Most of you guys who are rating Alampasu ahead of Ezenwa doesn't watch the Nigerian league and your knowledge of Alampasu's abilities comes largely from his performance at the u17 world cup.

"least likely",yes. But the most gifted of the three. Plus,he has been with the team longer than Akpeyi.

Reports from camp say Alampasu is outshining other keepers in the evening training:

Training report from @kayodesuberu:

Kelechi and Iwobi touches this evening training oozes confidence and hope for Nigeria football future. Pure class

Beautiful Lob goal from Kelechi now. When u talk Abt Mahrez & Slimane, you talk Abt Kelechi & Iwobi. Algeria ll surely fall.

Alampasu looks so sharp and fit. No stage fright for this young lady.

Alampasu has clearly drowned akpeyi at this evening training. Fit, agile, aware and very talented.

Mikel look fit and sharp. You can never buy his years of experience. Needed greatly in this Team. Clear leader.

Moses recent form is rubbing off on his confidence. Sharp, smart and hugely talented. Algeria will surely fall

John Ogu looks very fit, couple with huge physical presence.

The politician and business in the form of @Thenff are here. Training ended. Team looking sharp, fit and full of confidence.

Nnaa,see better tori.

Mickael2:

Ok I no agree with that Agbo own but Ogu and Ndidi? Absolutely. Fact- You can't run around the field with thesame intensity for 90 mins
Fact- You can pass the ball with thesame intensity for 90 mins, if we can make the Algerians chase the ball for more than 30 minutes altogether in the first half, by 60 mins they will be asking for a 'volleyball time-out', and can we do that with Onazi? Fact- NO
can we do it with Ndidi or Ogu? Fact- YES
but I would prefer Ndidi because he can score once in a while

Well,I agree with your take on Agbo simply because he is not properly tested but going by his coach's assessment one can assume he is a brighter prospect.
I am trying not to run Onazi down but he need to understand the competition that faces him, currently. He needs to work on his ball playing ability and be more intelligent when going for tackles.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by OdenigboAroli(m): 6:23pm On Nov 07, 2016
Mickael2:

yes they absolutely can.

If we were to play a 4-3-3, the midfield will be basically Ndidi as a DMF, Onazi as the CMF that does all the running and Mikel as AMF. In this way, whenever Onazi employs his marking abilities and wins the ball he will always have someone close by who will literally take the ball off his feet so he makes no mistakes, if he wins it near our box, Ndidi will collect it from him straight, if he wins it further upfield, Mikel collects it. Basically he will told to run around like crazy and win possession and just drop the ball when he wins possession which is literally what he does now. But if our coach isn't sold on the idea then Ndidi should be starting ahead of Onazi as our DMF anyday of the week and twice on saturdays

But bros, you no too like Onazi...lol
On a serious note,if I was the coach Ndidi,Ogu and Agbo will all be ahead of Onazi. Don't get me wrong ,dude works hard but I am a lover of ball playing. Get the ball and stretch a sweet smooth pass...No long balls.

I have zero doubt in Mikel and he will make a perfect addition to our passing middle. From Ndidi to Iheanacho. All make intelligent passes. I can consider Ideye but, Iheanacho, Mikel Iwobi centrally is too dangerous for any side.

Not when his fitness is in question.

Yes. I always rated Onazi but after Mickael2 made a strong debate on how the team plays and the importance of a passing DMF in the modern game, I agreed Ndidi is the better choice. If we control the game better, we would not need much defending.

What a man!

I think Musa Contributes more in attack than Winging. I see him having less effect in this set up.

Good point but I still won't start Simon Moses ahead of Ideye and Ighalo. I will rather move Iwobi to his natural position and have Ideye,Ighalo or Oghenekaro pair Nacho.

Even with your set up I have my doubts about Mikel Obi.

My point is clear. Best finisher stays up front. Although I am impressed with Ideye's passing skills. Nacho upfront. Flanked by Simon and Victor Moses. With Iwobi Behind them. Mikel and Ndidi in midfield.

One word for this, Fiyahh.

................................ Iheanacho (CF)
................................ Iwobi (AMF)
S. Moses (LMF)................................. V. Moses (RMF)
......................... Mikel (CMF)
............................... Ndidi (DMF)

I agree with your set up except I will start Ahmed Musa ahead of Simon Moses.

you have to change with the climate bro. How many teams in planet Earth still play this style of DMF that you just mentioned? All you just explained are the defensive duties of a DMF not the entire duties of a DMF. A DMF is the passing outlet from the back, it is impossible for Chelsea to build an attack right now without either Matic or Kante touching the ball, same thing happens at Barca with Busquets and so on, so if your DMF cannot pass the ball well what do you do? You start going through your fullbacks and any good opposing coach will immediately counter that because the spaces there are limited. You are talking about the DMFs of the 80s not even the early 2000s, these days a DMF has to have a better passing range and percentage than even a CMF talkless of an AMF, so passing is vital for a DMF now, that's why Onazi is playing for a team fighting against relegation in Turkey and Ndidi is playing in a team who have almost already qualified for the second round of the Europa league.

And thank goodness you aren't a coach, they will sack you after your first training section

Last sentence cracked e up. grin
But seriously,do people till play that Olofinjana kind of defensive MD?

I'm sure he experienced enough crowd jitters when he played at the finals of an U17 World Cup

. is it the crowd that will scare him? Is that why he shouldn't be played? Cuz he might freak out if he sees a large crowd?

Doesn't he play other games outside his tier in Portugal? You know, like how the English clubs play other games to unite the different tiers....

So,you are comparing an ordinary kids tournament to a high profile world cup qualifier with all its intensity.

This is not just about a stadium filled with people dancing and waving flags but the seriousness, importance and weight of this encounter.
What we 're saying is that this is the wrong match to be used in testing a greenhorn. It will not be a clever move, except we have no other choice. No serious coach will try such gamble.

Aiyenugba was a very good goalkeeper. He just had Enyeama and Ejide ahead of him but he was also quality.

He is better than Ezenwa and Akpeyi (at his prime), that's for sure.

I followed Aiyenugba when he was at his best,at Enyimba fc during their second time as Champions of Africa. Aiyenugba was average ,at best. Akpeyi is better but Ezenwa is brilliant

Neither is it a game to gamble with a weaker keeper due to the keeper's experience. Best in training starts.

I don't buy that best in training starts,it smells of disaster. An inexperienced player can have a good day in training but that is not to say they will replicate such form in a real life situation. I will prefer Akpeyi to start because he is more experienced and has been in a similar situation, hence, experienced. You and I know that no way in the world would Alampasu start against Algeria. It's not even a smart thought.

True talk my sister coz d guy is not ready for recall due to a reason best know to him.He did not step aside but retired,a very tough decision for him and it w be tough for him to come out of retirement.

No option for now than to Psyche d trio(Akpeyi,Ezenwa and Alampasu)up for d crucial match. There is nothing anybody can do about d goalkeeping area for now than to encourage d guys.

It w be better for Enyeama and country if he can come out of retirement, with him and Ikeme in camp then w are secured.

Which over 10 years?

He was last called 6 or 4 years ago and it is not because he's not good enough but because of Nigerian factor.

He helped his team to win the Israeli league just 2 years ago.

So, tell me, why was he not called to the National team then?

But there was never a time Aiyenugba was rated as a world class goalkeeper. I have always known him as a good penalty stopper, not such a great goalkeeper. He had his chances and fell short,he won't be the first,so let's try some other hands. Ultimately,I want you to erase Aiyenugba from your memory,he will not be called.

They will never consider him or make mention of him to Rohr.

As you have rightly said he deserves to be called but I think it is too late. Maybe next time.

Has it not been over ten years since he was a goalkeeper for Nigeria? Why hasn't he been invited if he is still doing well?
