Most nigerians cannot pay the kind of tax needed to ensure good potable water supply. Overseas, in the fabled saner climes,a resident in a city, town or village pays council tax,(which can be as high as 300000-500000 naira, and is separate from income tax) which is then used by the local authority to ensure good water supply, among other things. Also, they pay hefty bills to the water company to get decent water supply too.

Nigerians seem to think that what they achieve overseas with taxation and market appropriate bills, they can do with oil money which can't feed a nation of ten million, talkless 230 million people

As for the rest of the world laughing at us...lol. Most African, Asian, South and central American countries have issues with potable water supply for everyone. If they laugh at nigeria...it will be like people living in glass houses throwing stones.

As far as I'm concerned, the only protest I can have against bad governance that police will not shoot or fire tear gas at me is to never vote in any future elections. When the people don't come out to vote, or their votes are rigged, the legitimacy of such government will be questioned as we are currently witnessing.
