Its a combo of both. Those players are a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves because they're supposed to be professionals and are extremely well paid by the club. None of them are giving their all. Regardless of what the manager is doing, the manager isnt on the pitch kicking the ball with them. The effort has to be 100% because the club paid them and gives them a lot to do their jobs. The manager is also failing in his job to create the right environment for them, the right tactics. The right team selections etc. But lets not absolve the players completely from their own responsibility.

As much as I don't want to see Mourinho at United again, I don't think that the laziness is due to the tactical plan. Defensive teams even have to put in a shift for it to work. The players are not just willing to put in the extra effort required of a big team with ambition. It's either because they don't agree with the tactics or fitness level is poor, which means the fitness coach is doing a very poor job.

As a 4th year CS student on IT in unilag, I believe I'm qualified to answer this question.

I'd first like to point out that there are people in Google that didn't step into college but were able to enter as software engineers. Despite this fact, the vast majority still went to college.

With everything I've learnt in the previous years, I've done courses ranging from compiler construction, networking, algorithms and data structures, taught languages languages like C, Python, Java, php. To be honest, I can bet 80-90% can't remember what we did in this courses and even the ones that remember, only a VERY FEW number would be able to know how to apply them. I've read on quora a number of times that these courses are actually applicable.

Despite this, there are tons of people in other departments who are better than even the CS students in programming. Programming is not computer science as many of us here might know. Concepts like algorithms and other areas are what makes a CS students and this is what the "TOP" companies usually test for.

In the end, many graduates in CS are "better" than people in other fields but of courses these CS graduates are graduates from Ivy leagues cos they're the ones that really know how to teach these stuffs.

My verdict: getting a degree in computer science isn't a waste when one opens up his mind to see beyond the theories being taught in school.

finally the way sch is run in naija is a joke. outdated syllabus. in Uniben as of 2017 in my finals. they were teaching us millennia goals on housing finance. I knew then and there I've been scammed.
