven is my throne, the earth is my footstool..." He's saying in similitude, my foot is the church, the body of Christ: that would walk the earth in my name and possess the land. Because the Bible teaches that God has put all things under Jesus' feet, which is his body, the church.

Ephesians 1:22
[22]And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

The foot of God is the foot of Jesus Christ, and the foot of Christ is the church. It is the prerogative of the church to possess the spoil in the name and authority of Christ. We are not waiting on God to possess the spoil, God is waiting on us to possess the spoil, which He wrought in Jesus Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at His own right hand.

Jehoshaphat and his men spoiled riches and precious jewel. Now concerning riches Jesus says, I became poor that you through my poverty might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). It is your right to possess riches. Concerning precious jewel, in the book of Malachi 3:17 the LORD says, "... In that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own..." This statement imply the idea of salvation and deliverance. These are also yours, possess them in the name and authority of Jesus Christ.

All things which Christ spoiled off the enemy are yours: possess them in his name!

"Clearly seen" "obvious" 😏

I showed you and explained that Jesus had just one baptism, the baptism of the Holy Spirit where the Spirit came upon him and dwelt but do you still choose to believe in three baptism, hmm, it's well.

Let me share with you what another baptism truly means, to receive another baptism is to receive another spirit, it's to be immersed into another body.

Once you are put into the Spirit, we are to dwell in Christ and Christ in us.
Jesus who was born as a result of the Holy Spirit and the power of God, becoming flesh became immersed into the Spirit and got led to the wilderness overcoming satan and years later to the cross to overcome the curse of sin, to overcome death
Well said brother. I like you.

Nonetheless, let's analyze with sound logical wisdom

1. Jesus' baptism in water was the first
2. Jesus' baptism by the fullness of the Spirit was the second
3. The baptism Jesus spoke about of his death in Matthew 20:22 was the third.

And those were the reality of the Old testament types such as the sea, the cloud, and the fire.

okay

Indeed baptism means immersion, but do you also realize that Paul wrote: Eph.4.5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

It is just one baptism, not two or three

Now Jesus said in Matt.28.19, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,...

That doesn't mean three baptisms, but one baptism, one name, not the name of the Father, the name of the son and the name of the Holy Spirit.

I agree that baptism is for preservation like you wrote but such understanding shouldn't result in you believing there are multiple baptisms.

We are sealed right, by the Holy Spirit, once not multiple times. It's like one saying because there are seven spirits mentioned in revelation it means there are seven baptisms.

But we know from scripture in Isaiah the spirit of the Lord came upon him, the spirit of wisdom etc etc etc. it wasn't the spirits of the Lord because they are one spirit, nine gifts of one spirit, the Holy Spirit. Nine characteristics of one kind fruit, the fruit of righteousness.

Now 1 Corinthians 10, Paul speaks of those who followed Moses and entered into covenant with him and God, as being baptism into cloud and sea as a type of water baptism abi. Now the point Paul was making is that even though they passed the red sea and walked under God's cloud and covering, even though they eat spiritual food and drank spiritual water from the rock, whom Paul refers to was Christ, they sinned and committed Iniquity and idolatry and were destroyed because of it.

Now you know like you said baptism is immersion but the people never entered the cloud nor the fire you later make mention of. But then you would say they didn't enter the sea either but passed through it

And I get that you then suggest that, o, it's sea, cloud and fire, but does it have to cost as three and not one, a baptism to bring them to the promise land. Because in the day it's a cloud but at night it is fire, the both don't occur at the same time.

It's just like how we are baptized and we don't remain in the same state and condition. I have stated the purpose of why he wrote or what he wrote in 1 Corinthians 10

Now speaking of the baptism of fire, being the death of Jesus, I agree as well but as you saw it's the final stage of the baptism which ushered him into his assignment and ministry. Meaning he was already baptism to do that, baptized to die on that cross. Let me explain through the words of Jesus

Now before John baptized Jesus, John said, he who comes after me, Jesus, baptizes with the Holy Spirit and with fire, Like 3:16. and when Jesus was baptized by John, Jesus was baptized by the Holy Spirit and so later he spoke to the disciples later he says
Matt.20.22 - But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

Now this is saying the baptism I will be baptized with but the baptism that I have received that you don't yet have but will receive after my death and resurrection.

"Baptized with" past tense

Other translations leave it out, for example Matt.20.23 "You will indeed drink from it," he told them. "But I have no right to say who will sit on the thrones next to mine. My Father has prepared those places for the ones he has chosen." (NLT)

Now you may go, ah but Luke said, I always tell people read Matthew first, there's a reason it is listed first, then Mark and then Luke

Luke.12.49 "I have come to bring fire to the earth, and I wish that my task were already completed! (NLT)Luke.12.50 There is a terrible baptism ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished. (NLT)

Now when you read a verse and you don't relate with other verses you may not understand what was said nor what is written. Infact verse 49 explains verse 50. Jesus came to send fire a baptism that would separate those who are to be saved and the rest, and he was eager to accomplish it.

Some have assumed Jesus is saying he is going to bring hell on everyone or make everyone pass through hell, like Mark 9 you quoted, lemme read a different translation
Mark.9.49 "For everyone will be purified with fire. (NLT)

Now even if it's KJV or NKJV Mark.9.49 "For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. (NKJV)

Know that Jesus was speaking to his disciples and the fire here is meant for good not for destruction. Key word seasoned. Salted, and verse 50 refers to salt as peace, so being made peaceful with God by purification of fire. the baptism of fire.

We know that in acts the Holy Spirit came upon them in form cloven tongues of fire, I could say purified tongues or circumcised with fire tongues, like what occured with Isaiah whose mouth was touched with coals from God's through and declared your Iniquity has been taken away.

The whole purpose of my response is to answer this, "How come Christ is mentioning another baptism?"

JESUS DOESN'T SPEAK OF A THIRD BAPTISM BUT OF ONE SPECIFIC BAPTISM. Of the Holy Spirit and of Fire.. in another phrase baptism of Holy Spirit and Power, for he instructed them to wait for the Holy Spirit to come upon them with power, with fire.

I agree we need the baptism to live for Christ, die for God's will and be resurrected to glory.

😊
Well said brother. Now I'm not a proponent of the idea that Christians should have three baptisms. What my article says is that Jesus had three baptisms which are clearly seen in scriptures. But we do not have to go through that, one baptism (in water and by the Holy Ghost), as Paul wrote in the book of Ephesians, suffices.

I'm only pointing out the obvious that Jesus had three baptisms that we may be preserved in him.

Don't miss the point in the article.

The bane of the matter here is that you failed to see with the eyes of the prophet, who could see beyond the curve without disturbing too many who stand in the light.
I'm not referring to his potential with respect to his beliefs because they're not mutually exclusive, notwithstanding. Nonetheless, I'm talking about the potential I see in you both as taking up a thread in this platform to elucidate many minds through substantiating articles.

If you're a child of God, you don't pray to the God of anybody, because you have a personal relationship with the Father. If you have a brother named John, imagine how silly it would sound if you go to your dad and say "daddy John pls I need money for school fees", instead of "my daddy I need money for school fees". We are to pray to the Father only through the Name of Jesus Christ. Anyone promoting another name is either demonic, or is a big fraud.
You're absolutely correct. However, what if I pray thus, "Oh God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob..." Am I calling on other gods other than the Almighty God? Doesn't that make me a follower of the God of my fathers in the faith?

And If I can pray, "Oh God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob..." Then, am I wrong to say: "Oh God of Bishop so and so show yourself?"

Christianity EtcJesus' Three Baptisms by ocnovakmichael(op):
Friday 6th December' 24 I was washing in the bathroom when the word of the Lord stirred my spirit concerning the baptisms of the Lord Jesus.

I haven't thought of the consequence of the three baptisms of Jesus until that day. So I ask the Holy Spirit to teach me more of Jesus' baptism and where to find them in scriptures.

The word Baptism means "immersion." And one way to interpret it in this context is a "deep involvement in something" such as water, fire etc. The purpose of baptism is for preservation of the one that was baptized. It is in the light of this understanding that I will narrow down the path of the three baptisms of Christ.

Paul writing under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost alluded to examples of these baptisms in his epistle to the church at Corinth.

1 Corinthians 10:1-2
[1]Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
[2]And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Notice in that text Paul was referring to the Israelites having been baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea: referring to two baptisms, which are essentially examples of things to come. You see, in the Old testament, God led Israel by a pillar of cloud to shield them from the affront of the army of Pharaoh. Also, God led them with a mighty hand through the sea, when He parted the Red sea for Israel to escape Egypt.

Exodus 13:21a
[21]And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way

But there's yet another baptism which Paul did not mention in that reference in his first epistle to the saints at Corinth, the third baptism. Now why Paul omitted the third baptism I cannot say, but one thing I can say is that Paul wrote as much as the Spirit led him. You see, the Bible teaches that we know in part, and do prophesy in part.

1 Corinthians 13:9
[9]For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

In the book of first Corinthians the tenth chapter and the eleventh verse, Paul by the inspiration of the Spirit says, what happened to the children of Israel are examples unto us in this dispensation. Meaning, the somewhat physical experiences of the Jews are both spiritual warning and reality unto us from the time of our Lord Jesus on earth unto this day of the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 10:11
[11]Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Now what am I getting to?
You see, while Paul referenced two baptisms of the children of Israel in the cloud and in the sea, there's yet another baptism that crowns the crest of our immersion in God the Father, in God the Son, and in God the Holy Ghost.

Exodus 13:21
[21]And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night

Exodus 14:29
[29]But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Notice in those texts that the children of Israel were immersed in three, that is, they were baptized in the cloud, the sea, and the fire. And these are types and shadow unto us. The cloud is a type of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, the sea is a type of the baptism in water, while the fire is a type of the baptism in Jesus' death.

In the beginning of Jesus' earthly ministry he went to Jordan's river to be baptized in water by John the Baptist. This was his first baptism. Now, no sooner had he his first baptism in water than he had his second baptism in the Holy Ghost when the heavens opened.

Mark 1:9-10
[9]And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
[10]And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

The Lord Jesus was both baptized in water (the sea) and in the Holy Ghost ( the cloud) the same hour. And scripture says, "God gave him the Spirit without measure" (John 3:34). Meaning, Jesus was greatly immersed in water and in the Spirit: two baptisms.

Notwithstanding, one day while teaching his disciples, the Lord Jesus hinted of his third baptism, the baptism by fire. Now in the beginning of this article I had earlier stated that the purpose of baptism is for preservation. This is why the Lord Jesus hinted that "Every one shall be salted with fire..." (Mark 9:49). Put slightly differently, in his third baptism by fire, everyone who believes shall be preserved by his sacrifice of death on the cross and his resurrection.

Matthew 20:22
[22]But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

Notice in that text that Jesus spoke of another baptism. This statement came after he had been baptized by John the Baptist in Jordan's river and had received the fullness of the Spirit without measure. How come Christ is mentioning another baptism? This is the third baptism. The baptism wherein everyone of us who believe will be salted. That is, preserved.

Ephesians 1:20 & 2:1
[20]Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
[1]And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Notice in that text that we were all baptized and preserved in him in his, third baptism, death and were raised up together with him in his resurrection. Glory to God! The same power that raised Jesus, the head of the church, from the grave also raised his body.

Now don't just take my views on the above article. If this discuss bear witness with your spirit, kindly leave a comment in the comment section below.

You both have great astuteness in protracted writing. I'd advise you both to put this skill to work to bless others, by writing good protracted article that shapes the human mind to outgrow its milieu.

Cease your argument and direct that potential zest toward articulating Biblical truths. Like Paul, he had the potential to broadcasting initiative but until Jesus directed that potential towards the kingdom, Paul ascribed to killing the people of the way.

So guys, STOP this argument and write articles that will quiet the nay sayers. You both have the potential!
